your attention to detail and explaining things just for the sake of explaining is admirable. I appreciate the effort you put into this. #respect
This is my second full watch of yours and holy crap Jon, your explanations are fantastic.
This is high quality work thank you!
Thanks!
You are decisively in my top 3 board game you tuber! Every single time I enjoy your video. Your detailed explanation and easy to understand rules explanation.
I really appreciate that, thanks! :D
Excellent video and commentary. It has helped me immeasurably in understanding every card and action. Thanks for taking the time and effort to produce such professional videos.
Always love your playthroughs :)
Great play-through, thanks, Jon!
Thanks for this playthrough. Your style is fantastic. This really gave me a good idea of how the game plays. Really excited to get my copy next week now.
Great playthrough. Well filmed and explained.
At 1:01:36, if I remember correctly, Jamey said on BGG that you get both dice if anyone gets toppled by your conquering action. So a trap does not prevent you to take both dice.
At 1:24:25, placing the brown building on the top-left space would complete one row and one column instead of only one column.
Huh, that is good to know. Thanks.
thanks for the paly, I am getting the game this weekend after seeing it play through.
Anyone else hear a kind of metal echo at the end of the video with the wrap-up? Not sure if you're experimenting with different audio/microphones. I thought I would mention it. Great playthrough, once again. Thank you, Jon.
No experimentation on this one, that's a setup I've used for years. I do hear a slight ring but I haven't been able to eliminate it without making my voice sound squashed.
Top as usual. Thank you Jon :-)
23:50 - That is an error. An era lasts until you take another income turn, so the Monarchy effect was not active.
Was about to post about this too.
Ah, looks like I misunderstood that. I'll add a correction to the Klingon subtitles, thanks for pointing it out!.
I believe at 15:27 red player should have scored 4 points for the exploration tile placed; 2 desserts, and two oceans.
You only score each edge of the hex and in this case there were only 4 matching hexes. The edge that faced the middle tile does not match at all which is why it doesn't score and they only get 3 points total.
At 47:50 you cover up the science square of your Leaders card. But the bump on the science track was from your tapestry card, not the Leaders card
Wow, that's unfortunate. The science die roll on our Tapestry card seems to have confused me into losing out on 1/4th of our civilization's benefit! Thanks for pointing that out, I've added a note to the Klingon subtitles.
At 34:03 the red player gets those five points for free because of Trade Economy so he did not need to decide to discard the tapestry cards.
Which is perfect since @55:16 the red player get 5 VP twice for Tyrany. So it evens out.
Good note, thanks. I've added a correction to the subtitles.
@@Wildhorn666 That's a good point!
In your final scoring you forgot to take the 10 extra points on your yellow building row (perhaps too focused on scoring your technology cards), I think perhaps you also made this kind of error in one or two of the other scorings, but I cannot remember for sure.
Good catch, I've added a note to the Klingon subtitles.
@1:36:05 Once you are done with your 5th income, you can't play a Trap card, so you were safe to conquer the middle island.
Huh, that's good to know. The rules mentioned you are done with the game after the 5th income but seemed to imply reactive things can still be done so I assumed that would be trap cards. I'll add a correction.
Jamey officialy ruled it that way on BGG forums.
I was watching your playthrough and i did notice you didn't gain your extra resource from a completed district, was that an error? I thought that you will have to take an extra resource of your choice once a district is completed.
Overall good playthrough. Been playing a few times and want to make sure I'm playing it correctly. Noticed a few mistakes here and there, but they were already mentioned from the comments.
You are supposed to take extra resources when districts are completed, do you remember when this error happened in the video?
at 7:06 it looks like the yellow player took 3 points for the explore action when in fact they should have had 4.
I looked at this and it seems to me like only 3 of the sides have matching terrains. The other to have desert next to water and desert next to mountain/plains.
JonGetsGames you are correct, my mistake!
41:15 It appears you did not pay the 2 resources to move up the Science track. If this is true, you would not have been able to take your next move which would have significantly changed your game. I would get in the habit of paying resources before taking the benefit.
You are right, red player didn't pay the 2 ressources.
I don't even have this game but I want it! I also hear this game loses its magic after the first couple times you play it though?
I only played it 3 or so times before I got rid of my copy unfortunately.
@@GettingGames I would still like to experience the game! Hopefully I can find a friend with it!
@36:40 Yellow player didn't get their Tapestry card from income.
Dang, thanks for pointing that out. I've added corrections to the Klingon subtitles.
At 58:30 the red player pays 1 too few resources.
Good catch, I've added a correction to the Klingon subtitles. Thanks!
At 1.38.20 you took 1 too many points.
He also completely forgot to take 10 points for having put down his last yellow building, so in fact he took 9 points too little overall
Hmm I didn't see any scoring happen at 1:38:20.
@@GettingGames sorry, 1.38.10, maybe 1.38.08 for the whole thing
@@gamingpond Ah yeah, good catch! I've added a note to the Klingon subtitles.
Game look amazing but it looks so confusing.
Each part is simple, but yes it does turn into quite a lot when put together.
My dude. I love your videos but you play so weirdly sometimes. Sooo many missed points and inefficient actions.
I do my best, filming these can be exhausting and it's not easy trying to play multiple competitive players at once. This extended playthrough alone (not including tutorial) took me 7 hours to film so obviously some strategic blunders and oversights are going to happen.
It is not easy to play multiple players at the same time, even less when you have to stop focusing inbetween your turns to move a camera.
The other thing is that most of the people who are watching this to learn the game (me) are gonna make many miscues and bad strategies on their first play-throughs so it almost makes more sense for him to be all over the place with it. This isn't an advanced tactics video, its a lets just figure this complicated game out video.
