    My favorite was Barranco de las Peñitas because I thought the site where the Virgin Mary appeared was such a cool part of history. I am moving to Fuerteventura in a week, and I can’t wait to try out some of these hikes!

    The third coastal walk as the position of the Chapel, the contract and glow from the white brick against the earthy illuminated landscape just looks absolutely magical to me. I can't wait to discover the little Chapel. Wow!

    Thank you for the view inside the chapel. When we walked there, I was so tired I stayed outside. I loved that walk. I will try the other two walks next time. And I bought the map using your link.

    Hi ladies, well for me it would have to be number 1 walk. I have been coming over for many years now and have not really explored the beautiful island much, I would definitely be do that walk up the volcano when were back in march. What beautiful views you get of the parts of the island.
    Thanks again for the wonderful vlog 😎😎😎

    Very interesting vlog this week, I'm told the hidden church walk is worth doing, but the coastal walk is definitely my favourite. I never tire of watching the sea! Just hope our October flight will still go and we can try the walk out! Many thanks for keeping us in touch with all that Fuerteventura has to offer. Xx

    Very hard to choose 1 as they all have pros, but definitely not the first, recently done the Calderón hondo, as fascinating as it was, climbing up the volcano was a killer, but then again, without water and 30 degrees, what do you expect lol. I think number 3, as it has so much history and was very fascinating. Thank you so much for sharing.

As far as the walks go, I’d struggle to pick one tbh they all look amazing. should have been there this week & next but got cancelled so your vids really pick me up cus I’m so gutted I have to wait til next year now 😒 ( on a plus note, we’ve had a full refund from jet2 so that good) take is easy ladies, stay safe 😎👍🏻

  • @ReneDeHa
    @ReneDeHa 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Baranco de las penitas, the 3rd walk, definitley is my favourite. I hike there almost every time I visit Fuerteventura. It has changed quite a bit since I first walked there in 2004, the path there was more adventurous 🙂and for sure no other hikers. It's always a surprise if the reservoir towards the end is dry, or filled with water ( i guess that depends of the time of the year). Is the "Madre del Agua" hike (near Ajuy) also on the trail map?

    • @AmeliaBolger
      @AmeliaBolger  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Looking at the map it seems to be incorporated into the PR9 trail that extends to Ajuy. We’ve not actually continued that far but will have to give it a try sometime 👍

  • @suestevens342
    @suestevens342 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

  • @lycian123

    There’s about 16 good walks easily accessible and another 50 if you try harder. The GR131 crosses some of them (walked it all in sections) but good local maps and advice are required if your time is limited. Paths are generally in a very high condition and there are rest huts on popular routes.
    Do a bit of homework and the reward is fantastic on an island that has more goats than people. Fences are sometimes there to keep goats from a specific area so generally you can walk almost anywhere. Farmers are very helpful to wandering tourists.
    Enjoy!

    Hi Amelia and Sarah thanks again for such an amazing vlog.
    I can't really choose which is my favourite... I love PR9 would love to see the little chaple... But the coastal walk PR2 to Plays De Esquinzo I think would be best for me at the moment as I'm recovering from ovarian cancer and my stamina isn't as good as it used to be, so plenty of places to stop along the path at the beautiful beaches and a picnic at the end would be ideal for me.
    Thanks again for all your inspirational vlogs. Take care and take care of each other 🌞xx

    There is no denying that walking/hiking is a great way to really see anywhere. We miss so much by getting in to cars. It's great that some of these places can only be reached on foot. As for my favourite, a difficult choice but I'm going for PR1, the walk to the summit of the extinct volcano. That view across the north of the island must be worth the hike alone. Fabulous.

    Hi Amelia and Sarah
    Lovely video this week showing us something different to the usual tourist things we all do . Love walking in fuerteventura. Haven't done those walks ,would love to do them all next time we are there but I suppose Calderon Hondo would be a favourite as my son and I are fascinated by the moon and this is the nearest thing to looking like the moon🌚 lol😁. Plus the scenery all around from up there looks amazing . Well done keep safe and well girls 🥰

Keep up the great work, your planning my daily ‘to do list’ in readiness for my visit. Take care both I’m already looking forward to next weeks viewing. 👍😬

    Hi, It's an easy one for me, walk number 2 Playa De Esquinzo as I love to walk the trail to my favourite beach Playa Del Aguila (step beach), even if I don't win I'll purchase the map as it will be a superb asset for my future holidays.
    Thanks for the information about the walks and the map.

    My wife and I always go up Calderon Hondo, every year we come over. This is because we stay at the nearby Origo Mare, and just as you mentioned the incredible views! It's just an amazing place to go up and experience. Along with the local Ardillas!
    We are hoping to be there End of November early December..... Only time will tell! We miss this place so much :-( 24/7 living would be the ideal for sure!

    walk three please, how stunning is that scenery? We always walk to the fisherman's chapel in Las Salinas which is so peaceful and beautifully kept (plus a nice chance to stretch the legs and take in the sea breeze and the big sky) Can't imagine a church or mosque being left open in the U.K. these days, they would be trashed.
    I have been told that as from the end of September I am to be working from home so at least my November trip to Caleta might still be good to go as I can quite happily self isolate when I get back :)

    Another great video, ladies! I’ve done the first two walks and my favourite is the coastal path from El Cotillo to Playa de Esquinzo. I like to take the bus from Corralejo to La Olivia and start the walk there, which is quite a trek!
    But what about elsewhere on the island - have you done the hike from Morro Jable across the mountains to Cofete? That’s amazing, especially the view from the mountain ridge down to the coast on both sides. I did a TH-cam video on that a few years ago - here’s the link if you’re interested:
    th-cam.com/video/PRCIyny9quY/w-d-xo.html
    Keep the great videos coming and I can’t WAIT till Monday morning, when I’ll be back on the island for the first time since the pandemic! Best wishes, Lawrence Kuglin.

    Calderón Hondo for us Should be their with you now this week but the 14 day quarantine in the UK scuppered it again for the 3rd time!! I see there are 113 active cases as of today in FV the 20th ,not sure where that leaves FV with the per 100k. Listened to you on Real last weekend you came over well ladies
    Steve

    • @AmeliaBolger
      @AmeliaBolger  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The AI rate per 100,000 has been trending down and then a slight rebound the last couple of days. It doesn’t take many cases to affect the number. Fortunately hospitalisations are coming down, which is the real indicator of prevalence. Current rate is 68/100,000 it had come down to 44 at the start of the week.

    Thanks for another amazing insight into the natural beauty of the island. All the walks look like they are worth the trek. My favourite though would have to be the coastal walk. Even if we dont win the map looks like a very worthwhile investment so thank you for bringing it to our attention.

    Definitely the second one for me Amelia.

    • @AmeliaBolger
      @AmeliaBolger  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cheers Dave, about 50mins up and 40mins back down. You’ll want at least 30mins at the top to take photos and admire the view too 👍

  • @cam8212
    @cam8212 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    All three are great, Honda for the views, but I think the coast walk for a dip in the ocean and to test out the waterproof quality of the map would be best.
    Have you lucky ladies done the Gran Valle to Cofete?
    The Masca trail on Tenerife is on my bucket list.
    Retired on Fuerteventura, hiking and travelling. Methinks you two have won the lottery of life!!

    Hi my wife and I are due to come to fuerteventura / corralejo end of Oct for 6 weeks just wondering can you tell me are there many people around ? And are there plenty of restaurants open ? And in your opinion is it safe, we are both 62, but would love to escape the n Irish weather and is there any chance of you doing a comprehensive walk around showing which bars restaurants are open Thanks again love what you both are doing

    • @AmeliaBolger
      @AmeliaBolger  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi William, it’s very safe here. It is quieter than August when the Spanish holiday makers were here but you will find the same bars and restaurants open as shown in our previous videos. Some have reduced opening days to Thurs-Sun but you won’t have any problems finding places to eat and drink. In fact, the businesses here will be very pleased to see you. If you want a relaxing holiday with some warm weather it’s a great time to come

    Calderon Hondo is my favourite although we would also love to see the little chapel. Loving your videos. Currently watching this one whilst in Caleta. ☀️

    For me personally the 2nd track to Playa Esquizo was the favourite one. I like beaches on Fuerteventura so much :-) nice video

    Another great video, thanks Amelia and Sarah. For me it had be number 3, as I did it for the first time today thanks to you! Great scenery, at the start it felt quite Caribbean, loved the dam and the chapel is really pretty. Thanks for showing us a hidden gem.

    Very professional video ladies. All walks look interesting but the third walk looks great as apart from the natural surroundings, which you don’t see from driving, the chapel is unique to the area and good to see how important it is to the locals. Keep safe.

    Walk 2 is for me. When staying at El Cotillo I start out early when there are very few people around, I'm usually the first to walk at the surfer's beach as there are no footprints in the sand, a solitude moment. You are never short to take scenic photos of this wonderful coastline.

    We're travelling to fuerteventura and of September do we have to fill in any information before we arrive and submit it to the Spanish government and if so what's it called and please can you tell us if the smoking area in the airport is still open as most places have closed there abroad thanks in advance

    • @AmeliaBolger

      You need to complete the locator form and obtain a QR code (either printed off or displayed on your phone for scanning on arrival). You’ll find it here www.spth.gob.es Some sections cannot be filled in until you are within 48hrs of your flight. We’ve been to the airport recently and there was still a smoking area available.

      Sorry to heat that Shirley, package holidays can’t operate with FCO advice in place so it’s only separate flight bookings coming in-Ryanair, Easyjet, Wizz Air

    Thanks for the great vlog, for me it’s the coastal el Cotillo walk as you went past our favourite beach.

    Loved all 3 for different reasons, but the first one was absolutely incredible, to be staring into the mouth of a volcanoe. 🌋
