If you are having a pie and a flat white every morning and have attended an all black game your pretty much a NZ citizen now. I’m a primary school teacher, and despite having no Māori heritage myself (which I am honestly incredibly disappointed by….) I helped teach/guide my schools Kapa Haka group for nearly 8 years. I loved every minute of it. I am dedicated to learning as much Te Reo as possible… do I think I’ll ever be fluent? Probably not. But can I understand/interpret words and phrases… yes. Sandflies can be a real problem in the South Island, particularly in Fiordland and all the way along the West Coast where they can appear in clouds so thick you end up inhaling them. If you really want to show the sandflies who's boss, make a 50/50 mixture of Dettol disinfectant and olive oil and slap that on. I had a job in Perth, Australia to teach of all things, LATIN in a private school. Wife and I separated 9 years ago, left ministry and trained to be a chef at 55 years old! Absolutely love it. Been to Calgary quite a few times with work. I did my block culinary in Hope, BC.
Gorgeous the South Island. I was stunned at how incredible Dunedin is! It's a perfect size. It seems to be too good to be true!
Have a wonderful, adventure+BEER filled life with that beautiful lady! Make great memolries..they can sustain you in some tough times!
I wish you God's Love and Peace,
Donovan!

New Zealand TH-camr @Clay tall story’s nephew passed away in that waterfall he has a video on what happened there RIP Mikhail 😢
8:27 Why be different from the average NZ driver?
btw. the toot is an acknowledgement
What do you mean by that?
@@donovankelly12 The average NZ driver will never let anyone pass . They will speed up where there is a passing lane and then slow down again after the lane ends. Sometimes ,on the motorway, you will encounter morons forming a rolling road block by travelling abreast , one in each lane , with traffic held up behind them.
@@PaulG.x hahahaha. Thank you for saying this. We’ve been saying this the last few larger road trips, especially on the more flat highways around Christchurch, “Why is everyone going 95 in a 100 zone and speed up to 115 when there’s a passing lane!!! AHHHHH”
@@donovankelly12 haha, happens every day. and on every trip you can guarantee there will be some slow van or older person going past the slow bay instead of using it!!!
East Coast Kiwi here. Still a lot of pain and rebuilding going on here, after the cyclone.
The same insurance companies that ripped off the people of Christchurch are now doing the same thing in Turanganui-a-Kiwa😢
Ahhh jeeze that’s such a shame to hear
Welcome to the PIE SIDE, young Padawan
Hahaha looking to become the master before I leave.
6 weeks in akld is to long…..can’t stand the place….i live there because I’m on a well paid salary…apart from that it has a really diverse beautiful landscape from rugged coastlines to rolling green hills, epic mountainous snow peaked landscapes and everything else you’ve probably already seen. Nice vlog. Beware of the NZ sun in summertime…it has some bite.
We enjoyed our time spending a month in Mt. Roskill, Red Beach, and Downtown. Used it as a hub to explore up North and the Coramandel Peninsula as well. I could see the downsides though, cost of living and traffic. Other than that we met some great people and had some good beers, spent a lot of time on making our way around via ferries so I got nothing but good things to say haha
Yeah but to be fair statistically Canada is the coldest inhabited country on earth lol😂
Haha this is very true. There are a lot of places that don’t have brutal winters, but NZ has all the beautiful snowy mountains without the freezing cold weather 😊
@@donovankelly12 yeah we'll each to there own. Personally anything below about 15°c is too damn cold which is one of the reasons I live in the bay of Islands. Kia ora ( hullo) and haiere mai ( welcome) to NZ
@@johanmeischke9189 haha fair enough. Bay of Islands was the pretty well the first place we travelled to from Auckland and I’ll never forget it. Such a great spot.
Sounds like you need to travel around your country a bit more.
Yeah I think that’s fair to say! I’ve been to ever major city but definitely need to drive out to the Maritimes and explore the north one summer.
@@donovankelly12 if you love NZ you will love Vancouver island.
@@badchefi I do love Vancouver Island. It’s funny you say that because the Tofino area reminds me of a lot of places here, we were just talking about that the other day
@@donovankelly12 I had an uncle life there and visited him back in 1982 - the only other place that felt like home after NZ for me.
