Hi, Nick. I'm a video producer here in Seattle and I was wondering if it would be possible to license this footage for use in a project I'm working on for a local University. We're hoping to take one of the whale carcasses that wash up on our shores, retrieve and prepare the skeleton, and display it in our biology hall. In addition to being a unique educational opportunity for the students who will be involved throughout every step along the way, we're hoping it'll be a tangible connection to the conservation efforts around these creatures. My email address is ritherd [at] spu [dot] edu and I'd love to be able to include this amazing footage in our video. Thanks!
Hi David, I would like to say your organization could have the footage but I've just shelled out a lot of money to move into the professional foray of drone-biased video capture of wildlife (in the UK we need to attain a "permission to fly for Commercial Operations certificate from the Civil Aviation Authority and it's not cheap). I need to cover some of my overheads. Really appreciate you reaching out and asking me if you can use this. Message me if you think you can contribute something towards my overheads and we can take it from there if you think that sounds reasonable. I stress I'm not looking to break anyone's bank and I genuinely want to support any cause that sees Cetaceans of all species held in a positive/promotional light. I have a fair amount of footage I will give you access to if we can make a (small) deal.
Hi, Nick. That absolutely sounds fair and actually when I told the professor I'm working with that I was reaching out to you, I made it clear that if he wants whale footage in the video, he should budget for it-and he was more than happy to do so. Would you email me at the address above and we can work out the details? Thank you so much, your work is really quite extraordinary.
Thanks very much for the praise! Check your inbox, hopefully, you've got my email. For the public record I'll take any constructive feedback on the chin too ;)
Excellent video!
