    Rick, Rick...I am 63 and have been wearing hair since 1984. Suggestion? No need for all that glue. Just put super tape 1/4" in from edge around the horseshoe back/side. Use the glue on the front. You are about the only person I've been able to find on you tube that might be able to answer my question. I'm getting a hair replacement system. It's a salt and pepper unit. My own hair on the sides and back is pure white. How well do those blend in?

    • @davemattia
      @davemattia ปีที่แล้ว

    • @rickdouglas5830
      @rickdouglas5830 ปีที่แล้ว

      Man, it certainly can blend well. The sides of my hair are darker, except around the very edge is where it is completely gray. It all depends on how the system is cut. I see people on TV all the time and have terrible looking systems and wonder why can it look better than that. But it can look better. It’s all about blending the sides of the unit and with the natural hair. There are times that I go with a very gray unit but the way I cut it and blend into the dark around the sides of my hair is still works great

The problem I brought up to them is you can visibly see the front seam which prevents me from styling bangs up. Is this normal or did they sell me junk. My hair has been slowly thinning since my late 20’s, and it’s always frustrated me and made me a little self-conscious. I’ve looked into hair restoration with several of the biggest companies, but I both can’t afford it and am not sure that I want to risk doing something that radical. I do admit, these here look good in just looking at them on a video, but again, am I that vain to go through all of this on a regular basis. I’m also an athlete and live in Florida, so I sometimes end up taking as many as 3 showers a day. I can’t imagine sweating that much of getting in the shower that much would work with this. It would problem take up half my day just applying and reapplying. So, I just try to be happy and content with who I am. What you see is what you get. Nothing fake or artificial.

      @Jimbo_Gringo ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I’ve worn one before mate and if you sweat a lot it will definitely come loose. I trained jiu jitsu in it the people at my gym knew I wore it so I wasn’t worried about it coming off, but even sparring hard it never came off lol. But I would get super sweaty by the end of a class with a lot of sparring and I would go into changing rooms and I could just move it around my head just by pushing it, they stay on but the glue is not cut out for alot of sweat at all.

      Shave your head, you will feel so good after. In fact after you shaved your head you might even re-visit having a haircut later with your less set of hair because you start taking your hair less serious. In any way it's a great confidence boost and a great learner that hair doesn't have to be perfect to look good. So just stop thinking about it and shave that off.
      Hair transplants are risky and they leave an ugly scar. If you're unlucky you keep balding after and have to shave anyway but now with a nasty scar in the back so avoid that. Of course the transplant clinic will not say this because they want your money.
      Good luck friend.

    Greetings again, Rick, from a fellow HD111 system wearer! Excellent video, and brother, you're right, it does look great. This unit looks a like the hair length is a little longer than some of the others I've seen you with. My stylist and I are still experimenting with the length I prefer, and lately I've been trying it at around 2", with a similar hairstyle to yours (I'm 62 years old). I'm a college professor and I find it looks neater, and a bit more conservative (not that I am particularly), for the school year. I go a little longer for the summer, which suits the ageing hippy in me.
    A couple of suggestions you might consider, (I continue to learn so much from you that I hope you won't mind):
    1. I find that as careful as I am that I used to get some glue on my fingers. It was a real pain to get off, so I bought a big box of latex gloves and use one pair when applying the glue and then wiping the glue bottle down with some rubbing alcohol (that's what we call isopropyl up in the Great White North of Canada). I then put on a fresh pair to apply the system, and give the finger tips a little spray of the alcohol before I install the system itself. That way I avoid having hair stick to the little bits of glue I may have had on my fingers.
    2. Before I brush my hair I use one of those really wide tooth combs to put it roughly into place. Then, using the brush, I smooth it out. Everyone has their own product preference after, but I find that a dab of L'Oreal 4mat does the trick to keep it in place all day.
    Anyhow, keep up the great videos. I'm sure they inspire new system wearers, and as a relatively experienced wearer now I still appreciate and learn from them.
    David
    p.s. I had a bit of a hair disaster myself the other day when the system fell off the manequin head after I had glue it. A few sections went into the glue but I patiently solvented and combed it back well. I thought of your previous video and took it all in good stride.

      hey just wondering how often do you clean your thin skin HD111....I am using front lace system but considering switching to thin skin., though was told they only last a month. Any insight you can provide would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

    • @Prindad
      @Prindad ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Bk-pb8fz I remove my system every 4 days and clean it then. I use only glue around the entire perimeter and clean-up is so quick and easy it amazes me. I spray with C-22 and then use cotton makeup pads the wipe the glue off. It comes off in big glue balls. It usually takes me two passes around the system to complete the process. Then, I use some Dawn soap on the interior just to clean it off more.
      I wash the system and add conditioner then, let it dry a bit, and reapply. My systems easily last 12-15 weeks, though I think they could go longer.

    Very great toupee. And the fact not being able to see the front border is awesome.
    What are the kind, length and density of hair ?
    If you can keep it a month before removing it, do you mean that you can then take shower without any problem ? Do you apply shampoo and conditioner every day ?
    As it is a poly base, this toupee is not breathable, right ? And as you scalp is oily as you say, don't you never meet any problem with sweat and bacteries for keeping it a few weeks ?

    • @Superhairpieces
      @Superhairpieces  ปีที่แล้ว

      Rick likes to do it once a week, but it can be done more or less often depending on personal preference. Rick makes his own templates and cuts his own system, so no one needed to set it up for him. For those that don't feel confident doing that though, there is the option to have a professional cut the system base to the right size for you.

    After using the Solvent, I put a small amount of baking soda over it and scrub gently with an old soft toothbrush. This step ensures that all the glue and solvent is gone. I also do the same for my scalp. It freshens everything up.

    • @Superhairpieces
      @Superhairpieces  ปีที่แล้ว

      How long a system stays on is up to your preference, usually our clients remove them once a week or once every two weeks for maintenance and cleaning. But they can be removed daily, or left on for longer than 2 weeks, depending on the adhesive you use. Doing more regular maintenance (once a week like Rick) will reduce issues of sweat or odour, so as long as you are keeping it clean you shouldn't notice any stink :)

    Hi Rick, At what point can you comb the hair. They say "don't comb wet". Do you towel or air dry first? It looks like you comb it damp in the video. Your hair always looks "not dried" - It looks moist (which I prefer). What type of product do you use on it, if any? AND what is your rule of thumb when it's OK to comb? Does the hair pull out if combed wet? Thanks.

    • @rickdouglas5830
      @rickdouglas5830 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually, I have no idea how you can avoid combing the hair when it’s wet. It would dry and you’d have to wet it again do anything with it. It never hurts the system to comb it wet. I do it every morning. I use Aveda men styling gel.

      We wouldn't recommend washing a hair system more than once or twice a week. You can still shower daily, but avoid shampooing. As long as you use a waterproof glue or tape though, showering shouldn't much affect the attachment

    Does it ever get itchy or dry feeling? Also, can you wash it like you would your normal hair while it's attached?

    • @Superhairpieces
      @Superhairpieces  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It can feel itchy at first, but as long as you don't have a reaction to the adhesive you use (always do a patch test first!) most people get used to it pretty quickly and the itching goes away. There are also products like scalp protector that can help. You can wash your hair, but it is recommended to only do it about once a week with shampoo, to be very gentle when doing it, and to only use shampoo safe for use on wigs.
