Reddit user u/ellipticcurve has made a number of non-copyright books for print available, which is where I found this text, so go check them out and give them an upvote!
I love Project Gutenberg, which should come as no surprise. The beauty of what u/ellipticcurve has done is that they’ve arranged the texts so they are ready for printing (called imposition). It’s a huge step ahead for hand bookbinding a text.
Hi Denis. I loved this series, but I always thought it lacked your amazing commentary. So, I can't express how glad I am that you have released this "abridged" version with commentary for us to enjoy!
Thank you so much! Your videos always spark joy and make bad days much better. I hope to be picking up bookbinding as well in the nearer future, it just seems so very rewarding once you are somewhat comfortable. Have a wonderful Christmas with your family!
Wow, this is so inspiring Dennis! The lighting and videography are beautiful, chef's kiss. It's no easy feat to show this very long and complex fine binding process in 30 mins.
It means so much to hear that from someone who knows how challenging it can be, so I truly appreciate it! I felt almost guilty having to slash so much out of the original series, but it's good to know that the essence of it was still there. Thank you so much for your lovely comment.
I am not a reader. I do read sometimes, but not as often as I should. But I love going to book stores and browsing and I have collected a few books from the early 1900’s and even some from the 1800’s. So I know the joy a book can bring. The smell, the feel. When I watch your videos, I can feel the love and attention that is being put into your craft. Amazing, simply amazing work sir. You are a true artist. I especially loved the Dune rebinding you did and honestly I am jealous 😅. Thank you for sharing your process. It is a joy to watch.
How beautiful! I loved that, very lovey finish, especially loved watching you do the edging with paint & gilding, looks fabulous. Thank you for sharing your work with us over the year, you do really lovey binds! Happy Cool Yule to you and yours too Dennis!
Beautifully and meticulously done, literally spellbinding 😊 A future hierloom to be treasured for generations to come. Season's greetings and so, as Tiny Tim observed, God bless Us, Every One!
I have been totally absorbed by your absolute and total professionalism in this video. Thank you so much for taking us through the highly technical and artistic side of book production in a one-off capacity. I have been a printer, on and off throughout my life, producing the “printed word” for one reason or another and it has been so nice to see the art taken to the next level of production. Thank you so much for the video.
This is such a fascinating and enjoyable watch. It seems like you take pride in your work, and it shows in the attention to detail. I can't get over the extra touch of the detailed page edges. Amazing! Thank you so much for sharing your art!
Amazing…as always! Congratulations for another beautiful and delicate work! Love to start my own library with personal book binding by my self! Such an inspiration!
What a great, calming way to spend my post-lunch Thursday. I love your videos, the books you bind/rebind are absolute works of art. Merry Christmas to you and your family!
How It's Made went on for a *long* time, so if there's anything you haven't seen, it's currently being uploaded in batches to TH-cam. It's not being done in the original episode format, but grouped together with things like a two hour compilation of sports equipment, glassware, or kitchen stuff, etc.
Lovely! What a nice surprise, I didn’t expect another video before Christmas! I don’t think I have seen the painting and gilding of book edges before; it was, as ever, completely absorbing. I must look for the full version of this, a gift to myself! Thank you and Happy Christmas.
Truly outstanding work in every respect. The decorative work on the edges of the text block was incredible. Thank you so much for all the effort of filming this process, it's really appreciated. A very merry Christmas and a happy New year to you and your family. From 🇬🇧
Your work is so incredible to watch and the way you talk us through it is such a joy! You’ve inspired me to start making some basic notebooks for myself and friends. Perhaps I’ll eventually work up to a project as complex and beautiful as this!
As a person who suffers from PTSD (childhood trauma), which in part manifests as ADHD and also lives with adjustment syndrome (depression, anxiety, etc.) as well as a plethora of physical issues, I find that your videos, your soothing voice, and indeed your craft of bookbinding with the reptative patterns inherent in your craft and your own process are all very soothing, calming, and an unrivalled source of peace and joy. Thank you for sharing your projects and welcoming us into your bindery. May you and your family have all the best of this Christmas season.
Awesome work! where can I find the text so I can have it printed to make my own book?

Another option is the Gutenberg Project, which is a repository of out of copyright literature intended to make sure it never becomes inaccessible

I’m sure you’ll love it, thank you!
I'm only two minutes in, but so far the narration is giving very strong "How It's Made" vibes and I am 100% here for it!
I hold my breath every time you bevel something! Such precise and steady work 😰
Those painted edges on the pages!! Wow! Beautiful beautiful work!!!❤
Hello Denis, thank to you and your family for your wishes. I wish you too and everyone a Merry Christmas and may God bless us all and protect us.
Thank you for putting in the time to make this abridged edit. I like getting more detail, but it's so satisfying to see the start to finish in one go
I have never been this early. Merry Christmas to the bindery and everyone watching this video right now (2 mins after the video was posted)!

Splendid color choices and careful work resulted in a remarkable book that would be the delight of any bibliophile. Well done.

I thought I recognized this - I highly enjoyed the abridged version!!
Beautifully and meticulously done, literally spellbinding 😊 A future hierloom to be treasured for generations to come. Season's greetings and so, as Tiny Tim observed, God bless Us, Every One!

Thank you! Always a pleasure to watch you at work! Merry Christmas to all!
i'd love to see an episode all about leather - what types you use, how you go about getting it, how you prep it for putting it on a book, etc
What a lovely Christmas gift this video is! Thank you so much!
Merry Christmas too. Thank you for you poetry and sharing your inspiring work.

Im so sick and this is everything I needed. Mainstream media doesn’t have good sick day content anymore since How Its Made was cancelled.

I listen to this audiobook every Christmas. It's nice to see the hardcopy created.
