I think someone said that before that krewella were almost virtually non existent and they begged mcat for popularity and to release their song on the label. And then they became well known.
I’ve always felt 005 to be the first comp to have an overall step up in quality. There’s still a lot of tracks that don’t sound great, but it actually has a handful I feel are worth coming back to. Here’s my list: 1. Krewella - Killin’ It 2. Insan3lik3 - Bad Pitched 3. Mr FijiWiji - Gina 4. Matduke - Disco Dancer 5. Day One - Game Changer 6. 23 - Fresh 7. Noisestorm - Renegade 8. Obisidia - Illusion 9. Kings of the City - Make Me Worse (Muzzy Remix) 10. Eminence - Laguna 11. Tristam - Follow Me 12. Noisestorm - Backlash 13. Arion - Internet Rebellion 14. Noisestorm - Let it Roar 15. Tristam & Rogue - Pushed Away 16. Muzzy - Dust Devil 17. Varien - Throne of Ravens 18. Tristam - Who We Are 19. Ephixa & Stephen Walking - Substance 20. Varien - Mirrors
20) Ephixa & SW - Substance How the hell did you have this in the middle, I'll never know. One of the worst on the label. 19) Muzzy - Make Me Worse I'll take mediocre over "never want to listen to it again". This is the latter. I hate ascending+descending woopwoops as a drop. 18) Varien - Mirrors I hold Varien to a high standard. This one commits a cardinal sin of doing a genre switch-up during the song that doesn't work. 17) Tris&Rogue-Pushed Away Liked it as a kid, but nothing about it has aged well. 16) Tristam - Follow Me I rate the drop, but I hate the production and the vocal chops. 15) Obsidia - Illusion From this song onwards, they're at least ok and I'd check 'em out again out of nostalgia. One of his better ones, relatively calm for his work. 14) Day One - Game Changer If you deleted Day One out of MC discography, I wouldn't even notice. Idc for his songs, but this one's ok. 13) 23 - Fresh That drop is fun for the first 8 seconds and then you realize how repetitive is. It's an earworm tho, I respect it. 12) Arion - Internet Rebellion I tip my hat off for the message and it's a nice window in time. As a song it's just... Arion. Still respect it. 11) Noisestorm - Let It Roar Oh god, why did there have to be a descending-ascending climbing the bloody stairs up&down as a main drop idea?! Literally, I like everything else about this tune. 10) Noisestorm - Backlash Brings back some Minecraft memories (PBat!), but I won't go out of my way 2 listen 2 it. 9) Tristam - Who We Are I'm shocked I put it this high. I just find the melody catchy and fun, even if it's mixed poorly. If only there wasn't that earrape at the very end. 8) Muzzy - Dust Devil Step down from Riding the Storm, because it's mostly a Pendulum clone, but a disabled one (weak mix). If smo played it at a party I'd vibe, tho 7) Krewella - Killin' It Playlist material from here on. Hasn't aged that bad honestly and I miss Krewella doing stuff like this. I'd put it higher if not for the "edgy" lyrics. 6) Matduke - Disco Dancer His production was always meh, but this one is just a vibe. Fun melody that didn't overstate its welcome. 5) Varien - Throne of Ravens I'm shocked you put it so low. The drop at 2:13 seconds just slays, man. If it were remixes today, it could be sublime! 4) Mr FijiWiji - Gina I forgot thus existed until seeing this vid so I relistened it and yeah, it's gorgeous. 3) Insan3Lik3 - Bad Pitched Never really saw this as peak electro or peak Insan3Lik3 (prefer Dat Voices), but it's aged quite well. I love the bridges! 2) Eminence - Laguna Idc if it's simplistic, sometimes a song needs to be that way to appreciate it. Always loved it. 1) Noisestorm - Renegade As a kid I'd swap this with Laguna, but the melodies are so nostalgic, it sweeps the #1.
My ranking 1. Eminence - Leguna 2. Stephen walking & Ephixa - Substance 3. Tristam - Follow me 4. Noisestorm - Rengade 5. Makduke - Disco dacner 6. Mr. Fijiwiji - Gina 7. Day one - Game changer 8. Insan3lik3 - Bad pitched 9. Krewella - Killin' it 10.Kings of the city - Make me worse (Muzzy remix) 11. Arion - Internet Rebellion 12. 23 - Fresh 13. Tristan - Who we are 14. Tristan & Rogue - pushed away 15. Noisestorm - Let it roar 16. Muzzy - Dust Devil 17. Obsidia - illusion 18. Noisestorm - Backlash 19. Varien - Mirror 20. Varien - Thone of Ravens
20. It's so fucking unbelievable it's Tristam 19. Rogue was a g1rl?!! 😱 18. Thanks god they all improved in the future 17. Just ok tbh 16. Idk if this tried to be funny 15. A vip of this would be hell sick cuz it has outstanding idea 14. Somehow not bad at all 13. New Age is definitely the newer age to this 12. #18 11. A better old dubstep on the label 10. Actually aged like spoilt milk but can't dislike this tbh 9. Prob the only bearable old Tristam dubstep 8. This is horrid or bangs? Idk 7. Beautiful but not that interesting 6. Bearable old drumstep at best 5. Rock the House but slowed down lmfao 4. I find this beautiful 3. Decent tbh 2. Nice glitch hop tbh 1. This is nostalgic, beautiful, yet hard. Shit aged like fine wine
back when krewella was the largest artist the label had signed. and look where we are now!
I think someone said that before that krewella were almost virtually non existent and they begged mcat for popularity and to release their song on the label. And then they became well known.
Why does the kick in internet rebellion hit so hard
Edit: holy shit i didn’t realize how high quality bad pitched was for the time, song sounds nuts.
yeah I always thought Bad Pitched was insane

seriously, how did tristam go from honestly one of the worst producers on monstercat to actually good?
it's almost as if over time people get better at doing things.
Watch Sabai redemption arc following suit
Ahh the compilarion where the releases got a lot more iconic
