I use the same rod with a different penn reel in md and de....Imo nothing beats an uglystik in the surf...mine takes so much abuse while not being affected the slightest bit
Grant Kuehn Cut bunker chunks on 6/0 bluefish hooks with a 2 ounce sinker on a simple "fish finder" rig. Mackerel works good too if bunker is not available.
Hey man. Thanks for watching. Using 40 pound test braid as the main line and 50lb test fluro as a leader. you can use 20 pound test nylon mono filament as well which was the go to before braid. Rod is 10 feet.
+MrJake365 If throwing bait, and to keep it simple...use different types of the most common baits sold at your local shops or used by observing other fishermen. Try for at least 3 different baits and put one of each on a different pole spaced about 15 to 20 feet apart and throw each out and take log of what species hits what bait and/or what bait works best overall. This might take several outings, hook size changes, tides, etc., but that's what I'd do if dropped in your area. As for bigger fish, I'd say throw a big chunk of the most common bait fish in your area out there and hope!
Matthews Custom Construction That's an old ten foot ugly stik. For casting it's not the greatest but it'll get chunks out there far enough for blues and stripers. Consider St. Croix surf rods as well.
I enjoy all ur videos. Ur screen name is fitting. Do u only fish locally or do u head south down the coast. If so have u had the same luck? Also do u fish ur back bays and estuaries?
I just picked up the 6500 Live Liner model on sale from J & H Tackle for $128. I was going to put it on my 8-ft Tsunami Air Wave rod, but it looks too be a bit oversized for it, so I'm going to keep my 4500LL model on it and pick up a 10-ft or 11-ft Tsunami Air Wave rod for the larger reel. I used to love the Ugly Stiks until I discovered the Tsunami rods and was sending my bait out twice as far as I could with the Ugly Stiks. And, they're just as strong as (if not stronger) than the Ugly Stiks. And much lighter, too.
FisherofmanNY how much you want to bet we bump into each other, especially in June when it gets more crowed. I'll pm once I see mullet and peanuts which should be in the coming weeks.
Most aren't sealed so if dunked they will corrode unless you purchase a van staal or zeebaas. This reel happens to be "water tight" which means it can be dunked, just not workedd underwater.
+Naseer Saeed Sorry bout that. My editing was crappy at the start of this channel, going to put a little more effort in this season. show the last fish pretty good though here@ 5:47
I don't get people who stay hours and hours fishing and let them go, injury to the fish most of the time, in my country youll get thrown in jail if u throw back fish
I know, sucks over there, had to break out of jail like twice just to catch and release before moving here. Nah, dude it's like this... I fish for sport mostly and explain in the description and in the comments why they go back :D
+Relax and Fish I know right, if I were to get a smallie it would be so wrong to release it, even a 1 inch .01 pounds would feed an entire village. That's like throwing away gold.
shitty editing on my part in the beginning. Show them better here, pay no attention to the crappy scale readings. th-cam.com/video/tiu1IZwpnfU/w-d-xo.html
@relaxandfish Nice video until I seen that potato chip bag fly or whatever it was across the screen and it laid there through the video. I got $20 says you didn't pick it up and put it in your pocket or bag to get it off the beach!!! I know, I know, it wasn't yours... Think Conservation friend whenever your in Gods creation enjoying what we all love to do. Thumbs Down
+UnckieBub It was a popcorn bag actually, and I don't film myself throwing out trash dude so keep that $20, but I hear you on the garbage issue. There was a mess all over since this was before Memorial day when they start cleaning up. Several hundred fishermen hit the beach for the spring migration and don't throw away their trash. After Memorial day the gateway crew runs the trash collector rakes along the beach. Btw, I edited that in there deliberately to show folks what I have to deal with as a fisherman who keeps his spots clean for the next guy.
That sounds like a pretty good setup. I've been considering the bigwater 6-12 rod and a spinfisher 9500 for shark
Ugly Stick 10' Bigwater Spinning rod paired with a Penn 650 SS AND 50 LB Power Pro Braid line*
Nice video.........blues are one of my favorites to catch!!!!!!!
Honor the fish Bro. (you seem a little rough on them)
I use the same rod with a different penn reel in md and de....Imo nothing beats an uglystik in the surf...mine takes so much abuse while not being affected the slightest bit
whats up brother im about to come back from being deployed and going to go back home for a bit where is this spot at ?
Great video, thanks for posting it. Where is this?
What were you throwing? I fish southern New Jersey with little experience and need tips.
Grant Kuehn Cut bunker chunks on 6/0 bluefish hooks with a 2 ounce sinker on a simple "fish finder" rig. Mackerel works good too if bunker is not available.
How much is that line twisted :P entertaining video, must be relaxing to sit and chunk
Nice video!!!! Where were you catching those blues??
I have that exact rod and fished it with an older Penn 650 SSM* Caught many big blues with it*

@@seso2010ful That's the older generation of the Ugly Stik Bigwaters.
Friend very good video .. A question nylon number using? and how many feet have the cane?
Hey man. Thanks for watching. Using 40 pound test braid as the main line and 50lb test fluro as a leader.
you can use 20 pound test nylon mono filament as well which was the go to before braid. Rod is 10 feet.
Bluefish will eat the bunker right off of the bottom like that?
I go fishing on the Oregon coast (surf & jetty). I use clam necks and catch only flounders. Got any tips to catch different species and bigger fish?

Is that a 1 piece big water ugly stik and if so where did you get it?
+Ian Emerson it's a two piece.
What kind of rod is that? I'm looking at getting a penn battle 2 5000 or 6000 and am looking for a good rod for surf fishing stripers
Matthews Custom Construction That's an old ten foot ugly stik. For casting it's not the greatest but it'll get chunks out there far enough for blues and stripers. Consider St. Croix surf rods as well.
Where is that place? You using Go pro hero 4? and your rod are 100-250g? or?
What line do you use, is it spiderwire stealth braid
Kev Z. yes it is. also use suffix 832
I enjoy all ur videos. Ur screen name is fitting. Do u only fish locally or do u head south down the coast. If so have u had the same luck? Also do u fish ur back bays and estuaries?
Thanks man. I stay local, at least for the foreseeable future. I sometimes hit up the back bays in early spring
do you thing a heavy woukd have good sensitivity too?
What's the lure rating on this model?
Shakespeare Ugly Stik model BWS 1100 10' (3.00 m) Action MH
Where's this ?
Blues good for eating? They seem seem a little bloody...
+ZombieDeathRace yeah, but when they're that size it's better smoked.
+Relax and Fish Ah, cool cool. I'm gonna have to try that. ^_^
How many yards of 20lb mono does that reel hold?
+Jordan Bennett Can hold 210 yards of 20lb mono, and 300 yards of 15 mono.

mack winchester thanks for watching... that's a penn spinfisher v 6500.
what size rod of shakespeare, line class, and ounces it can handle?
1-6oz
+Stratos Diakoniarakis what rod length are you using?
What pound test line are you using?
And what reel are you using and size?
+Andrew Collins I'm not the one who put up the video. The info is in the description though.
Is the 15 ft heavy flimsy?
Where is this located? Is this the outer banks?
What kind of reel are you using?
What size Spinfisher reel do you have on the rod?
That's the 6500 series

+L.I. Archer i have thw 4500 ll and it has given me problems. how is yours holding up?
+Alexx Ramirez mine haven't given me any problems. Just bought a 2nd 4500LL but haven't used it yet. caught a 30 lb striped bass with the 1st one.

FisherofmanNY Thanks, Great Kills beach.

FisherofmanNY how much you want to bet we bump into each other, especially in June when it gets more crowed. I'll pm once I see mullet and peanuts which should be in the coming weeks.

+wayangede2007 smaller ones taste better to me, big ones go back
where exactly is this spot?
Are saltwater reels treated so they wont corrode?
Most aren't sealed so if dunked they will corrode unless you purchase a van staal or zeebaas. This reel happens to be "water tight" which means it can be dunked, just not workedd underwater.
Thank you! I'm a rookie to surf fishing and just getting started with the sport. Its a little overwhelming right now!
Wow. An ugly stik aye? Do you get good distance with it? Great vid bro. Love blue fish fights too
Tevin Thao
Thank you! Distance was always decent. That's an old 10 footer too, lasted me 12 years!
Biggest blue fish I caught is 12 inches so where I fish there small
Is a 7 foot rod ok to use?
What kind bait are you using?
+tyler roberts Menhaden, also called bunker locally.

Luis Cercado off some beach on staten island
Relax and Fish funny...I thought it was Staten Island
Will a medium rod do?
9 or 10 foot medium power would do fine.

Great Video

Brandon Janz There was, about 100 yards or so to the left of me but nothing broke on the surface once they got to where I was at.
+Relax and Fish awesome vid

+Naseer Saeed Sorry bout that. My editing was crappy at the start of this channel, going to put a little more effort in this season. show the last fish pretty good though here@ 5:47

nice
how is that ugly stik for casting lures?
Pure crap, I just throw bait with it. Consider a genesis or tfo surf rod instead for artificials
