lost 30 pounds last 4 months riding an ebike. I was able to get back into biking without hurting myself, and now my riding fitness is back and I can bang out big rides on my gravel bike now. I do a weekly 40 to 50 mile ride on my bosch powered ebike. I ride 95 percent eco mode, my average watts are 190 to 200 and my average BPM is 140 to 150. You can even start building muscle on an ebike by just pedalling into the burn, when you're legs start getting tired. Its really all up to you, and the ebike is a get tool to let you push yourself more and more every week, without hurting yourself, and still having fun.
Great little video. I've lost 13kg in the last year using my Ebike. I haven't changed my diet too much at all. Just less crap to snack on and I try and make sure that I always burn more than I consume. I tried loads of different diets etc over the years but just looking at it as a numbers game has made it so much easier for me. I do a lot of bike park riding and I get about 12-15 runs in on an analog bike but get 30 plus on the Ebike.
I don't care about losing weight, I did 1600 miles on my e bike last year, retired and haven't put a pound on. Stopped worrying about fitness and weight when I bought the YT Decoy!
There is no guarantee of Losing weight by cycling as muscle may well replace your on board blubber! What e-m-biking can do is improve your overall health, cycling with electro assistance is really benificial as you are not alone, your bike is your buddy and your co-pilot to assist you. No fear on steep lifts and putting power down on tight turns if you dare. Just modulate the power on the flat, and get to know your cruising speed. Faster means you are getting a bit fitter but it is not a linear thing, check the stats! Tip, avoid an e bike with a high transmission drag it kills your enjoyment.
With the ebike (mid-assist) I could ride longer and more often. But the big difference was the heart ratio within fat burn range (115-130) was a lot higher. Therefore burning as much or even more calories than before, but more efficient (as far as burning fat is concerned).
Interesting but what should you eat before a ride if you are Diabetic, and trying to lose a little weight ? I find I’m probably not losing any weight because of the chocolate I eat before and during my ride ? Great content 👍👍
90% of adults are metabolically unhealthy (metabolic syndrome). That means basically every overweight adult is going to have health issues or already have some. I lost 50 pounds and have kept it off. I also eliminated chronic pain. I eat a super low carb diet and for most people that is a great way to get lean and stay lean. Humans should be lean. Also put muscle on. It will protect you in a crash, from illness and burn more calories. Get fat adapted and ride with no snacks and eat very little before your ride. Lose weight lower, inflammation and reverse metabolic syndrome. I am 54 and lean, muscular and in amazing shape.
Enjoyed your video. But I think the background vids you showed were completely inappropriate. For probably the majority of viewers. Would think many substantially overweight as I am. I'm 78 & probably 2 stone overweight. The terrain you showed was extreme. Which I wouldn't think those who are overweight would go on. And also many wouldn't have the expensive bikes such as ones you had. Ive got samebike LO26 11 750w £850. Which got to go in my Campervan. Fold up I bought it mainly to help me uphills.
Hi David, yes this was originally out yesterday, but we had to make a few changes! Sorry for the re-upload but we didn't want to not have it on the channel as it's a great subject!
@@embn I'm using an Apple Ultra Watch to track my rides and HR. That uploads to Strava which then allows me to see my fitness/freshness levels. I try to stay in the positive to slight negative zones. No goal other than riding more often.
just ride your damn bike !! (instead of watching funny YT videos). you burn calories in exactly the same way. You have HR (use chest strap) and power meter, so move those cranks ! I see only slight difference between my normal bike and ebike, i can easily climb on both (including full turbo) having HRmax > 90% On an ebike, if you climb with higher cadence i can see myself slacking a bit, on a normal bike my cadene is closer to 65-75 on steep climbs, and on ebike, if i want to climb harder, i'm lowering my cadence to that 65-70rpm.
How do you fuel yourself for those EMTB rides? Let us know your riding diets down below! 👇
exactly the same as on a normal bike ! exactly the same energy bars !
no, what a surprise, not 'an e-bike specific energy bars' LOL!

Nice work James! Sounds like you've put in the work and figured our what is going to work for you!

This is a fun exercise to burn some fat!! Question... have you ever tried Next Level Diet? I got a fat-loss meal plan from them and I love it
Great video 🙏
Glad you enjoyed it!! 👊
Hi guys, thx 4 ur input. What ebikes do u have? Would u recommend an emtb w Pinion MGU or Rohloff for a newbie in mtbs to start loosing weight? 😊Thx

Awesome vid, looking forward to dropping some pounds this off season!
Good luck!

If you do lower intensity ride, maybe keto diet ?
Brilliant thank you 😁
I hope you are right. Plan to use an EMBT to get back to cykling (and life) after covid and 3 years of long f-ing covid.
cycling vs cykling

E MTBs are fun fun fun, feel good factor etc, just as important as fitness.
The kid in the background at 930 just trolling 😂
I’ve lost 4st still taking up emtb , 4 years ago
Superb video.
Glad you liked it
fitter off the bike fitter on the bike 👍 as @MTBFitness would say 😉

Amazing common sense truthful Video.
Thanks so much, Marc! 🙌
I’m so confused. Didn’t they release this video yesterday? Or am I bugging?
I'm confused too :D may be they released it yesterday as mistake

@@embn Thank God, thought the stroke was inminent.
Bikes are great for fitness, however, you can't out exercise a bad diet. And why throw your health potential gains away with crap food. Cheers all...
So true! To ensure your training/exercise is worthwhile, it's vital to have a diet optimised for developing your fitness. 👍
Sound advice Jeff! Everything in moderation eh!
I try altering between riding my "me"-powered and "e"-powered bikes at 2:1 ratio.
Good idea! How do you find that works for you? Are you working towards a certain goal or just generally keeping on top of things? 🤔

If I get way into the negative, I'll ride the ebike on trail mode and bump into boost as needed.
I think most of the weight you lose with an e-bike is to the wallet.
What is a good starter E Bike? That isn't $4-$5k?
I ride a Fiido e-bike.
It all starts in the kitchen. Seriously. 90% is of weight control is what/when/amount of caloric intake.

thats like saying you can lose weight driving a car
Absolutely but you have no free speech where you live so I can't say what I want.
