Biggest concern for the people who oppose the nuclear power plant is, the way this country will respond to disasters. Time and time again, our government has a very pathetic disaster management skills. We saw how they cleaned the tons of crude oil spilled in Marina's waters with buckets. The remains are still present in Chennai's shores. And they are going to remain there for decades. Even today there are protests all over TN against the hydrocarbon wells deployed all over the most fertile regions of Cauvery delta. There had been leaks in these wells and the flames from these leaks are burning, till now for years together. The authorities have no answer to this. Though scientifically there are options to control the disasters, does the government really has the resources to control it? When we look through the eyes of science, its safe. But in practice, we have to look through the eyes of science and politics.
