It helps to assemble all of the tools in advance and quickly reference each one. When you suddenly started using a scissor to guesstimate the curve, then changed to a french curve, you would have confused even experienced sewers. In trying to make this "simple" I am afraid you made it confusing instead. Also, the hem is much easier with a zigzag hemline seam.

What type of stitch did you use for the neckband and the hemline?
+Venise Hughes (Lap Hankies) I used my serger on the neckline. A straight stitch is fine for the hem.

where did you get that hip curve ruler from?
YOu can buy them from Ebay, Amazon Etc. YOu can buy an entire ruler set for pattern making for under 100.00, I got mine from Ebay years ago.
