A point a lot of people also do not understand is the millions of dollars US banks get from fees transferring local currency of buyer into US dollars which is then forwarded it to receiving US bank for a fee and then converting it to seller currency for a further fee.
The BRICS currency if ever materialized should be based on something solid like gold, a country's natural reserves of minerals or oil etc as envisaged. However, if the system is not based on something sound the currency will quickly collapse and rendered useless. It's not supposed to be the savior for those already financially troubled countries to take a free ride or dumping their financial woes onto the newly created BRICS currency system. It's main purpose is to replace the US dollar so that trading countries don't have to pay extra unnecessary money for the transactions in US dollars.

Hi Michelle, yes countries are trying to move away from the dollar as there is not enough of it circulating in the system, so that makes it necessary for these countries to diversify some but not all of their trade. However they cant do 100% .. yet. as long as commodities and services are priced in dollars, usd reigns supreme. It took 40 years to build out the current system with multilateral agreements, it will take years before a safe brics currency is widely used, but it is likely to happen.

A point a lot of people also do not understand is the millions of dollars US banks get from fees transferring local currency of buyer into US dollars which is then forwarded it to receiving US bank for a fee and then converting it to seller currency for a further fee.
The greater good is to shed the US hegemon. The host is trying very hard to dismiss the BRICS effort as nothing more a vain attempt.
The BRICS currency if ever materialized should be based on something solid like gold, a country's natural reserves of minerals or oil etc as envisaged. However, if the system is not based on something sound the currency will quickly collapse and rendered useless. It's not supposed to be the savior for those already financially troubled countries to take a free ride or dumping their financial woes onto the newly created BRICS currency system. It's main purpose is to replace the US dollar so that trading countries don't have to pay extra unnecessary money for
the transactions in US dollars.
I think 🤔 you'll find that the people running the show aren't stupid and have already shown the poorer countries how it will be dealt with.
Nothing to be backup US dollars, as US dollars are now weapons, US government has no credit to support it's dollars. US has no enough gold to support current value of US dollars, US doesn't want to share it's natural resources and technology. US dollars will soon worthless.

It can be seen that the host lady probably is shocked when realising the trend of worldwide countries are taking shelter from the BRICS' policy, but she probably didn't realise that the US and western countries should conduct a thorough review on how they have treated these countries so far for if if these countries had been treated fairly and respectfully, BRICS' would not even have a chance to exist.

Hi Michelle, yes countries are trying to move away from the dollar as there is not enough of it circulating in the system, so that makes it necessary for these countries to diversify some but not all of their trade. However they cant do 100% .. yet. as long as commodities and services are priced in dollars, usd reigns supreme. It took 40 years to build out the current system with multilateral agreements, it will take years before a safe brics currency is widely used, but it is likely to happen.

Why hold US Dollars? Because it is the most liquid, therefore, saves money with less friction cost of trading.
Sadly US Dollars are no longer liquid after they are seized. Hence other countries realise that USD reserves are at risk and they need to work out how to trade without USD.
