Better to come to Baguio this weekend Mergim rather than today as the weather is still gloomy here, plus the weekly Sunday Session Market (where a whole street was closed for small local businesses to sell their products and for the street performers to perform) was postponed this past Sunday. Hopefully weather’s gonna improve today up to the weekends so you could witness the fabulous Session Road Sunday Market.
I still remember back when the route was still shorter, Santolan to Cubao. I think that was back in 2004 when we rode it. Eventually, it became part of my daily commute as a college student, lots of good memories there.
Construction of an underground train is three times more expensive than an elevated train, but the construction time is not much different. Maintenance of underground stations is higher and repairs are higher. In Thailand, especially in Bangkok, it is mostly Thai companies that can build all the civil works because we have Thai companies that also accept construction work abroad.
Based on our study as a Railway Engineer. In 2003 only LRT-2 phase one was operated. Stations from Santolan to Araneta-Cubao, and it was on the birthday of former president, Gloria Macapagal Arroyo. A year later, the remaining stations were being inaugurated except for Recto, which opened on October 29, 2004. Although the original design of LRT-2 was from Antipolo to Tutuban, East stations such as Masinag and Mariki-Pasig stations had some delays due to different issues that came up, while in Tutuban station, where I have no idea yet if they'll still push it through since there where lot of roads, buildings, and businesses will be affected if they will continue the construction. As per why the Philippines don't construct a subway or railway that goes through the city center, first, yes, it is because of the cost, but also it is a very long process, rights of way, and the availability of technology. But the good news is that the Metro Manila Subway Project has already begun, the tunnel boring machines that will be used in the project are already here in the Philippines, and soil testing is underway already. It will connect north to south, with a direct link to the airport. It is funded by the Japanese government through a loan agreement via JICA.
Yes, LRT Line 2 is Very Delayed, So Please, the Government with president BBM, Should Implement the Land Acquisition Reforms, and have a China Style Land Acquisition, that Fast-Tracks the Construction of Infrastructure, and in my opinion, the Maharlika Fund is Considered Good News because it helps the Philippines to Become First-World, and Full of Infrastructures, because without Sovereign Wealth Fund, the 4 Asian Tigers will Not Become First-World, so meaning, to say, I Can't afford the Waiting for more than 5 Years for a Metro Line to Be Completed, we need only 4-5 Years, for Both the PNR-NSCR and Metro Manila Subway to be Completed, and Inside of it, it will look like China's Modern Subway, and Railway Stations, and Because Metro Manila Subway is Near to the CBDs, it will require a Robot Train Pusher that is More Efficient, for the Commuters to be Packed to the Train during the Rush Hours.
