    That’s actually crazy to me that this is both exactly the same as how you build a pc nowadays, and that you would get the exact same performance today. On a modern midrange pc, replace doom with doom 2016, quake 2 and half life with games like modern warfare and god of war, and replace gta 3 with cyberpunk (a stand in for gta 6) and you’ll see the exact same results.

    Cool video! Not to mention that I really enjoyed the upgrade section of the video, which was also very period appropriate to the build.
    As for the shutdowns, you might want to try to disable USB in the BIOS and check if it shuts down properly. ACPI on old motherboards and within Windows 98 are notorious for not working properly due to not met standards.
    Good luck and have fun! :D

      Thanks, glad you enjoyed the video :) It is possible that could be because of USB, as we used USB keyboard during testing. We'll try it out.

    If video game suggestions are still open: 1999's Unreal Tournament is in my personal opinion one of the best games of all time. A fast and frenetic action game, very demanding for 90's systems and can run under a large number of graphic APIs

    A very nice mobo, integrated yamaha sound, with XG engine and DOS support.

    I suspect the Rage 128 Pro cards has 64bit memory bus as some of the chips are missing. When you have the "full" version paired with proper drivers, it actually performs rather nice.

      Nope, 128bit. We have a "regular" 128 Pro as well, so we plan to compare them. But we suspect that they are very similar. Hope that the video didn't come as overtly negative to the poor Rage card, as we were actually quite happy with it's performance.

    should definitely include Jedi Knight Dark Forces 2 and Mysteries of the Sith. Seeing this kind of stuff really takes me back.

      it is agp not pci express

    • @attictiertech
      @attictiertech  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It would fit physically if you place it on the board, but not in the socket :D PCI Express that 4060 uses was first standardized in 2003, and first board with it appeared in 2004. It was preceded by AGP (Which this motherboard has and our GPUs use) and PCI before that (those multiple white connectors).

    The ATI Rage was a borderline scam graphics card, priced like a tnt 2 with horrible performance
