Chinese Crested generally have amazing temperaments. Intelligent but not independent. Athletic but not high strung. They're perfect companions for older couples that would love to spoil their pet with attention and have no qualms spending money on maintaining their health.
McGruff went from crazy lighthouse keeper to a distinguished gentleman! And Lady's adorable tail wags at getting her sweater back is just adorable, though she's also got an Albert Einstein vibe going on in the face.
I have to do a 2nd rinse on my wash, with 1 cup of household cleaning vinegar. I live in a hard water area. This is the only way that I can get all of the soap out. I do all my laundry this way.

You won't regret a Crested, they are sweet little dogs. This makes me miss my little Chloe. She had allergies too, though not as bad as this one. I had turtle necks and I would use fashion tape (because if it got on her skin it's not as painful to pull off) to put a non-stick bandage on the inside to keep her bloody wounds from sticking to the shirt while it kept her from scratching the wound worse as it healed. Problem with them being hairless is they can do a lot of damage to themselves quickly by scratching. I saw my girl's neck go from fine to bloody mess in less then 30 seconds. Had to keep Soft Paws on her claws to help mitigate the damage. They're also prone to mitral valve problems which is what finally took my girl at age 12. So if you go to a breeder, make sure they are scanning their dogs at the cardiologist and that they stop breeding those with problems. My girl was a rescue, and I don't regret that, but miss her terribly.

my girl was that sensitive as well and having hesitation on the meds, I tried buying human grade cod liver oil gelcaps and put one or two small drops in with her food and overnite the redness was gone!!
McGruff was a perfect gentleman and looked as such. Lady being a street dog is very funny to me, a Chinese crested on the rough streets with the pit bull.

Spinner/weaver/dyer here. I've worked with wool for the past 37 years, and have NEVER had a problem. It's the same with flannel. I wear cotton flannel shirts and lounge pants, and I've never had a problem with the fabric making me
They are adorable! When I had westies the vet told me that the darker their skin is, the more allergies they have. I hope this sweet girl gets relief from the bath. ❤
I have had this breed for many years. Mine are 99% slick as a babies bottom. They are sweet, but aren’t brightest either. My fault of course. Because they are use to wearing clothing it isn’t a big deal if they need to wear a belly band or diaper. They can live a long time. My oldest is 19. That one with skin issues needs to wear socks to assist in healing the skin. She may be itchy due to that material on the sweater. I have seen it all, but diet is soooooo important with theses guys.
My heart is reserved for the huge and gigantic fur babies! My mother inherited one of these after her sister in law died. He didn't have any hair except a mowhawk on top of his head.
Try 1\4 teaspoon of cold pressed flaxseed oil in food each day for skin. May take awhile, but keep it up for several months..have had great results with this involving skin issues

Our cats are on Science Diet hydrolyzed protein food and snack. It expensive but they take out every last things out out of this food and my cat now has a full coat of fur. Wouldnt hurt to try.
I also have a dog allergic to everything. I mean literally everything. He eats the purina vegetarian hydrolyzed dog food along with some hypoallergenic supplements to fill his diet. 125 dollars every month and a half
Fun to see some Chinese Cresteds on the channel. My mom has three of them, two Powder Puff variant and one naked. The Powder Puff ones with a full coat of fur are actually pretty cute, even if they suffer from extreme seperation anxiety occasionally when my mom leaves her home. The naked variant is… let’s say an aquired taste when it comes to cuteness lol. His personality definitely does the heavy lifting
They are so cute! Gruff was a fighter! I love his long white hair against the bald background…he literally looks designer! And he was very well behaved. Maybe a bit timid and scared, but finitely a posh little pooch who definitely felt fantastic and like a handsome guy after his grooming! Lady was who grabbed my attention first though because of her ear hair…so cute..like a well loved stuffed animal! She was very well behaved too…poor girl has allergies like me! She looks so freaking adorable in her plaid outfit! These two look like they are very well loved and get along great. I’m so happy that both of them have been given the chance to be completely loved and to have a wonderful life! The hard thing about rescues is not knowing their age. I rescued my cat in May, and I originally thought she was still a kitten because of how skinny she was. I still estimate that she was newly an adult..like 7-8 months when I found her…but I know I could be wrong and not knowing her age bothers me if I think about it because I want to have a long life with her. I haven’t had a cat since my childhood. I got Tabi when I was around 6-7, and she passed the year I graduated, at 17. I didn’t know how old she was either, but I do know that she passed naturally, in her sleep. There were signs the 3nights before, but I was too young and inexperienced, I didn’t understand what it meant. I wish I had at the time, but losing her taught me a lot. I waited to rescue again because I wanted to know that I found the right one. And I do believe I waited until I found the right one!

Food can also be an allergen! Some dogs are super sensitive to certain proteins. Although the vet probably already tried that.
