My M40i is 5 years old now and I don't have creaky door handles ! As for noises, I have a (loudly) squeaking exhaust flap that I'll get fixed at the next service and a rubbing noise from the roof/window seals that a bit of rubber softener should fix. The car is such an event to drive. I was blasting up a 3 lane road (I'm in the UK) tonight, in the rain and dark, 80mph, ambient light glowing and this solid feel that I wasn't in a convertible. My happy place, and then I can drop the top when the weather is better. It just does everything as a daily driver. Still love it !
It is great to hear that you have such satisfaction in this car. I recently ordered a 2025 with the Handschalter Package and anticipate it arriving in the spring.
I have mine for almost 5 years now and very happy with the car. I had some little rattles coming from the top, but I found out it is due to the seals which go all around the roof and it makes some noise especially in the back. I solved it by applying some special grease every few months, which makes it pretty much noise free. Apart from this, which I think it's part of the nature of the car, I haven't had any single issue. Just regular maintenance which in my country is even free for 10 years/100k Kms...
@@SoA-Horseman It is in Switzerland, most of the Premium brands offer that here. Though, I think it's just marketing, I'm pretty sure they are just hiding that cost in the price of the car when you buy it :)
I just traded mine in for the '25 manual. Had the '24 for a year though. Loved it so much I wanted an extra connection. New one will be here by Xmas. Nice shifter, I had the crystal one in my automatic as well.
@@SoA-Horseman I went with Thundernight metallic on the outside again. Last time I had black w/ blue stitching inside. This time I'm going cognac, but the manual special edition version. The finishing on that right rear rim should not be affected by power washing or chemicals(unless it's something not intended for cars). I've seen this on a Z4 30i that was parked next to my G82 M4C after a service just a month ago. BMW should cover that under warranty.
I’m in Austin and I’ve seen one z4 in the last 6 months, so definitely under appreciated here. I’m looking to purchase in the next few weeks, but will probably get CPO or used 2020 M40i model. Are there any z4 groups in central Texas that you’re a part of?
Hey there! No I'm not part of any groups. No time lol. I'm sure that there are a few Z4 groups out here, but I've never gone hunting for them. I go to many a car meet here to take photos, and those are already hard enough to plan with my schedule. Can't imagine the FOMO I'll get for missing out of rides I know about too! LOL. It's nice being a "unicorn" here in San Antonio. Though a few more seem to have popped up in recent months. Best of luck on your hunt. If you decide to go to the San Antonio BMW, speak with Rolando.
Nice video!I wanted to ask where you got that crystal aftermarket addons. Is it difficult to install, and does the touchpad on the scroll wheel still work with it? Thanks
@@eksdee3348 Got it off of Amazon. It was from China so not OEM. Did it with my 30i as well. Whole set was about $400. Also had someone install it since it requires some coding and also ensuring to disconnect battery. Touchpad works with the dial. ;)

@@richardribeiro501 I think the point of it was people aren’t taking this thing to Costco for shopping, but a regular grocery store is more appropriate.
If you don't like the sound...take it back to the dealer you purchased it from and ask them to remedy it. No grip is because it's an automatic...the manual is a slightly better performing car...especially for driver who prefer to shift a 6-Speed Stick. Get those rattles and squeaks fixed...a year already and you haven't addressed it with whom you bought it from. Who is Anette?
I use pressure hoses to do an initial rinse and then foam cannon. I don't get close and don't use narrow angles on it. Can't say the same thing for the wheel which is what bothers me... I posted my wash routine actually due to folks asking. Not surprised about your grip comment - I don't mind driving stick shift, but it's just not great due to a health issue I have that would make daily driving this car risky. The rattles just started recently, the squeaks in the door handle is old. No idea who Anette is... where did you hear this?
It's better than listening to wind and my heavy breathing... Either way the feed back will be "no music" or "why am i listening to you breathing so much?" can't win and i'd rather opt in for something more pleasing to the ears. :D Thanks for the feedback. For some reason there's always one person out there that hates music.
Yeah but you’re also not going to get away from that. What material are you expecting? Metal is heavy. Carbon fiber is expensive. There is a difference between cheap plastic and high quality plastic. BMW uses the latter.
I see the logics there, but also, it's a feeling, I'm not rational here. It just feels wrong to pay a lot for good plastic. And yes, I like more natural materials, leather, aluminum.. Some plastic also want hurt, but it should reduce the cost, and it shouldn't be all plastic. The materials are reasonable in BMW for family hatchbacks. But if you buy a soul honey like z4, it shouldn't be all plastic. Just my humble opinion.
@@anonymoususernamedwell…. It’s not ALL plastic. But again what other material would you be expecting. Modern cars, in general, consist of plastic, aluminum and leather. This BMW does as well. I mean I’d love to have carbon fiber inside, but that would drive up cost sooo much. A few pieces in the cabin are aluminum.
