  • The Alamo is embedded in its story of the famous battle that took place in 1836. For 13 days, Texans decided to take arms against the Mexican military in their bid for independence from Mexico.
Ultimately, Gen. Santa Anna's forces would be victorious against the Texan Revolutionaries. However, that same year in 1836, Texas would indeed gain its independence, followed by statehood in 1845 after joining the United States.
This tour gives an overview of this piece of Great American History.

When I went to see The Alamo, I was VERY SORELY DISAPPOINTED. I had expected to see a fairly large area, with markers where the bodies were burned, the route the guys took to try to get reinforcements.....I saw commercial shops practically built ON TOP of the Mission. Very sad. I did see a ghost, though. In the Mission itself. So, I guess, not a total loss.
