  • The Great Vine at Hampton Court Palace is the largest in the world and was planted in 1768 by celebrated gardener Lancelot 'Capability' Brown. Grapes from the Great Vine are on sale in the Garden shop and Barrack Block shop at the palace for the next few weeks.

I saw The Great Vine in the 1990's, we had an afternoon ticket for the Hampton Court Flower Show, so with time to kill,we had a walk around Hampton Court, before a nice pub lunch. I'm now retired in Thailand, and my Thai wife has just bought four grapevines (her latest of a long line of plant crazes). I'm thinking they won't do so well, as they won't get that cool dormant period in the winter. During winter here in the North East, the temperature rarely dips below the mid-seventies. Today 28/3/2020 the temperature is 103 degrees Fahrenheit.

We don't have cold winters in most of Brazil, and yet we produce export quality grapes just fine. So, there is still hope for them :)

I came here two years ago and had such a lovely time. Though can anyone help me find out the musician who created the guitar backing that is played on this track. I absolutely love it and would like to hear more of it if I could. Any helpers?
