Yeah what’s really funny is that they taught for the longest time, saying that Jesus Christ himself was mighty while Jehovah God was called Almighty, and if Jehovah God was called mighty then that would make him less powerful. but as a Christian apologist I can use their own New World translation against them. Couple months ago I talked to some Jehovah’s Witness ladies who were at my local library standing outside of course, and I ask them is Jehovah God ever called mighty or Almighty? They said obviously he is called Almighty, I said is he ever called mighty at any time they said no. And then I asked them to please read Jeremiah chapter 32 verse 18 of the New World translation and Deuteronomy chapter 10 verse 17, I said you just told me that Jehovah God is called Almighty but these two passages here verify that Jehovah God by name is called mighty according to your NWT. And I said also in your New World translation, I said before we go to the passage, you said that the Holy Spirit is not Jehovah God is that correct? They said that is correct I said well if you go over to 2nd Corinthians chapter 3 verse 12 and 18 in the New World translation you see that Jehovah God is called the Holy Spirit. They said you must have been studying a lot in our Scriptures, they said are you sure you’re not a Jehovah’s Witness? I said no and they kept asking me that ita. So then Of course they asked me about John chapter 14 verse 28, and I told them well Jesus was talking about his position and roll not his nature, they’re like are you sure about that I said absolutely. I didn’t give a definite or indefinite article of John chapter 1 verse one from the Greek but in the Greek I told them there is no definite article there but it is in the second line of John chapter 1 verse one in the Greek. I said so the letter A doesn’t fit and I told them you can’t just put it either when there is no definite article there you can’t do that if there is no definite article there. So in Greek this is This is a question I quite often get asked in relation to conversations with Jehovah’s Witnesses and the New World Translation (NWT). The NWT translates the end of John 1.1 as ‘the Word as a god’ in order to avoid the identification of Jesus with the God of the Old Testament, and avoid seeing Jesus as God incarnate, part of the Trinity, as does orthodox Christian belief.
As we will see, this is an incorrect translation of the Greek text. It is quite straightforward, though sounds a little technical to explain. Here goes.
The Greek of John 1.1 is as follows, transliterated into English letters:
En arche en ho logos, kai ho logos pros ton theon, kai theos en ho logos.
If you don’t read Greek, you need to know a couple of things. The first is that the word ho is called the ‘definite article’ which in English would be translated ‘the.’ The second is that Greek does not have an ‘indefinite article’ (English ‘a’), but instead simply omits the article. The term for this is ‘anarthrous’. The third is that, whereas in English we show what words are doing in a sentence by word order, in Greek this is shown by what case a word is in. Each word can be in one of four (or five) cases-the subject of a verb (often the thing doing an action) is always in the nominative case.
You can see near the end of John 1.1 that we have theos without an article, and logos throughout with the article. The reason is that, in any phrase where the main verb is ‘to be’, there will not be a subject and an object (as in ‘I pat my dog’ where ‘I’ am the subject and ‘my dog’ is the object of the action), but only subjects in ‘apposition’, that is, agreeing with one another. So when I say ‘My pet is a dog’ both ‘pet’ and ‘dog’ are subjects, and in Greek would be in the nominative case.
The question is: how can I tell the difference in Greek between the sentences ‘My pet is a dog’ and ‘My dog is a pet’ which have quite different senses. (The first is telling you which animal I have as a pet, the second is telling what kind of relationship my dog has to me.) In English, we do it by word order, but you cannot do this in Greek since, as an inflected language (ie one with different cases), it is flexible in word order. And you cannot do it by the usual trick of different cases, since both are in the nominative as subjects of the verb ‘to be’.
So Greek does it by making the word in apposition (the ‘dog’ in the first example) anarthrous, that is, without the definite article. In other words, theos en ho logos means ‘the word was God’, which tells us something about the nature of the word, whereas ho theos en logos would mean ‘God was the word’ which is telling us something about the nature of God.
In neither case does being anarthrous correspond to the English sense ‘a’, the indefinite article. So to translate this as ‘The Word was a god’ misunderstands the significance of omitting the article.
So by using the New World translation I used it by saying that Jesus Christ claimed to Beechova God, and I said he said it multiple times. I said he never said I am Jehovah God please worship me he didn’t have to say that he made it clear to his foes to his oppressors that were oppressing him, they knew that he was claiming to be God. Look at the trial for example, he said you will see the Son of Man quoting Daniel‘s prophecy in Daniel chapter 7 verse 13 and 14 Jesus is the one to judge all nations, he’s the sovereign judge of all the universe.

@The Truth! sad sad about what? That your lying to 8.6 million people yeah that is very sad. And you even said that Jehovah got himself is called Almighty and Jesus is called mighty. And you have also said that is never called mighty at anytime well according to your new world translation Jehovah God is called mighty by name. I find that to be funny, then you try to use John chapter 1 verse one saying oh well we can put the eight for the definite article there to say that Jesus is a God when actually you can’t because the definite articles not there
This is a question I quite often get asked in relation to conversations with Jehovah’s Witnesses and the New World Translation (NWT). So to translate this as ‘The Word was a god’ misunderstands the significance of omitting the article. As this sounds rather technical, I always find it more fruitful to read with Jehovah’s Witness Romans 10.13, ‘Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’ The Greek here uses the word kurios; in the Greek Old Testament that Paul is citing here, this refers to Yahweh, the god of Israel. But Paul here clearly means ‘The Lord Jesus.’ The NWT appears to be embarrassed by this, and substitutes the word ‘Jehovah’. But it is very clear that in doing so the NWT is changing the text of Scripture.

...in Bible it says... I am no part of this world therefore my sheep won't be either. The world is wrapped up in birthday parties and holidays. Temporary celebrations that never lead to true happiness. If you love the world the world is fond over what belongs to it. Yet how can anyone be so in love with the ways of this world when the world opposes God. Study the Bible and stay close to Jehovah God and Jesus Christ.

The mission entrusted by Yeshua (Jesus) to the apostles concerned the 1st century and only the 1st century. Everything that came after the 1st century, and until today, comes from men and from Satan. Your dad's situation hit home. When I was growing up I knew I wanted to go to college despite the religion. When I started going to college I had to work and go to school, I had enough money to pay my bills. During the time I just had enough to pay my bills, my oldest sister told me I wasn't allowed to eat their food because I didn't have money. When jehovas witness would come over they would offer them everything and anything to eat, meanwhile I was starving. I sadly can't leave even though I'm eighteen. I can't move out since expenses and I have a phobia of living alone, especially because I just moved to a new state so I really don't have friends. I really wish I could leave but my parents said "until I move out you'll remain a witness" and it's terrible knowing how I'm basically stuck here. I was forced to go in person to kingdom halls now and I'm scared to get sick, but I have no choice but to hope I don't get COVID again.
I have no friends to talk to about this, because they're also witnesses and when I bring it up, they always give me a Bible verse or say "give it time" but I've been giving it time. I don't talk to those friends anymore. So I feel alone in this, everytime I bring it up to my parents they get mad with me and say it's my fault for not trying hard enough in the meetings.
Every time I have to go to a meeting I have to sit at the bathroom and cry because it's too much for me. I just wish I could escape and just do things I've always wanted to do.

Idk who you are or what you are going through, but seek Jesus. He is the WAY, the TRUTH and the LIFE (John 14:6). He is the only one and true friend that will never leave you and the only one that gave his life for you, me and the world on the cross (John 15:15, John 15:13, 1 Timothy 2:6).
When you are alone or don’t know who to turn, go in your bedroom and kneel down and pray to the Father in Jesus as Jesus instructed that our prayers should be to the Father (Matthew 6:9) and anything we ask in Jesus name will be done (John 14:13). Do it with faith and seek him with your heart.
Once you start seeking the true and one God, you will feel his presence and the Holy Spirit will guide you in understanding the Holy Scriptures.
I can say this 100% with my soul because I used to study with them and started believing their dogma and demonic doctrinarios (1 Timothy 4:1), but glory be to Christ that he came on time and the veil was taken off my eyes because once I started ACTUALLY searching and READING the Bible I found things I never saw while following their awake and teachings. Mind you I was an unbaptized publisher and I had a lot of trouble with depression and suicidal attempts but they never actually helped.
My dear friend I can’t emphasize enough that when I started praying the correct way and having a relationship with Father, Son and Holy Spirit my life changed. I felt internal peace which I never felt which is the peace that Jesus gives (John 14:27) and living waters flowing through my souls (John 7:38). Not only that, but I also started experiencing amazing experiences in my dreams, because I was nurturing my spirit and my faith was getting stronger I was seeing things I never believed I could see, but He says that he will show us great and mighty things (Jeremiah 33:3). Don’t believe that God doesn’t speak, he speaks through dreams, vision and his audible voice (Job 33:14-15) - God is not mute. But please keep in mind JWs have made many versions of the Bible where they have taken out parts of the scripture and they have also added, which is a huge sin and they will be condemn. Although God is almighty and even with their version the truth comes out.
If you ever need to speak to someone or would like to chat, reach out to me. I am I no way trying to manipulate you or anything, but just trying to help you find the peace that you are looking for, not through me or words, but through Christ Jesus, our one and only savior!
May God bless you, the blood of the lamb cover you and the Holy Spirit guide you the fountain of living waters! I will keep you in my prayers ❤️

O Jesus, I will take you and raise you up to me, and had purified you from those who disbelieve, and He will place those who follow you above those who disbelieve until the Day of Resurrection, then to Me is your return, so I will judge between you regarding that in which you differed, the authentic god rose jesus to the sky before they kill him in addition he had purified him from a false accusation that he is impure the quran verse is comply with the bible itself :So they lifted up stones to stone him. But Jesus did and went out of the temple, passing through them." ( John 8:59 ),let alone of many verses in the bible incites to violence thus u found the largest massacres had happened in history the ww1&2 christian countries against christian countries 100 millions had been killed not to mention the sex stories in the bible nay u never found a single sex word in quran, don`t take it in personal just i clarify u the plain truth, bible said woman when she during the menstruation she gets impure &any thing she would touched it will be impure &should stay at her room till had done of it don`t see that an insulting to woman &how does the claimed god in bible said so he demeans& underrates his own creatures, yet islam honored the woman &she has a complete chapter its name women show us her rights, let us look at modern medicine which refutes the bible, ovulalation happens every 28 days from overy next month from other ovary when fertilization fails to happen mestrual bleading happens it always stops when a female gets pregnant ,menstrual cycle ovulation the female genital system consists of one uterus to overuse vagine& externat genital organs ,,the blood during menstruation could cause diseases to spread and that’s why a woman during her menstruation needed to isolate so the blood would not be passed around to other people And diseases not be spread that`s what god said in quran and they ask you about menstruation say, isolate women don't come near them untill they get purified verse 222 chapter 2,why there are priests, pastors&nuns reverted daily to islam, yet u never a muslim clergy left islam as per western media said that islam is the fastest growing religion in the world,i didn`t like to push islam onto u god said no compulsion in religion verse 256 chapter 2,figure it out then make up your mind

I don’t recall my mom being treated bad as a single mom but I definitely felt like I was even shunned as a kid when my mom was briefly disfellowshipped. It was a tough year! We were greatly indoctrinated but everything changed for me when I read Crisis of Conscience around the age of 24. Like you, I never got baptized so it’s been easier for me to navigate relationships with my majority JW family versus what some of my other DF or faded friends and family deal with. The best thing my mom ever did was not allow me to get baptized…she’d say “I’d love for you to but not until you’re out of my house and doing it on your own”. She spared my sister and I from a lot of trauma!!! If other parents were like mine in that regard, so much pain could have been spared! I still thank mom often for that!! She’s still in and will likely always be and that’s ok I guess because she respects our choices. I’ve stopped having JW conversations with my JW because it’s pointless so again, I’ve mastered the art of navigating that culture. It’s not easy!!! Stay strong everyone!

I totally understand feeling like I missed childhood. I couldn't have any "worldly" friends, yet the JW girls were all older than me and didn't really include me. Even if their parents forced them, I was kind of just there and still excluded from certain things. I couldn't be in any teams at school or do any school activity after school bc they were "worldly" and there was no time to keep up with all the studying for meetings (4meetings over 3 days at the time plus a 4th day bc of field service) plus studying to do well in school. I was stressed and never really had structured fun downtime.

Sometimes I stand with myself to them that I want to live my life on myself they started to threaten me and bring me on mental hospital and if I go to police no one understand me and they said? Police laugh at me only and gonna be told me that I was wrong than my parents.
Today I still pretend to be active on JW even I hate it... but this is the only way to finish my college because if I am not my parents will be mad again and don't let me escape again.

With being rased in the "truth" and leaving by the age of 18, I found it so difficult to live out in the real world. I didn't have the social and work skills needed to make a living. Knowing that you had a similar up bringing and faced challenges as an adult brings so much comfort I was not the only feeling like this. I was also raised by a single mom in poverty and felt the judgment from people within the congregation. Thank for sharing your experiences, more people that have live through this need to know they are not alone.

The Lord I agree with you so much with everything I have suffered so much trauma from my family and for my brother and from a family friend that was well in the 60s attempting to groom me when I was 15 years old... And the sad thing is like when you come out with this stuff they kind of treat you like a black sheep/apostate whether you're baptized or not baptized and you'll be treated like an instant outsider because you're talking against the organization.
It's like if no one doesn't speak up for you like an elder doesn't agree with you you're really just on your own.
And you're really just left as naive pray for anybody whether you're staying in the Kingdom Hall or going out in the world because you have no footing in life and you are stuck in this super super close minded "world"
Not having no friends really did damage me but also my mother was married to a "worldly man" but it's not like I can stay with my dad because he molested me and I blank that when I was young so it's just been like a life full of trauma with no boundaries....

You had an interesting experience with the JW's. Mine was a little bit different. We weren't told that we weren't allowed to socialize with unbelievers; we were told that it's best not to socialize with them, so my friends were mainly other JW's & a few unbelieving schoolmates. I was never told to not play with unbelievers. I walked away in the late 80's & have never been more happier in all of my life! What blew me away was when I recently learned about the change in teaching towards "the overlapping generations." Talk about the Organization denying that they were wrong! They call it "the light keeps getting brighter & brighter." If the "light" keeps getting brighter, why then would God allow a misinterpretation of His word allowed to be taught for 30+ years? The GB has painted themselves into another corner & they don't even realize it! May you keep finding happiness!

We'll just curious, if it wasn't God's spirit that led them to teach the accurate information why even reveal there was a mistake. Who would know or challenge? Like the governing body could have just kept the truth to themselves and kept teaching what we all knew to be true just to say face and no one would say they were incorrect. I just don't see the point of admitting misinterpreting the word if all they cared about was being perfect. It doesn't make sense. God's spirit (Jehovah) makes the light brighter. Not the men he put in charge. Do t you think they know that it would be lots of people like you who would ridicule this action to teach new findings??? But the truth has to be taught embarrassed about it or not. It's not our word to feel embarrassed about, it's Jehovah's word it's his Bible and his teachings. Jehovah doesn't care about things needing correction because he can fix anything we as imperfect humans get WRONG, but what He won't tolerate is us learning the truth and keeping it a secret to save face while loyal ones are not getting the spiritual food we need to make it through these last days! Agape

      @davidreda1211 ปีที่แล้ว

@@shavonejahisgraciousallen4245, It is called "being dismissive," "downplay it." The GB & 99.999% of JW's will gloss over any past teachings that go contrary to current beliefs(JW's briefly believed creative days were 7,000 years each). A simple search of their online library will show that you cannot access issues of the Awake! magazine prior to 1970; Watchtower prior to 1950. Why is that?
God's spirit makes the light brighter? That is suggesting that God's spirit is withholding truth/information. Why would God allow his servants to preach a false teaching such as "this generation(generation of 1914) will not pass away until all of these things have occurred?" The Great Tribulation doesn't look like it's going to happen anytime soon, as well as when they say "peace & security." Tensions between China & Russia are at an all time high & it doesn't look like it will ease any time soon as well.
Another teaching that has gone through some flip-flopping is whether children/babies will be destroyed at Armageddon. Ask any JW & you will either get a "yes", "no", or "we don't know." That doesn't sound like they are all of one mind. The thing is that JW's will say that it is "the Truth." How can it be "the Truth" if it changes? If it changes, that means that the past teaching was not true. It's very possible that "the light gets brighter" is a misinterpretation of that scripture. Have you ever thought about that? A side question; if God wants everyone to understand Him/love Him/live forever, why then would He make the Bible so hard to understand?
      Wishing you the best😊

Your story about losing your father (I’m so sorry for your loss) and the sister’s attempt to “comfort” you made me realize grief has no place in the JW organization. You’re only allowed to be sad for a short time, and if you continue to grieve you “don’t have faith in the resurrection”.

In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. - Genesis 1:1
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
      John 1:1‭-‬4 KJV
And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. John bare witness of him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spake, He that cometh after me is preferred before me: for he was before me. And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace. For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ. No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.
      John 1:14‭-‬18 KJV
without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels preached unto the Gentile believed on in the world received up into glory. 1 Timothy 3:16 KJV
I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.
      Revelation 1:8 KJV
And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last: I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.
      Revelation 1:17‭-‬18 KJV
Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way? Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him. Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us. Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father? Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works. Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake.
      John 14:5‭-‬11 KJV
For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:
      Colossians 2:9‭-‬10 KJV
Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me? The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.
      John 10:32‭-‬33 KJV
Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God.
      John 5:18 KJV
And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.
      1 John 5:20 KJV
Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham? Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.
      John 8:57‭-‬58 KJV
Thus saith the Lord the King of Israel, and his redeemer the Lord of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God.
      Isaiah 44:6 KJV
But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.
      1 Corinthians 8:6 KJV
      And unto the angel of the church in Smyrna write; These things saith the first and the last, which was dead, and is alive;
      Revelation 2:8 KJV
Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

She was baptized and remained faithful to the end. I discontinued going though I do get occasional invitations to restart studying again. Felt the same about my childhood as well with the holidays, though I did have one last birthday when I turned seven.

Thank you for sharing. I can totally relate to your story on how the organization tells you that going to college and having a job to make money is not important. That messed me up as a child/teenager big time, especially when I was in Catholic school and studying the Bible at the same time. I’m in my 20s and have big regrets for not working during high school, not taking college seriously as I should’ve been, and not taking the many opportunities college has to offer all because the JW org has painted higher education as satanic and that all the people are bad association. They really brainwashed me so bad that I now have major anxiety to find a job, learn how to function in the real world, and thought that money isn’t important when it is if you wanna survive.
My advice: don’t study the Bible while attending a Catholic school or going to college at the same time like I did just to please everyone. It can really mess your mind up mentally, emotionally, and socially!
I’m so glad I disassociated myself last September for the same reasons after being apart of this org on and off for the past 18 years. Plus, I was never baptized so I didn’t have to go through the DF process, but they keep wondering where I am. Can’t believe I’ve listened to these dumb JWs for too long.

    • @karinarnaud4093
      @karinarnaud4093 ปีที่แล้ว +3

I'm just curious, if you don't mind sharing. How did you end up going to a Catholic school as a JW when JW's see Catholics as the devil itself?

    • @tin8060
      @tin8060 ปีที่แล้ว +7

@@karinarnaud4093 I can answer that, same user here. My mom and I were never baptized in the org but have studied with JWs for a while. We were baptized as Catholics before they came into our lives. She wanted me to go to a private school so I can get a good education (she had best intentions for me). However, she wanted me to become a JW when I got older (confusing, right?) So as the people pleaser I am, I started to take my Bible studies a bit more seriously while starting my private school journey, hence living a double life with double religious beliefs in my head. This led me to develop an inferior complex between me and my classmates bc I really thought JW is the true religion and that I would go to paradise one day. I even thought holidays were sinful so I tried my best to stay away from it when they had events in school, only listen to it/zone out. I did make friends at school but it didn’t quite last long. My point is the JWs are so controlling. My Bible teachers shamed me for going to a private school and told me how I should drop out. People at the KH would talk to me for short periods of time, only to feel like an outcast after. I really thought this JW org would bring me joy later on in life, which is why I stayed with them for so long but I was wrong.

Very Interesting. I had a Sister in Law that was one and her Husband and children were very strange in that the children Did Not speak with us as we were relatives, and she was in her Teens and married a man who could have been her Grandfather. I thought it was so sad because they did Not communicate on a Normal basis, and seemed to be an Outcast and steered Away from what would be called a Normal family conversation. All of them were so strange and suddenly went Away. I remember seeing her again years later and she was even more strange. The older husband had died and her Younger son and she were living together, and Noone was Allowed in their house. Very different and kind of Creepy. None of them associated with us, and vice versa. When you mentioned how they treated your mom that’s exactly my experience... she was a poor single mother of two. My mom bless her heart lacks self awareness and will talk to anyone. I just remember them especially some of the women looking down on her/ us. Other children “in the truth” 😂😉 not really talking us either. She acknowledges it now.. she’s still a JW. Unless you are a child-less freshly 18 year old woman none of the men were interested in you. Therefore my mom is still single to this very day because she can only date (they don’t use that word.. they call it something else I don’t remember) in the “truth”. They aren’t charitable to their own people but sure will make sure they have donations.. literally millions of dollars especially allotted to shutting up bad publicity. There were times when we needed help with bills were directed to local charities… even if it was another Church. So glad I can think for myself.
