Why is this border city so empty? Because you're walking around on a Sunday morning. On top of that you're walking in a part of the city where the concentration of people is low anyway.

All the gay bars are in this area. So maybe if you wanted to see many people the night before wouldve been better.
San Hazinto plaza. Plaza de los Lagartos (Alligator plaza). They had to remove the live alligators (there were 3), because the military guys would get drunk and jump in to wrestle with them.
El Paso del Norte is The Pass OF the North. Missionaries in Mexico would use this pass through the mountains to get to California. There is an El Paso of the South on the Canadian border. That pass was used by trappers traveling South through the Rockies.

Good morning AK on the border crossing, going through El Paso Street it's only coming from Ciudad Juarez into El Paso and the border crossing on Stanton Street is going from El Paso to Ciudad Juarez! But in a way that's a good thing you didn't have your passport because it's not too safe for you to go to Juarez if you're not familiar with the area, you have to go with someone that knows the city and that could speak good Spanish!! Stay safe!!
P/S during the weekday there are alot more people there and a lot of stores are open, it's so busy during the week that you can't even find parking half the time!

@@CptVXR It's a little different, but once you have a passport in the USA, it's almost just as easy to go through Canada from here as well. There is a checkpoint, but the process takes a few minutes at most and doesn't involve much, and then you're free to explore Canada. I was surprised, it's almost like going through another state (maybe Cali, they have some Agricultural checkpoints that are probably as time-consuming as the Canadian borders). Also, cruise-lines will also take you through various North and South American countries too, most obviously being much smaller than EU region countries.

    • @CptVXR
      @CptVXR 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@theangrycynic4389 I've walked from Niagara Falls, NY to Niagara Falls, ON, wasn't too painful but still doesn't compare to crossing a Schengen area border which is normally seamless to the point of being unnoticeable (have crossed from France-Belgium-Netherlands and back, Czechia-Slovakia, Slovakia-Czechia-Poland and Poland-Germany), only had documents checked from Poland to Germany at Frankfurt an der Oder station in April 2022 due to combo of still some covid checks and conflict in Ukraine creating large refugee exodus. All of the other border crossings were marked only by crossing a river or road markings changing. Outside the Schengen area also crossed the ROI-NI border in Ireland a few times, another blink and you'll miss it situation. Makes border crossings ridiculously easy to the point it's very common for people to go to work, education and shop on a routine basis. I understand that before 9/11 the USA-Canada border was less monitored than it is now? Perhaps one day the border controls there could be got rid of?

It's incredible to see such empty streets. So liberating after the messy situation with the migrants since 2021. I've lived in the Borderlands for some time and speak from personal experience.
It's like I am looking into Juárez, just different dimensions of it. To understand El Paso, TX, you need to visit Ciudad Juárez and Southern New Mexico. There's a Mexican heart that permeates throughout.
I'll say that pre-pandemic some businesses opened early and had great food at affordable prices. In time, things could pick up.
My memories of the Borderlands are filled with contrasts as stark as the desert 🏜️. The good memories here are of a simpler time where I could do more to be self-sufficient, which brought me pride, comfort and stability.
I pray that EP can heal from its wounds of recent - I think y'all know what I'm talking about.

I've found most downtowns pretty empty on weekends, especially on Sundays, especially at 7 in the morning. A lot of people are either in church or getting ready for it. Most businesses will be closed at this time, and probably closed all day on Sunday. Maybe ask someone next time how to pronounce something if you're unfamiliar. It's "ha-SEEN-toe". Honestly, Spanish is pretty easy to pronounce.

Let New Mexico be on Mountain time. If I had it my way, El Paso an Juarez would be on year round C.S.T. no more MDT or MST. Thats dead like that because the locals are treated 2nd after visitors imagine how live the local scene downtown would be if cops didnt still harrass the chicano locals.

This area is all revitalized, there is no one in downtown on a Sunday morning, you need to go see what the rest of the city looks like. I know you are not from El paso you are given wrong information about our city. Go up the street on any Friday evening and see the free bands and the and hundreds of people enjoying the outdoor music, next door is a state of the art baseball stadium that outshines any other in the country which is always sold out. Please have someone give you a real tour of our city

      Why?
I have, and nothing ever happens.
People are minding their own business.
Most humans are not criminals, despite your preconceptions.

Too. bad you didn't get to speak with some of the new immigrant people, if any, who are crossing; I'm told it takes 18 to 24 months or more for a visitors visa making int no wonder people cross illegal.

Hello there action kid I’m honored that you’re visiting my hometown and as you can see El Paso and its downtown area not exactly the nicest looking city as we are not even among America’s top 20 best cities so if you feel disappointed I completely understand you I wouldn’t give my hometown any credibility whatsoever if we lack any kind of progressive excitement whatsoever. Thanks for your video and visit

What is so bad about it?
It's unique and doesn't try to be anything it isn't.
      Also, there are beautiful areas.
This is not all of El Paso.
      It's a place with almost $700,000 residents.

You are not in the crowded area because there's a huge homeless immigrant population living on the streets.
    So empty? 🤔👀

People stupidly think the border is some lawless hinterland where drug cartels have open gun battles in the streets. It isn't true. Even in less populated border cities like Laredo or McAllen it isn't true. There aren't crowds of illegal immigrants running through the streets, either. If you want to understand the border, turn off the tabloid news and see it for yourself.

Pronounced sahn ha-seen-toe….. and it’s empty because it’s Sunday morning on a warm July morning in a small city. El Paso is very underrated and very unappreciated.
