  • My first attempt to cut the concrete with Ed's ancient type equipment. The 1890's Scott Russel mechanism. Yes exact same name. Only I have two "L"s.

I found a machine that was made to quarry stone in a square quarry about 5 miles of so from Coral Castle. I'm pretty sure it was to cut stone for the Deering estate but I could be wrong knowing where the trucks were parked when the rock for the castle were gathered.

I love the smell of rock cutting in the morning ;) lol.
There's a picture you took of Ed's "Russell "mech on one of your vids isn't there mate? Such a simple conversion for horizontal work, clever little mechanism aye.
Keep on building Mr Russell it's all developing well. Loving the Upgrades!! Slightly off topic but I really liked that water wheel with the gears you know. :D Take care mate ;) I want a baby sweet 16 :(... Can you rent me yours for a few weeks :D, I'll save up the 1.5 million to ship her over :P

ME too. the problem is that the damned selector switch on mine is stuck on the "100 years ago" setting. So I am destined to a world of solenoids and big rocks. I will have to order a new selector switch from timecutter 2000 inc. and hope I get it in at least a decade or so in time. whew my head hurts now.

Thanks. Yup its barbarian for sure. PLUS the coils are getting too hot after 5 minutes so I have quite a ways to go. It needs a bit more wire to keep the current down. mebe more turns helps magnetism, and slows current due to resistance at the same time. You've been thru it you know from the ol wheel. lots o work a windin' coils till you get the sweet spot.

For the shipping I meant mate, not to hire it lol. I was banking on rental being reasonable :D
So bloomin expensive to ship heavy shit over here. ;) ..try and say that after three bottles of vodka.
