Then again, this song starts off hopefully. Like we'e gonna get the old vibe again. But no, goes into pure chaotic harshness. Not Till Fjalls 2 at all. Should've kept the old DEEP DEEP vocals, Vintersorg, and sad, sorrowful, heartfelt melodies. Tussmorkret, Stilla ,Isjungfrun, and Urberget, Aldst av Troner for examples. But no, you just couldn't resist putting all your technicality into again .
OK so I'm a huge Vintersorg fan and Hedniskhjartad EP and Till Fjalls are forever in my heart as my two favourite records of all time. But the fact he didn't keep his very deep,Viking sounding baritone vocals on TIll Fjalls del II pissed me off alot. I feel likes he's cheated us , YET AGAIN. "no more progressive trickery" apparently. Well, his lighter , higher pitched vocals are heavily reminiscent of his miserable descent into prog. If he's kept the old vocals , and the simple, heartfelt melodies that capture the soul of the North, like before on the aforementioned two records, THEN this would be Till Fjalls Del II, And it'd be given an 11 our of 10 by me. For me this is just about a 7. I'm disappointed. The song structures are more complex , there's more emphasis on harsh black metal, none of that epic, ancient old sounding pagan beauty and pure art like before. Why did you do this us, Mr V. ? This isn't till fjalls 2. It's just another new Vintersorg record... Don't get hopes up then smash them into splinters for those who adore your art...
Samuel White To be fair, his old baritone vocals always sounded a bit dopey and unbefitting of the material, standing out in a bad way. With this he seems to have tapped into that old style just enough to give the cleans more depth and take way much of the thin, nasally tone he's had for the past number of years and releases. Just a sign of the times and evolution in approach is all.
Dude you've commented this one so many vintersorg songs, get over it, times have changed, Vintersorg's sound is evolving and there's nothing you can do about it.
Andreas!, always amazing!!!
Awesome intro
