This also explains why Robert (an older Quincy) was very afraid when he wasn’t chosen to go above with Yhwach. - NaNaNa Schrift is “U The Underbelly”, with it he can analyze the Reiatsu of a target over time. This allows him to determine an opponent's spiritual power distribution. He can then imprint his letter onto his target which is called the "Morphine Pattern". This allows him to pinpoint the holes in a target's Reiatsu and attack them, increasing their size until the target's Reiatsu depletes and they are eventually rendered unconscious. It’s certainly powerful given that it worked on Aizen, but as mentioned, Aizen is restrained which is likely the only reason there are holes in his Reiatsu - The anime alters the Nanao and Kenpachi interaction slightly. In the manga the order of events are very different, Ukitake hadn’t even used the Kamikake ritual and they were all in Mayuri’s lab for this scene. Kenpachi does arrive looking for Yachiru, however it’s Kisuke who 1st stops him from trying to leave, which seemingly annoys Kenpachi, and Nanao steps in before saying what she says here. This scene is slightly better in the manga in that it shows how seriously Nanao is taking her role as Lieutenant, that she’s willing and capable to step up when Shunsui is occupied (Cause he was still in Muken talking to Aizen at this point in the manga). Gotta give her props for stepping up to an upset Kenpachi. - Tite Kubo revealed that the new TYBW episode originally cut out the comedy scene about bowl cuts with Shinji, Hiyori, & Soi Fon until Kubo asked the anime staff to include it since it shows their cute side - Sidenote: Fans are jokingly upset that a Yoruichi backshot moment was removed, as was jokes surrounding Orihime’s dress in the episode. - Sidenote 2: Aizen being able to sense Yhwach’s Spiritual Pressure is likely noted to inform us that Aizen is on the same tier as him (As in Transcendent). Its 100% mandatory to read the TYBW manga after you finish the anime it’s Tite Kubo at his peak with art style and presentation that in my opinion no anime studio could possible do justice for example Ichibei vs Yhwach. Why would someone question about Mayuri's aesthetics? Why would someone think that Aizen's voice doesn't fit? Only someone who has never watched Bleach seriously and we can find it out in all these reaction videos.
I actually so grateful they don't forget side characters like Makimaki , shino , yuki , afro-san, lemura, rikichi and even give them some screentimes. Yeah, they not really important and ditch aside most of the time but as bleach fan, we easily recognise and appreciate the cameos. Also the anime includes a few light hearted moments here and there. This episode basically 'calm before the storm' which like Shunsui said they will storming the soul palace after this.
Aizen's attitude here is quite interesting. He appears a little cockier in the manga, but he's a little more sadder here. Which is a good decision to me- Aizen has been alone in Muken for a really long time, and if we look back at what Ichigo said about him before, he wanted people to connect to (him pretending to be cold is simply a facade to cover up for that). Seeing the Vizards again was lovely, as well as SO many of the side characters that we haven't seen in ages, like Shino from the first episode, or Mashiro, the green haired lieutenant. Without giving too much away, I think the word you're looking for the blonde guy (Jugram) is... downcast? Or perhaps melancholic. You're on point about him, he does appear unfazed but also a little saddened by everything. You will get your answer to why he's like that soon. Mayuri is a pure freak, but it's absolutely hilarious.
I agree, Mayuri is nuts. It's hypocritical to me that Aizen was frowned upon for doing his experiments, but Mayuri gets a pass for doing equally if not more grotesque experiments. Not a feet guy but let me try my godly hand at defending Mayuri. He is a biological engineer and a scientist by all means. He is no fighter, no politician, and by all means no saint. From the very beginning, we have seen that he is into body modifications etc. Even his own sword is more of a biological weapon than anything. Even his own high level squad members are like a team of biological weapons or freak experiments. So you ask why toes? Why body parts? Well its Mayuri. Science and biology first. Style is an afterthought. His weapons and tech is more body part oriented than actual advanced technology. Also don't forget he has probably cut up lots of quincy bodies. Killed thousands and thousands of "test subjects" and all for the sake of the soul society. He has many spare arms and legs to go around in his intentions.

If this were following the manga closely we would only have about 1/4 of the arc left. But we have over 1/3 of the episodes to go. 52 in total. The line where kon tells ichigo he said the wrong line and that he was supposed to beat him up is because in the manga version of the scene ichigo actually does get angry and beat kon. Kon's been reading the manga and checking the script. That scene was totally different in the manga. Since almost the entirety of ichigo vs ishida is new to the anime in the manga ichigo only gets pushed off the palace. The way he gets knocked out is by hitting his head on orihime's head.
Mayuri's weird biotech shit is so yuck! but I also don't hate it since it fits his other technologies (observation bacteria, and that weird snail eye sword addon thing) also your "primordial soup" line about what Hyori poured for the gateway is an interesting idea!

It's definitely of at least the same size, if not bigger, as that one was. === If Aizen had directed that immense blast of spiritual pressure at the court guard squads then they would have almost certainly been disintegrated considering that if it wasn't for "Chair-sama" then even the Soul Shield Membrane would have had a hole blown through it. === Now you understand "Chair-sama". It's really nice to see that, during the time skip, Mayuri was working hard to develop technology that could counter even transcendent beings. I do want to make something clear though, just to hopefully avoid arguments (I'm fine with debate but not pointless arguments where things go in circles and inevitably degenerate into insults) with idiots, Aizen's restraints don't suppress his power in a way he suddenly has less to use. Aizen’s voice in the dub is way worse. He’s honestly better watching in Japanese and in tybw arc in general. well the thing about mayuri is he just like that aesthethic, It doesnt necessarly serve any practical function, practically just for shits and giggles.
If this were following the manga closely we would only have about 1/4 of the arc left. But we have over 1/3 of the episodes to go. 52 in total.
The line where kon tells ichigo he said the wrong line and that he was supposed to beat him up is because in the manga version of the scene ichigo actually does get angry and beat kon. Kon's been reading the manga and checking the script.
That scene was totally different in the manga. Since almost the entirety of ichigo vs ishida is new to the anime in the manga ichigo only gets pushed off the palace. The way he gets knocked out is by hitting his head on orihime's head.

Aizen's Kurohitsugi in this episode is at least as powerful as the one he used against Dangai Ichigo and that one was done with a full incantation when he was in his "butterfly" form. It's definitely of at least the same size, if not bigger, as that one was.

If Aizen had directed that immense blast of spiritual pressure at the court guard squads then they would have almost certainly been disintegrated considering that if it wasn't for "Chair-sama" then even the Soul Shield Membrane would have had a hole blown through it.

Now you understand "Chair-sama". It's really nice to see that, during the time skip, Mayuri was working hard to develop technology that could counter even transcendent beings.
I do want to make something clear though, just to hopefully avoid arguments (I'm fine with debate but not pointless arguments where things go in circles and inevitably degenerate into insults) with idiots, Aizen's restraints don't suppress his power in a way he suddenly has less to use. He's still just as strong with them as he is without them. They merely keep his spiritual pressure contained to prevent grandiose displays, nothing more.

Note: I know Shunsui says suppression later on but it's not the word I would have chosen to use because it leads people to misinterpret how the restraints work if they fixate on it. The earlier line that I quoted above is more accurate to how it should be interpreted. People treat the word suppression as if it is actively preventing and weakening the use of Aizen's spiritual pressure, despite simply containing it, because that's how supression is usually used in anime.

According to Q&A #689 by Tite Kubo on his fansite "Klub Outside", the main reason Bazz-B and the Bambies survived the Auswählen with most of their powers intact was because the Auswählen takes a majority of the energy from older and weaker Quincy first, in that order. Since Bazz-B and the Bambies are relatively young and strong Quincy, they were not as affected.
Note: I assume NaNaNa also fell under the category of relatively young which is why he survived.

@@peternash7104 I thought he didnt lose it, he absorbed his zanpakuto hence why he can still release his kyoka suigetsu whenever he wants. Thats why he was able to put Yhwach under his kyoka suigetsu in cour 1 without having to do his sword release.

Aizen’s voice in the dub is way worse. He’s honestly better watching in Japanese and in tybw arc in general. I hated him as a villain in the original story and found him corny af with his slick back hair and monotone arrogant drawl.
I like maiyuri’s aesthetics honestly too. It’s supposed to be horrifying always has been and falls well into expectations. Can tell Meghan really does not like body horror 😂
I think Bleach is failing us on giving us climatic surprises when it comes to presenting badass characters like Aizen and Grimmjaw, since they kind of showed them since the very begining of the arc. It's kind of lame now that they've appeared
