      Awesome news, on all fronts. Russell will enjoy the 16, and we will be very happy to see you next summer with your new 17. Send me your e-mail address so I can add you to the mailing list with updates for next year's Elbow Run.

    Excellent sailing adventure. I wish could join you with my Richard Woods Strike 18 Trimaran.
    Rod, you are an excellent story teller.

    Wow! That’s the spirit of sailing in only 34 minutes. What a pack! What an inviting gang of true lovers of the natural laws. Congrats to a very nice vid of the Elbow Run 2019. Next year maybe this can inspire more participants to grab a camera or two?
    Thnx for sharing m8!

      Again, thank you so very much for your comments and advice. If only there was not an ocean between us, I would be insisting that you join us for the Elbow Run 2020. It is a great bunch of guys that have been sharing this experience - we are all very grateful.

      Rod, You never know 😉
      Life has learned me that nothing is as hard as knowing what’s around the corner. 😄

      Miq, agreed. Translation (in every language) "Never say never". Your presence on the Run would be magical.

    Great Video Rod! You're a bit of a drive but I'll certainly enjoy the sites via your site! BestRoy

      Thanks, Roy. Yes, it is a drive. In the past I have thought I would love to head your way with my boar - you have some very interesting terrain to explore. Like you, I have resigned to seeing it through videos such as yours. Fair winds

    The James Wharram Mana looked very good. I can see where on this lake the winds would rip. Those windriders looked good to.

      Thanks you. Yes, this is a lake where one needs to pay attention. We are very fortunate to have such a great sailing location.

    I like watching the Elbow Run series. Makes me wish I lived nearby. But at least I can dream while watching the videos. Hope there will be a 2020 Run! I now live on a 48x1+/_ mile long/wide lake and would like to do something similar to your Elbow Run. To see how easy it would be with a WR17 it would help to know how well it points. I've only sailed mine once in a very light breeze. Would you happen to know/remember how well (degrees to true wind) a WR17 pointed? THANKS

      Nice to hear from you, Luciano. You can be sure there will be an Elbow Run 2020. We already have a record number of boats indicating they will be joining us so it promises to be ojur biggest one yet.. Your lake sounds like a wonderful location for holding a similar event. Just let people know they can join you and then do it. That is how we started - the first two years we were only two boats and slowly the word got out and now we are about to enjoy the eighth year. Sorry I don't know the pointing angle for the WindRider - trimarans are not known for their ability to point high but their speed makes up for any limitations that may cause. Enjoy your new boat, and post lots of videos.

    Can you tell me the dimensions and where you found the symmetric spinnaker?

    • @RodMcLaren
      @RodMcLaren  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, Luciano. I asked SailRite.com to design the asymmetrical for me. They then provided the kit and I sewed it myself. Measurements - luff 24 feet; foot 11 feet; leech.21.5 feet. The kit came with very good directions and sewing it was not difficult even for me with no sewing experience. I am very happy with the results. In fact I ordered another sail from SailRite which I will sew this winter - a mizzen staysail.

      @@RodMcLaren Rod, Thanks, I'll check with them. That sail looks like it really does a nice job. On a side note, do you know why there is a 'cut' through a portion of the stern section just forward of the rudder post?

    • @RodMcLaren
      @RodMcLaren  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@lucianojcovati3266 Yes, the sail performs very well. Launching it with the chute, which also came as a kit from SailRite is very easily done. It has been a great addition to the boat. Regarding the "cut", I am not sure what you are referring to. Can you give me a time in the video where you saw it, please?

    • @lucianojcovati3266
      @lucianojcovati3266 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RodMcLaren It's at 1:54. The 'cut' is just before the rudder post and goes about half way down the hull. My 2012 has it as well. My thinking is it allows the stern to flex, but don't know.
