I do, but also the nails i get are china glass so im not sure if having pearls is even worth it. I have yet to take the plunge into buying a nice quality quartz banger, but i need to learn how to properly care for my nails first 😅

Boro is 4 cold start only because of OffGassing @ High Temps...Dimondium, Corundum ( Ruby & Sapphire ) and Quartz can be used with Higher Temperatures. I'm not sure about the ceramic (shinju) or the sic or the ALN. I haven't got that far yet....great video

Most helpful weed channel. I've been doing the occasional edible since 2016 but only last year (2022) did I dip into vaping thc(I don't do well with smoke)which I enjoyed a lot but there was definitely something left to be desired. Eventually I found cewpins and I learned about erigs. I just bought my first e-rig this month, a core 2.1, and I'm loving it. Dabs for life.
I used pearls for quite a while. I stopped because I noticed that even with a few different combinations of pearls & caps, I was still pulling on my rig harder than I wanted/needed to just to get the pearls to spin.
Just gotta get a nail with good airflow direction or a spinner cap that can make em spin. My mom has bad lungs and she can’t even spin the ball at all but when I hit it it’s like a tornado

if youre doing hot starts with pearls i would recommend ruby terp pearls, they can 100% handle heating up and cooling rather quickly and dont have as much of a problem getting stuck to the banger as boro or quartz ones do if you cant handle your hit and back out. just make sure theyre real (or synthetic) ruby
@@andrewmorgan5541 just did a quick Google search found an article basically it said they can withstand 5000 degrees Fahrenheit can't find symbol for it like a few hundred Celsius it holds heat longer so it's pretty good at holding heat since you're not really going higher than 650 on your rig and even that's a stretch some people like hot ass dabs thought

I over heated the first set and one of them literally cracked in half in my banger. I had no idea that they would take a lower temp than the actual banger. When you recommend to put your pearls in when putting your concentrates on could be dangerous. If you are doing a hot start your pearls could explode due to the extreme sudden change in temperature. A really good buddy of mine who blows glass and owns a glass shop/gallery says this happens at least 3x/week. You want to heat whatever type of nail you use with the pearls in it to start to avoid them exploding. Hope this info helps, happy smoking
that makes no sense. how is dropping a pearl into a red hot 800 degree banger less of a temperature change than going from room tempt to hitting it with a 2000 degree blue flame from a torch. if they dont explode from getting hit with the torch they're not going to explode from being dropped into a banger that is half the temp of a torch flame
Two days ago i got my first flat bottom banger so i could actually use terp pearls and a spinner cap, as i used to run a 45 with a directional cap. i run 2 ruby pearls sometimes three if I'm either bored or daring, I've never been able to take hits this big in my life.
Borosilicate terp pearls should be fine as long as they're uncolored. Usually the concern is the metal oxides used to color it being released. Even so most colored glass probably won't release fumes that you can breath in but it is possible a tiny amount of oxide dust that may be breathed in. With what I know about metal oxide exposure is that you're gonna have to breath in a lot of terp pearls to get sick from it.
@@laoxhype9067 You'll be fine lol, compared to what I've seen welders breath dab rigs might as well be hepa filters. Metal oxides are not a danger in smoking related glass. (I mean unless someone made a uranium glass piece and you inhaled some broken pieces of it.)
Biggest danger with borosilicate pearls is that they can shatter at around 500F. I’d be more concerned with breathing aluminum fumes from ruby or sapphire than boron from borosilicate glass.
I tend to hold my banger at a slight off axis angle so the oil falls to one side along with the pearl. Then, I hit it upright. I have an engraved bottom banger and love the sound of the pearl going over the knurled quartz surface when the oil is nearly spent. I dunno… Agree with you on quartz. But I've seen ridiculous prices on fancy terp pearls. I equate those with items like $4,000 USB connectors sold to audio nutters and such. Ha!
As a glassblower and someone who's probably been smoking weed since before you were born, it's absolutely absurd to think you could be melting Boro pearls. It takes a tremendous amount of heat to melt Boro and if you are using that much heat....your doing it wrong. You'd probably boil your eyeballs trying to hit something that hot before you melt the glass
Personally I prefer a dab just a bit hotter then “low temp” but not so much a “hot” dab either if that makes any sense. Again this is just personal experience, but I feel like when I go “low temp” the wax almost just dries up on my banger and I don’t really get anything from it. More often then not it vaporizes for a second I’ll cap it and then it’s already to cool or cooling down and it dries up. When I go just a weee bit hotter then low temp, maybe 20 seconds after heating it sometimes 25 seconds if I heat it a bit more then cap it… yeah you feel the burn but it’s almost a little bit more worth it.
People do that “burst of air” to get the pearl moving. Cups should have smoother curves at the bottom so pearls can reach the stuff pooling in the corners.
I am surprised by this as well. You would think that it would be more like a sauce pan in the kitchen with a rounded bottom to provide good heat distribution up the wall as well as more surface area for the pearl
They do have make a big difference. If you have a flat bottom banger they are pretty much a necessity, you are missing out and you are wasting less wax in the bottom of your banger.

As a purely educational question, have you tried stainless steel ball bearings? I'm not currently in the know, but ask purely for the informative nature of your channel.
I think it comes down to the thermal properties and durability. Titanium and quartz are much more heat resistant than SS, and also the way materials retain heat and thermally expand play into it somehow, not sure exactly the science behind that. Quartz seems ideal though.

Nah that stuff he’s saying about cold start dabbing is ridiculous. I’ve tried it a few times and it’s always a massive waste. You just end up puddling the dab, and it tastes awful because you’re directly heating it. This guy has probably smoked too many coils or something.

Ruby pearls are better. They can withstand more heat then quartz. They also hold heat longer as well.

Terp pearls are functional generally creating even distribution of product retaining temperature a Lil longer as well

Liked quartz, but now use SiC. Really keeps the heat in the pearls. two 4mm in the Peak Pro, a 4mm and a 3mm in the Proxy.

I tried using opals, the flavor is great, but you can easily overheat and shatter the opal.
Cewps. In one of yer vids to not take huge dab rips. But I can't make my pearls spin unless I take strong rips. Any tips
Might need a new cap. Some peoples caps have bad airflow causing them to pull to hard to make the pearls work

Yes , I also have the ruby . But the quartz seem to spin the same ... For me personally

Terp slurpers aren't made for cold starts. Most likely just wasting your concentrate.
Quartz by Chris was fairly cheap and high quality pearls for quarts, ruby and sapphire. -personal experience.

I don’t time my heat up but I do 45-60 cool down before I take my dabs. An I only use quartz really. Nothin beats a glass rig.
