I'm glad I could help! The designer replied to my post on BlueSky & confirmed that he'd swapped 2 things on 2 tiles to fix color distribution: every color pair (in both directions) appears twice. He also mentioned that the Target edition has otters instead of ducks, which the new regular small box edition has!
I thought this video was substantive. You are doing detective work out here! Comparing tiles, checking if the deluxe version can fit in a small box. Really great video and so excited for the possibility of a double dose this week! Also, I love your shirt!!

@@teaNgames It does appear to be very close in size if not the same. It has the same layout as far as the space for the tiles and the little compartment for the flower tokens. Now you've got me thinking I might need to pick up a copy with the deluxe tokens if they fit inside the smaller box! :)
Glad I found your channel. Thanks for the good comparison and your thoughts. It's frustrating when you like aspects of both and there's not a clear winner. I think I agree that even though the target edition's tiles are darker, I like the extra details they added. Without seeing it in front of me, I would probably like it just a bit brighter. I also get what you're saying about the elegance and simplicity (and feel?) of the wood tokens. However, the notch on the bottom of the target edition that help it almost click into place is very nice as well. Trying to figure out which version to possibly get for my wife so I will do some more research. Thanks!

Another choice to make😉 From what I've seen in other videos, it looks like the regular tokens in the new edition fit well, too! OoooooI like those new deluxe flowers! I got the new small box version and have really been enjoying it.
Does the box for the new small box version look about the same as the old one, as far as size goes?
