Quick tip for those who don't know. In the console you can use the command "tfh" (toggle full help). Then mousing over an object will display its ownership status. You also get a bit more information, and on some objects can give secrets away, so it is a bit of a cheat. But it's nice to know if you need to know if something is owned or not.
It's pretty easy to know where your going.. the reason this game is so good is because they don't make it easy like so many other games. The realism lets you figure things out on your own.
It seems odd that he thinks as an associate who just joined a few minutes previously, they would be okay with him taking another mages super expensive equipment. Or that they wouldn't task him with more interesting quests. Skyrim would definitely be an LP this guy would enjoy more. Man... and the CoW quest line was actually pretty epic in Skyrim.
Yeah you missed the cheap mortar and pestle in the first town, Seyda Neen. You probably already know this but this might help future viewers of this LP.
Agreed. It's not about forcing the player to feel lost. It's about being realistic and challenging. Helps with immersion, and thus, improves the RP experience. Honestly those who think it doesn't I believe just find it too challenging. Probs the people who play Skyrim on less than Master :D.
True. I mean I loved both Morrowind and Oblivion: Oblivion for it's gameplay, what with the lockpicking, combat and magic, and Morrowind for the general atmosphere, design, freedom, etc. *shrugs* and there's always mods to change that too, so I don't know what I'm complaining about lol.
All of the directions in Morrowind can be challenging, but some are ludicrous. When you have to find a magic dagger in a tomb "near molag mar" or you have to go "south than east at a big rock and then south again". Thankfully, there are a lot of helpful fanmade maps online.
One thing I hated about Morrowind, is that, once you reach a certain level, it's really easy to take down enemies, because they don't seem to level up with you, like in Oblivion. Never the less, still a masterpiece.
@Nephi895 Yeah, I remember a particular quest, in Gnisis I think it was, where the guy gave me instructions to go "West until you find a tree, then go south". Like, no kidding. You remember how many trees there are near Gnisis? I thankfully know a good map, but still, COME ON BETHESDA!
What's so great about what I'm hearing about Skyrim is that Bethesda seems to be trying to utilize what they learned that was best in Oblivion, Morrowind, and Fallout 3 as well. Hopefully they found a happy medium with the compass objective directions
I can't wait to see your face when you eventually find the Grand Soul Gem (Winged Twilight) on the desk in the upper floor of the balmora mage's guild and it's 60,000 gold price tag
actually,it isn't all items that are bad. press that little wave on the left side of your schreen and write tfh (toggles full help wich makes you see the owner of each objects in the game) and look at those boxes in balmora.no owner, and plenty of peoples to see you.you can sometimes get pretty neat stuff in those
The Mage Guild has a little Itemchest with free legal loot and everything you drop is your Belonging (even if you stole it in the first place) and you can pick it up again (which means you could just use you Guildhall as a Storage :3)
yeah iam starting to notice that now. ive just began playing morrowind you see. its really illogical but the environment and ambience is breathtaking in morrowind.
Yeah I was pretty angry about that. People say that it aided in the role-playing process, but I think it's actually quite the opposite...still an awesome game, though :P
you know when I first got this game, I forgot about the main quest completely. SO here I am at lvl 14 and remember theres a main quest...problem tho. The package I was supposed to give that dude, its gone. I sold it but I got it back xD
To help you out more. If you make your way to the mages guild. Theres a full master alchemy set you can steal. You want get banned from the mages guild as long as they dont see you. And its far away form npcs.
Plus its not like im telling him were to go and what to do next. So im not ruining the game for him. Im just simply showing him some things he's most likely not going to find.
i really liked having to explore around in morrowind.. oblivion makes it too easy.. most of the directions are marked on your journal in morrowind, by the way.. and you do have a compass, sort of.. the marker at the bottom right of the screen, up is north..
@MikailCaboose Yeah, well... every game has its flaws, right? Not levelling up in Oblivion I wouldn't call beating the game properly anyway. I still prefer Oblivion's level up system, but preferred Morrowind as a whole. I just felt more, independent in Morrowind. Having to find places without a compass and stuff like that.
Too bad in this one NPCs can't exactly go through loading doors unless it's a certain quest... so a guard would catch you once you left, so you didn't have a chance...
Because it could've belonged to the Mage's guild... which I am a member of. Then there's the issue of not associating an item listed in one's inventory with a physical object in the world. There was no signs that it would've been a criminal act.
I agree it makes the exploration of the game much better w/o the compass to guide you. In Oblivion there are ways around this. If they keep the fucking compass for TES V the first thing i will do is find a way to turn it off and send an email why they kept it.
Its funny the compass is both good and bad: good is that you're almost guaranteed to not get lost and always know exactly where you're going. Bad: it almost completely ruins any sense of exploration that the game has.
Hey, its funny how every next video you make in the series has less views, the 50 people that watched the last episode you know are pretty loyal. Love your vids though, man.
Or they could have an option where you could choose between a compass or a map. *shrugs* I just never really paid attention to it anyways, since you didn't have to deal with so many freaking mountains as in Morrowind. A compass would have been useless in Morrowind because of them.
What laptop do you own? Im looking to buy a new mac laptop and would like one that is capable of running Morrowind on a virtual console. I'm assuming this is what you did...
I found out the hard way too about stealing. My character is all about theivery and stealth. I joined the thieves guild and did a quest...I ended up loading before I took the quest because after you steal and get away with it EVERYONES opinion of you is horrible. And as a new character in town Im all about getting a good rep. Makes buying/selling and getting info much easier. Now I am focusing on the fighters guild only..although I am still part of the thieves guild.
@sonnetxi well it would make since for a bandit to have armor since hes...ya know, a banditand ll, and beggars would def have rags, cus there beggars...
@gixG17 Well, you always have a handful of experts, a load of noobs and valuable items are much rarer than cheap. Death, retirement and lack of ambition ensures that very few noobs become experts, while constant inflow of rookies ensures that everything stays pretty much the same. Morrowind maintains the ratio, even though not the dynamics, Oblivion does neither. Plus, you will be happier, when you get some high end gear in MW, where it is rare, than having it drop all around you at lvl20.
Agreed, but yet again the same goes with Oblivion. Wait a second, you're telling me... you just started playing Morrowind but yet you're judging them both? Lol, you shouldn't do that.
oblivion's too generic. what are the chances of bandits having in their possessions glass armour and you still see beggars in rags? and that the same creatures geting harder the better you get? i just cant buy into that kinda system. big flaw of oblivion
I like the fact he's a first timer but sometimes annoying for the more experienced player because there are so many obvious mistakes you've made. This is good but Necroscope86 videos are better.
@sonnetxi Morrowind is the same. You see bandits in Orcish Armour and many other armours while the beggars stay in their "common robes". Also, you're putting Morrowind in comparison against Oblivion over realism? Lol, c'mon... that's stupid.
@Rixev Also, I think you're comparing Morrowind and Oblivion way too often and that's why you not enjoying the game very much. They're different games mate.. you've got to get used to it.
I love the "Ok, shields up!... oh crap how do you cast a spell?!" part haha cracked me up
Quick tip for those who don't know. In the console you can use the command "tfh" (toggle full help). Then mousing over an object will display its ownership status. You also get a bit more information, and on some objects can give secrets away, so it is a bit of a cheat. But it's nice to know if you need to know if something is owned or not.
Just wanted to say, for people watching now (3 years later) part of the magic of Morrowind is getting completely lost and just going with it.
gix i love ur style and swag here, bring it back !!
I agree. I really enjoy his commentary and the way he plays.
It's pretty easy to know where your going.. the reason this game is so good is because they don't make it easy like so many other games. The realism lets you figure things out on your own.

Man... and the CoW quest line was actually pretty epic in Skyrim.
i remember the first time that i pissed off a whole mages guild...
"oh crap how do you cast a spell" XD
pestle has a silent t, you read it pessle.
The awesome part of that is you can be a sneaky battle mage warrior... thingy. :D
PART 12 AND STILL AS OF THE START OF THE VIDEO NO COMBAT.... THIS GUY IS A PRO AT BUILDING SUSPENSE!
All of the directions in Morrowind can be challenging, but some are ludicrous. When you have to find a magic dagger in a tomb "near molag mar" or you have to go "south than east at a big rock and then south again". Thankfully, there are a lot of helpful fanmade maps online.
Gix the mage: "Oh crap, how do you cast a spell?" I laughed so freaking hard…..
I was loling so hard when you pulled out your lock pick!
Great video!
One thing I hated about Morrowind, is that, once you reach a certain level, it's really easy to take down enemies, because they don't seem to level up with you, like in Oblivion. Never the less, still a masterpiece.
try looking in the chest in the mages gild you can open it and take anything inside

This comment didn't age well
They didn't, the game holds your hand the entire time.
I can't wait to see your face when you eventually find the Grand Soul Gem (Winged Twilight) on the desk in the upper floor of the balmora mage's guild and it's 60,000 gold price tag
@ferrousscale Which made Oblivion a bit of a pain actually, because you COULDN'T get high-end equipment earlier, whereas in Morrowind you could.
actually,it isn't all items that are bad. press that little wave on the left side of your schreen and write tfh (toggles full help wich makes you see the owner of each objects in the game) and look at those boxes in balmora.no owner, and plenty of peoples to see you.you can sometimes get pretty neat stuff in those
u can get all the mushrooms in the first city seyda neen and there is a chest in the mages guild for supplies and stuff for u
The Mage Guild has a little Itemchest with free legal loot and everything you drop is your Belonging (even if you stole it in the first place) and you can pick it up again (which means you could just use you Guildhall as a Storage :3)
I just gave up on directions and travel around the island. It makes the game a bit more fun for me because i am always findng stuff.
I sure hope you get morrowind working again soon.
how much u rate this game from 1-100 in the style of rpg
@edt5481 You nailed what I was thinking dude. :)
@Hemmingfish that was shocking finding to me too xD
yeah iam starting to notice that now. ive just began playing morrowind you see.
its really illogical but the environment and ambience is breathtaking in morrowind.
I've watched these videos for awhile now, and have played oblivion and skyrim, and am going to get Morrowind in like a week. any advice for me??
Yeah I was pretty angry about that. People say that it aided in the role-playing process, but I think it's actually quite the opposite...still an awesome game, though :P
Obleee-veee-onn
you know when I first got this game, I forgot about the main quest completely. SO here I am at lvl 14 and remember theres a main quest...problem tho. The package I was supposed to give that dude, its gone. I sold it but I got it back xD

Like pointing to "Balmora", but not "So-and-so's house", right?
Plus its not like im telling him were to go and what to do next. So im not ruining the game for him. Im just simply showing him some things he's most likely not going to find.
I wonder how long it took him to find the puzzle cube
i really liked having to explore around in morrowind.. oblivion makes it too easy..
most of the directions are marked on your journal in morrowind, by the way..
and you do have a compass, sort of.. the marker at the bottom right of the screen, up is north..
good vid
@Tyler V. What's your opinion on that now?
oh lawd this is hilarious haha
You really need to find your sense of direction. Anyway I really enjoy your LP even though you are not too good at the game, love your commentary.
the directions are in your journal (3 years later sorry)
No, but at least the game forces you to level up (being able to finish Oblivion at Lvl. 1 just didn't sit well with me for some reason)
THE MAGE QUESTS GET A HELL OF ALOT BETTER
you should do the telvanni quests theyare ahell of fun and you get your own castle
Too bad in this one NPCs can't exactly go through loading doors unless it's a certain quest... so a guard would catch you once you left, so you didn't have a chance...
Why would Ajira NOT own the item sitting on the table in front of her that you saw listed as part of her inventory?
Because it could've belonged to the Mage's guild... which I am a member of. Then there's the issue of not associating an item listed in one's inventory with a physical object in the world.
There was no signs that it would've been a criminal act.

@CssHDmonster I would say about a 90.
Tbh, it is a little bit complicated for a first playthrough. Or after a few years.
Or they could have an option where you could choose between a compass or a map. *shrugs* I just never really paid attention to it anyways, since you didn't have to deal with so many freaking mountains as in Morrowind. A compass would have been useless in Morrowind because of them.

@gixG17 that's how my friend got morrowind. lol
They removed stats and class choosing... traitors.
@sonnetxi well it would make since for a bandit to have armor since hes...ya know, a banditand ll, and beggars would def have rags, cus there beggars...
Well, it does get annoying when "west" is really more northwest or southwest, but oh well.
@Stevenhiggles lol thats how i played gothic 3
@MikailCaboose Lol, meh... everybody makes mistakes. xD No harm done.
@gixG17
Well, you always have a handful of experts, a load of noobs and valuable items are much rarer than cheap. Death, retirement and lack of ambition ensures that very few noobs become experts, while constant inflow of rookies ensures that everything stays pretty much the same.

Well if you find journymands stuff its cheaper then the masters stuff ;)
@gixG17 you find morrowund better then oblivion?
Agreed, but yet again the same goes with Oblivion. Wait a second, you're telling me... you just started playing Morrowind but yet you're judging them both? Lol, you shouldn't do that.
well u could just print one u like from google pictures i guess^^
oblivion's too generic. what are the chances of bandits having in their possessions glass armour and you still see beggars in rags?
and that the same creatures geting harder the better you get?
i just cant buy into that kinda system. big flaw of oblivion
Lol....3:00. :)
@dhahranksa role playing game.
really enjoying the lp but it maddens me that you don't ask all the relevant topics. still that is only minor, great lp
Lol, c'mon... that's stupid.
such a casual gamer you are....
hey this shouldn't ruin the game lol. Its just a good item its not even for mages.
Get yourself a piece of paper and write down the directions:)
@Rixev
Also, I think you're comparing Morrowind and Oblivion way too often and that's why you not enjoying the game very much. They're different games mate.. you've got to get used to it.
ive been lost so many times in this game it gets boring
