    Tony Blair can do one. What about all the service people with PTSD who fought in his pointless war? No compassion anymore

    Honestly mental health isn't just the pressure of everyday life mostly, these people don't know what it's like really. A family member of mine has schizophrenia and has had since I was 16 year she went from a hard worker and you could trust all her words, now years on living in two worlds, seeing thing not there, and it's a life time battle. Highly medicated. We as family look after her as best we can and we have to accept she's got to live like this as their is no cure for it, but there is no way she could manage without her benefits or go back to work now. It makes me mad when people say these thing when they honestly don't know the pain of mental health and having to watch your loved ones struggle day and night, going over the same things to try and sooth their fears and keep them safe.

    It is REALLY hard to get benefits for mental health (the threshold is VERY high) also you have to submit LOADS of medical evidence -you CAN'T self diagnose. It is not unusual for people with CHRONIC mental illness to be denied disability benefits and have to appeal

      It's the truth.. It is IMPOSSIBLE to get PIP without extensive medical evidence.. This really is a pack of lies..PIP is so hard to claim, even with medical evidence.His speech is fueling disability hatred and spreading misinformation about mental health and disability benefits.

    The question should be not "Benifits or no benifits?" BUT "Why is there a serge in claiments?" We should be finding out the reasons and the humanity... two things the tight hate.
    A close friend of mine who was a teacher, had - what use to be called a 'nervous breakdown' ... Just stood in Tesco, in floods of tears saying "I cannot go back to work."
    This was because of Tory disastrous educational policies since 1979.
    Every time she when near a school she would go into shock.
    What was her treatment VcV getting disablement benefit… a year of nothing then assessment by a specialist… in spinal injuries.

    Maybe a large number of people’s mental health would improve if they were able to get a decent paying job and buy their own house with the financial security to start a family instead of living with mum and dad until they are 35+ because life has become wildly unaffordable.

      I so agree Curtis with you. My lovely 34 year old son who will be 35 in March is more than ready to live the independent life he deserves at the age he is, but as a Social Carer living on wages just above the minimum wage, he is forced to live with me: his Sixty one year old mum in a Social housing flat that will never belong financially to us.
      I have a very Chronic Imflamatory Physical condition, so I have never been able to Financially earn enough money, or work enough over the years to afford to buy a property. I have come to terms with this for myself, but feel incredibly sorry for my son's generation : Generation Y.
      It's grim and depressing.

    My PIP was taken away when I was an alcoholic in treatment diagnosed with bpd, depression, anxiety, ocd, chronic bulimia, hoarding disorder, ptsd and autism. with a documented history of domestic abuse and multiple suicide attempts and submitted HEAPS of medical evidence. Loosing the benefits meant I had to use food banks and pawn belongings to survive

      @mariannehavisham8323 9 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      @EloiseB2025 yes, it took a year -then it was backdated. I had an excellent mental health support worker who helped me a lot. If I hadn't had a excellent support worker I would have been totally stuffed. Although it was set right in the end the level of stress it caused in the interim was enormous and the stress caused my health to decline further. Things like that are not uncommon and should never happen -the system is broken. Not every one has the support to be able to appeal. When you have invisible disabilities relating to mental illness and/or neurodivergence and/or trauma etc -if you don't have a strong support network there is a good chance you won't be able to navigate the appeals process on your own -I know I couldn't have done

    Basically taking away money from people who need time to recover or who are too damaged/disabled to work.
    The target should be people who would benefit from help to return to work. Because many people with mild to moderate mental health issues can recover.

    • @mariannehavisham8323
      @mariannehavisham8323 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      People with mild or moderate mental health issues can't claim PIP. They don't meet the criteria. My mum has severe mental illness and she can't claim PIP because she functions very well
      Recovery doesn't have to mean no longer having a illness. People with chronic conditions do recover

    Where are the jobs? In my town with a population of 250,000, about 80,000 are employed, while 10,000 are unemployed. But where are these 10,000 jobs? I conducted a job search and found only 150 available positions in this town. Additionally, some people struggle to find employment due to mental health issues or learning difficulties, often facing challenges that prevent them from securing a job, such as not fitting in with the perceived 'ideal' candidate.

      Probably moving to another town is the solution.

    • @davidantonucci1161
      @davidantonucci1161 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @ The issue isn't about me finding a single job-I'm considering the larger picture. If I move to another town, I might take a job that someone else could have filled. There are only a limited number of jobs available, and relocating doesn't create more opportunities; it merely shifts the competition for the existing ones

      So true David. I'd love to see how Tony Blair would fare in finding employment if he had not had his expensive private education to fall back on, with its : " Old Boy Network" advantages and the family money he had behind him as a Middle class individual with his Oxford University Education, before he even started his working life. The internet and social media has such an impact on younger folk . They have been exposed through no fault of their own it does not shock me that there is a mental health epidemic. Overuse of the term ‘Crisis’ by news and media is enough to give anyone mental health issues
