  • Hello scrappers and planet lovers. This video will show you all the free copper you can get off of circuit boards. Copper is currently at a great price, which means it is a great metal to collect. I will show you how to safely and effectively separate the metals in order to maximize your profits and divert as much recyclable materials away from the landfill as possible.

    I depopulate everything off my boards and do just what you do here as it makes a big difference in your return. This is a great hobby for me being retired and all I have is time. This is a great way to stay busy and stock pile things of value it's better than saving money in a bank these days. Once you get a nice pile saved up take it in and sell it when prices are up and just hold into it when prices are down. Most all boards once depopulate has copper plate on them and a lot of solder. I intend to experiment and see if they are any silver in the solder and recover the copper plating from all my electronics boards. Hydrochloric Acid and Peroxide is cheap to use to dissolve copper and solder for refining.

      Nice to hear. Yeah, I too stockpile, but sometimes my wife gets annoyed. Cast aluminum was down for most of a year so I had approx. 12 bbqs lids and bottoms in the back waiting for prices to go up. I am curious about the silver solder. Let me know how that works out. Stay well

      @@TinManScrapper don't forget all ic chips most contain gold bonding wire in them. I have yet to process any myself got close to 3 kilos saved up so far. But from my research they can have up to 2 to 3 grams of .999 gold per kilo. That's a really good return of gold in my opinion but I have yet to test that for myself. But my research has been pretty solid so far so I have good reason to believe the ic's will give good yield.

    FYI, I scrapped the copper off of the 6 circuit boards (excluding the transformers) and got 13.25 oz. of copper. At 2:53 the copper is actually #1 copper wire due to its thickness. I made almost $3.55 from the copper compared to approximately $0.24 from the circuit boards at my scrapyard.

    Every bit of copper, no matter the time I spend on extraction of it (minus the super thin insulated crap) adds money to my pocket to invest in other things that pay a dividend! One mans trash is my way to wealth preservation :) found a super fast way to smash open a transformer the other day, nothing but a hammer & protective gear needed, stoked!

    Good day Boy it does add up. I am surprized that your dad doesn't take it off. I drive for neighbors Mennonites, found old cell phone plastic back, but on inside of back looked like copper? I did peel it off. I took 20 lbs low grade in to scrap yard $2.00 , now this was a half yr. ago, so take all copper off. Thanks

      I think sometimes it depends on time and price. He seems to get a better price for his circuit boards. But I think it is always worth it.

  • @lenscap8925
    @lenscap8925 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    The little transformers-the ones you don't take off...can be "de-coppered" easily. Pull off the board /put in vice with metal sides in jaws/hacksaw through one side of copper/screwdriver on other side/pull out. about as simple as it gets. As far as the little spooled copper-put a thin screwdriver in the middle and pull.

    • @TinManScrapper
      @TinManScrapper  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are right, but not worth taking apart for the small amount of copper. They are mostly paper, better to get transformer weight for them.

    • @TinManScrapper
      @TinManScrapper  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Not a silly question. I actually put them in a container and bring them in as steel. Some are brass so they go in brass. Also if the screws are in good condition, I also use them for other things.

    I have a question I just started scrapping about 4 months ago so I'm just learning with circuit boards and there's little buttons on some circuit boards is there anything valuable inside of them? And my other question is what's inside of switches to turn things on

    • @TinManScrapper
      @TinManScrapper  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Little bit of brass or copper inside switches….usually brass if you mean little on/off buttons, if light switches nice pieces of brass. The little push buttons have a small hint of silver, they are silver contacts, but too small for me to bother with

      Actually going to have an upcoming video on places to find silver when scrapping next Friday. There a few places to find it. I don’t actually separate it yet, I just gather it up since very small amount if process one little silver contact. Eventually I will get nitric acid and that dissolves the metals except silver. From there you have to melt. Thanks and stay well
