In 2004, JC Penney sold Eckerd off in two deals: stores in the Northern regions of the US went to Jean Coutu (Canadian company, subsequently sold to Rite Aid in 2007) and stores from Colorado all the way to Florida (sold off to CVS).
Pet Supermarket is a really cool type of store. It we had a Pet Supermarket here in Weirton,WV, I'd shop there for my cat Skeeter. Have a Texaslicious Day!

This building was originally an Eckerd, which was acquired by CVS in certain regions back in 2004. I live around the corner from an ex-Eckerd now that is identical to this one, which is currently home to Advance Auto Parts.

JCP sold Eckerd/Genovese to CVS (southern states, converted to CVS stores) and Jean Coutu Group (northern regions whose stores kept the Eckerd name and were the ones sold to Rite Aid).
Yes ik what this place is I've been to pet supermarket countless times, I used to live in Fayetteville NC and next to Harris teeter they had one of these pet supermarkets and the cat and rabbit I have right now, I bought from pet supermarket, I love that place

There were never any Rite Aids in Texas. This was a former Eckerd, who sold their TX locations (and stores in other southern states) to CVS in 2004. Rite Aid acquired the remainder of Eckerd in 2007.

We still have some in the Greensboro Greensboro NC area near me and looks like they have a few stores in tx .where you are but don't know what location you are in..probably closed because of competition around like a petsmart or something

To me, the saddest part of this place is not knowing what happened to all the pets that weren't sold.

Yes, this was Eckerd originally. CVS acquired the Eckerds of Texas and other southern states in 2004, Rite Aid acquired them elsewhere 3 years later.
