Another great video Jordan. Speaking of Civil War General, Governor Lew Wallace that wrote Ben Hur. Crawfordsville Indiana is where Wallace lived and built a magnificent little brick study building. It is a very interesting structure. It is filled with MANY mementos from the Middle East and Turkey from when he served as Ambassador there. Manys fez's, paintings, and other artifacts. One of the first buildings with central heating and inside toilet for his writing comfort in winter, although he wrote most of Ben Hur in Sante Fe. It is a cozy spot that feels so homey and inviting, it's the kind of place you want to stay in for a while. Also, Crawfordsville still has a Rotating Jail to see. The cell block was circular and the whole floor ROTATED around an axis and spun the individual cells to the single door. Very weird and I guarantee you have never seen it before. It would be a good side trip on your next visit to Ohio.

Bonnie and Clyde were kids thruout their spree, only 23 and 25 when they died. Sid and Nancy were only 21 and 20 when they died. Im 56 and have made no impression whatsoever on the world. It's like a magical thing with some people and it really cant be predicted wholl be remembered.
The assumption that the Kid died at 21 comes almost exclusively from Pat Garrett's book, much of which was ghost written by Ash Upson, who actually did know a very young Billy and the Kid's mother in Silver City. But conveniently the month and day given in the book is a match for Upson's own, except for the birth year given as 1859. It's likely fabricated. According to those who knew the Kid well, both as a child and during the LC War, he was more likely born between 1860 and 1862, so something under 21 when he died.
I was there back in the 70's I guess it was. Also visited Lincoln for a couple of hours. I always assumed that Billy was buried between Charlie and Tom. I hope to get back there for one last visit.

Many card games, alcohol & it was the wild west. You can see orbs. They have a great restaurant, The St. JAMES Hotel. Happy trails. 🤠🤷♀️From Ocate, NM. PS check it on-line. Lu
General Lew Wallace, who was Governor of the New Mexico Territory during the Lincoln County wars, had quite a history himself; he had a flamboyant, if contentious, career during the civil war and served at the trial of President Lincoln's conspirators, then later at the trial of Henry Wirz , Commander of the infamous Confederate Andersonville Prison. As Governor, Wallace met with and made a deal with Billy the Kid to testify regarding the Lincoln County wars in exchange for a full pardon. Billy complied but a power-hungry District Attorney revoked the deal and slapped the Kid in jail immediately following his courtroom testimony. The Kid escaped and thus began his final crime spree in 1879. But perhaps General Lew Wallace's greatest claim to fame was as an author. In 1880 he wrote/published the novel BEN HUR: A TALE OF THE CHRIST which in 1899 became a smash traveling theatrical extravaganza and then in 1907 was adapted for the silver screen as the first of five movie versions of Wallace's tale. Two of those films became cinema classics: Fred Niblo's 1925 silent version starring Ramon Navarro and Cecil B. DeMille's 1959 blockbuster starring Charlton Heston. Interestingly, even though BEN HUR is hailed as the most influential religious novel of the 20th-century [it was even blessed by Pope Leo XIII], Wallace himself never personally joined a church and the original idea for his novel came to Wallace from an agnostic! BTW: despite the official account of Billy's demise, I believe he wasn't killed in 1881 and instead that Garrett gunned down an innocent man. In the 1940's William Henry "Brushy Bill" Roberts made a pretty strong forensic case for being the real William Bonney; but as late as 2004 DNA testing to prove it one way or another was still being blocked by a court. Roberts is the man from Hico, TX, that Jordan mentions briefly in his narrative... and it's quite a story all by itself!
First time I was ever in Tucumcari I was moving from Louisville to Albuquerque and stopped at McDonalds. After ordering they asked me whether I wanted red chillies or green chillies with that and I said what? I later learned a lot about chillies and came to love them.
HI!!! I saw this and had to say that my father's side of my family has a ( I believe ) 75% chance of being related to him as noone is too sure of who his father really is.
My mom dated billy the kids relative ..david bonney..the last remaining relative .he had his gun framed and some pants of his ..plus the fact david was worth millions ..and davids mom had confederate money of his
@@devilforkedentertainmentro6740 we are not 100% sure if we are related as I said due to the fact noone is 100% sure who his father actually is. If it is Patrick McCarty, then my family is related. If not, then oh well.
Another great vlog Jordan Love watching your channel. I grew up watching John Wayne movies with my grandpa. Most of the books I read are Wild West History related. Currently reading one on Doc Holliday but have 3 about Billy the Kid to read. I hope to visit there someday myself. Safe travels for you and Scott. Have a great day buddy.
Fun fact he never actually went by Billy the kid it was a mistake writing in a newspaper article but it stuck he was known has the kid though. I'm not sure about Pat and the kid back then death photos of outlaws were a big thing so why should William Bonney be any different. So much evidence apart from a body that is the only thing that makes me think Pat let him go if he ever met Bonney on that night at all let's not forget Garret killed 2 other men mistaking them for the kid before declaring he got him the 3rd man had to be the kid or Pat's reputation would have been tarnished. For all we know the kid could have lived on for a few more years going by different names and was killed and buried under a different name altogether.
Was that Scott Michael’s voice on the NPR show this morning that was an interview about a lady that put up a lost cat poster in Hollywood? The cat was actually a possum. It had to have been him.
@@DazewithJordantheLion Not questioning your intent, but Pat Garrett did NOT kill Billy the Kidd. There are living relatives in Hico who I have sat with and they described in great detail how he lived the rest of his life out there. In fact the whole town of Hico has this as history and there is even a very detailed museum there dedicated to this with actual historical documents backing this up. I will grant you this information files in the face of the long held narrative, nevertheless like much of the old west stories, the truth is stranger than the fiction

& it was the wild west. You can see orbs. They have a great restaurant, The St. JAMES Hotel. Happy trails. 🤠🤷♀️From Ocate, NM. PS check it on-line. Lu
Hey Jordan
Billy the kid was born November 23, 1859
William Wyler directed the 1959 version of "Ben-Hur", not DeMille, although it is an epic in the style of Mr. DeMille's.
Love old west history
That was great, thanks man.
I'm related to the McCarty's, his father's ( who we think it is) name is Patrick McCarty.
Enjoying your vids bro. Could you do one one on MLK and JFK please? Thanks. From New Zealand.
When dad visited the grave in the 50's there was almost nothing there
“It winds from Chicago to LA.”🎵”More than 2000 miles all the way.”🎵😏
Notice the knotches in the pistol handle.
Can't believe the current governor of NM wouldn't pardon him.
good job jordan!
What an awesome intro man 🤘🤘
Another great vlog Jordan Love watching your channel.

You need to watch young guns movie's there awesome
Was that Scott Michael’s voice on the NPR show this morning that was an interview about a lady that put up a lost cat poster in Hollywood? The cat was actually a possum. It had to have been him.
No
The grave there has no body. Billy the kid lived out his life as William brushy bill Robert’s in Hilo Texas . Look it up
I vlogged it 3 years ago.. you look it up..
@@frankjackson8838 Billy was killed by Pat. The odds of Brushy being Billy are so astronomically low that it's ridiculous to even entertain it.
