The Shorts that inspired this video: • Asmongold meets his TR...
I saw a TikTok video on TH-cam Shorts that made me want to talk about the current state of the Internet. I know it's pretty easy to see something online and immediately jump to the conclusion that it's all going downhill, but I'm just using the video as an example to make my point across.
It was the first time I saw this "rotmaxxing" term. According to the Urban Dictionary, Rotmaxxing means: "maximizing efficiency in everything related to the decline of one's own health or well-being. This can be categorized by a deliberate lack of socialization, hygiene, or any other form of 'upkeep' for one's own body."
In other words, a new term for loneliness and isolation.
Just take a look at it. Just take a look at the comments. I was shocked about how normal everything seemed to everyone in the comments. Even Asmongold wasn't surprised. I don't know, maybe I'm too old for this and it's all I joke I don't get, but why does everything feel so artificial?
Am I the only one getting this impression? It all feels forced and faked. It's not new at all, but it seems to be even more frequent now. We can't let the Internet become a normalizer of mental illness.
Of course, assuming that these videos are all true. But even not being true, imagine someone seeing this. Imagine a kid seeing this and thinking it's alright to leave your room looking like a post-war apocalypse. I do hope we come up with some way to deal with all this.
