Thank you so much for this video! It helped me in making my decision: the art is gorgeous (!), but this deck wouldn't work for me as a Lenormand.

You are so welcome. There is a current Kickstarter that has an owl themed deck , in similar but lighter style, alongside the magpie themed lenormand by the same creator. If that helps

@@MagpieMoonchild Thank you! I saw the new Kickstarter campaign, but the lighter palette makes the images even less recognizable. I could only be tempted by the dark version, but I find the coffin and tower cards confusing. The moth, caterpillar and chrysalis must be stand-ins for man, woman and child who were conspicuously missing in your walkthrough. That just wouldn't work for me.

They are renamed for those cards, are as you stated. Not every deck and artwork is for everyone.

I don`t read Lenormand, but this deck is beautiful. Maybe I should start learning :)

This is not at all a traditional Lenormand. It is very different and not suitable for learning Lenormand. For one who is familiar with Lenormand already, and understands the differences, it is a fun and beautiful deck. But if you want to learn Lenormand, look to start out with a deck with the traditional images and meanings. Then later you can branch out into less traditional ones for the fun of it. I would suggest one called "Grand Tableau Lenormand Oracle Cards" from Lo Scarabeo, or even better, the very beautiful "Old Style Lenormand" by Alexander Ray from US Games for starters. Or both!
A word of warning though, the market is flooded with pirated and counterfeit decks of all kinds, mostly cheap & coming out of Asia. They will have a QR code to download the guidebook, but some of these codes lead to malware sites, or you end up spending several dollars on ink & paper to print up information that should have come with the deck. Genuine items from US Games will always have the guidebook included, & I think Hay House does too. The Celtic Lenormand is one of my favorites, and Rana George's deck is very beautiful & comes with a great book. It has some non-trad cards, but you can set those aside until you learn the system.
I have found many counterfeit decks on eBay, Amazon, & Etsy, so you can't always trust them. All of the Malpertuis decks have been counterfeited, with smaller cards & muddied images. Some Etsy sellers sell only their own self-published decks, so they are reliable. It is always best to buy directly from the author or the original publisher. The counterfeits don't cost as much, but they are usually of inferior quality with no guidebooks, and they cheat the author, artist, publisher, and consumer. I can not in good conscience use a pirated deck.

The only issue is that some of the cards have been renamed - child, man, woman, for example. As long as you are aware of this, (and remove the extras if you feel you need to) you can still learn the Lenormand system.
It's not any different than learning Tarot with the court cards renamed to, say, child, youth, mother and father instead of page, knight, queen and king.
This deck is valid. As is the new iteration from the creator, Owl's Lenormand.
I'm not sure why the rest promoting Hay House was necessary. And I often warn on my videos how to spot counterfeit decks.

@@karolyn8644 Thanks for your answer. I have actually started to learn Lenormand (and Kipper) now. But with a much more traditional deck than this one. I will go traditional for now :)

@@MagpieMoonchild Yes, the Magpie is indeed a beautiful and innovative deck. I have it, just got it, & already love it, and will enjoy using it. But it is not a traditional deck, & I think one should have some knowledge of traditional Lenormand before trying to understand it.
I'm sorry if my reference to the Hay House sale seemed inappropriate. I didn't intend to "promote" the company, but only to inform. I have edited it out.

I can’t read lenormand but both versions of this deck made me want to try it
I have been looking into lenormand decks and I hate traditional portray of cross and coffin, I’m not sure why I just do 🤷🏻‍♀️ so this deck seems perfect hahah 😊
