  • See Prof Samer Ezziddin, Professor of Nuclear Medicine, Saarland University, and two patients talking about PRRT (Peptide Receptor Radionuclide Therapy). PRRT is a treatment option for cancers like neuroendocrine tumors. It uses small amounts of radioactivity which is linked to a targeting molecule and injected into the patient´s body. Once in the bloodstream the radiopharmaceutical finds its way to the tumor and destroys it while the healthy surrounding tissue is minimally affected. PRRT has been used successfully over many years under compassionate use. Now, international multicenter clinical trials like the ITM COMPETE study are being performed to generate great levels of knowledge, which are necessary to create the formalism that everyone gives his clear and unrestricted support of PRRT in the indication of NET.
