"The first time I ever really listened to Kyle Kulinski’s show was in the back of a cab last summer. The driver had his phone hooked up through the stereo and was pumping out an episode through the car speakers - loudly, as if looking to convert a captive audience.
    “Do you like Kyle Kulinski?”
The driver, Ahmed, was a recent immigrant and apparently a die-hard fan of Secular Talk, the political talk show that Kulinski broadcasts on TH-cam. I told him, yes, in fact. I do like Kulinski, had come across his show several years ago, and, all things considered, he seemed pretty good.
“He understands what we’re up against,” Ahmed said. “Like Bernie.”
But I was surprised to hear Kulinski’s name mentioned in the same breath as Bernie Sanders, particularly with such adoration. Because what I did remember about Kulinski’s show struck me as mostly capital-P “progressive” takes on the news - the left wing of the Netroots crowd more than the democratic socialism Sanders has popularized.
It’s an impression that wasn’t entirely incorrect.
“I have no time for philosophical, airy bullshit,” Kulinski tells me from his home in Westchester, New York. “I don’t want to hear about Lenin. I don’t want to hear about Marx. I just want a super plainspoken, straightforward agenda with a straightforward way of selling it.”
With over 800,000 subscribers and nearly 670 million total views on TH-cam, selling a progressive agenda is clearly something Kulinski knows how to do - even Democracy Now, the long-standing flagship of progressive media, cannot match his reach on the platform. Chapo Trap House can certainly boast a wildly devoted fan base (and a not insignificant degree of media influence), but their audience is roughly half the size of Kulinski’s.
While Secular Talk might be more likely to be looped in with the progressive networks around Air America and Pacifica alums like Sam Seder than the more resolutely socialist world, Kulinski’s fiery rhetoric, razor-sharp class instincts, and knack for withering takedowns sets him apart from his peers. Judging by his rhetoric alone, he’s closer to a Eugene Debs than a Chris Hayes.
But unlike Hayes, Amy Goodman, or his friend Cenk Uygur of The Young Turks - who began airing Secular Talk on his web network seven years ago - the thirty-two-year-old Kulinski is virtually invisible in the mainstream media. Despite his enormous fan base, his show has never once been mentioned in the obligatory trend pieces on “the Millennial Left” pumped out by the prestige media. Nor has Kulinski’s name ever popped up at all in the New York Times, Vox, the New Yorker, New York Magazine, or the Washington Post, despite his leading role in cofounding Justice Democrats, the organization widely credited with sweeping Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and the rest of “the Squad” to power.
Just last week, his Wikipedia page was deleted. The reason? “There is very simply no [reliable source] coverage of this person,” according to one moderator. In new media, he’s king - the Sean Hannity of the Berniecrat left. In old media, he’s nobody.
I suspect there are a few reasons for that. There is nothing “cool” about Kulinski’s show. (As a friend put it, “‘Welcome to Secular Talk’ sounds like something you’d hear on Egyptian radio.”) His no-nonsense social-democratic politics won’t get him much cred with the Full Communism crowd. He records his show not in Brooklyn or Los Angeles, but in a studio he built himself in his modest Westchester home. His hair is too groomed and his taste in clothes too preppy to qualify as “Dirtbag Left.” Nor has he ever attended an n+1 release party. “Not only have I not attended one,” he says, “I have no idea what that means.”
And yet he’s astonishingly plugged-in for a young man in the suburbs. Wondering how Sanders ended up on the Joe Rogan Experience? Kulinski, a frequent guest on Rogan’s wildly popular show, introduced them. “You make the most sense to me,” Rogan told Kulinski on a recent episode. “You’re a normal person.”
Much like Sanders himself, Kulinski’s show has a massive audience that just doesn’t compute with our media’s understanding of “what the kids want” or even “what the left-wing kids want.”
It’s probably for the best - the very woke and very WASP-ish decorum haunting much of the media world is nowhere to be found in Secular Talk. “Corporate Democrats over-focus on identity as a trick to divert you from the issues that unite us all - class issues,” he said on a recent episode.

      1. Conspiracy people are not a monolith, why the othering?
Believing some also doesn't mean you believe all and all versions.
      2. Many conspiracy theorists grew up with religions/cults and fell out of that.
Why they know conspiracies exist and happen... and if some are true, why not others.
The history books are clear on the conspiring's that happened in religions, but also monarchies and governance.
And that is the slippery rabbit hole.
State secrets are kept secret by creating nut jobs like Jones that discredit everything labeled "conspiracy".
The CIA made this a buzz word to make people ignore some actual facts.
Like the killing of JFK, human experiments, eugenics, etc.

You play boy who cried wolf with quite possibly the worst crime imaginable. I thought of this recently with the new sound of freedom movie and the discourse surrounding it. Had this movie come out ten years ago before the rise of Qanon and the “groomer” rhetoric, it would’ve been seen as an awesome movie similar to Taken with Liam Neeson. You're more right than you might realize. Psychedelics hit a whole bunch of serotonin receptors in your brain. Antipsychotics, particularly for schizophrenia, help to dial down serotonergic signaling. Alex Jones is probably a schizophrenic, maybe mild, but certainly untreated. Oftentimes schizophrenia and psychedelic trips overlap in terms of how they work and what their content is

    • @vinnie666

    • @kennybachman35
      @kennybachman35 ปีที่แล้ว

He could actually benefit greatly from psychedelic therapy. It’s like a reset button for your brain. He needs a nice healthy hero dose, and watch his ego die an agonizing death and just fade into oblivion. Brings you right back down to Mother Earth. I’d recommend a trip-sitter and doing it in the woods or an open field. Just incase he goes primal and starts throwing his feces around. Once he cracks you can just take him and hose him off. And then the questions will start. How does humanity work? What is empathy and common decency? How can he too become a human person? What is love? etc. etc. because these are things he never learned. So you have to treat him like a toddler while not condescending or embarrassing him for not knowing. And rebuild him with integrity and compassion.

    • @SpikeTFA
      @SpikeTFA ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@kennybachman35 I have to say, this is one of the extremely rare occasions where I disagree that psychedelic therapy would help. I think he is probably an undiagnosed schizophrenic, and they are nearly the only class of people for whom psychedelics can actually do further damage. I'm not saying it's not worth a try! He exhibits every symptom of derealization.
Similarly, David Icke had his own break on LSD, and the cliché "omg I'M Jesus!" experience. He's gone on to become one of the world's leading conspiracists.
Having gone on many deep trips (15+ grams of mushrooms), I recognize *every single thing* people like Jones or Icke say. I know where they come from and I know why they say it. I'm not particularly prone to paranoia, so it hasn't affected me in that same way
Again, I am a huge proponent of psychedelic legalization, therapy, and even just pure exploration. It may end up leading to research to help people escape paranoid delusions, but at the moment without that kind of knowledge, crazy conspiracy theories are often reinforced.
Take the case of Jacob Chansley, the "Q Shaman." He routinely held "ceremonies" where he would administer heroic doses of mushrooms and proceed to convert people to the Q religion. We must develop a way to combat this

I doubt it. I'm a computational cognitive neuroscientist who's both studied and used psychedelics for many years.
To me his behavior seems highly aligned with those commonly observed with stimulant abuse. He's sharp, undistracted, fully-engaged, and manic. High doses of amphetamines, phenidates, and/or potentially cathinones can get you here. Stimulant psychoses are fairly common with high/frequent dosing. I also wouldn't rule out opioids (here) and/or alcohol (in other videos) in combination.

I remember when his show got pulled from the apple podcast app. I was watching a video reacting to the show being pulled. There was a comment that said it was all a CIA Op. It said Alex was a CIA asset and he spent years creating a fanbase and now that the show was pulled and the only way to listen to it was by downloading his app or logging into his website. When you do so your device will be infected with spyware and you will be on a watch list. You have to admit that is pretty good. You need talent to come up with these conspiracies.

This is exactly what Kyle has talked about in this video, Alex Jones makes everyone who goes against the official US/NATO narrative sound crazy, which is why you yourself thought Alex being a CIA asset is an insane conspiracy theory. In reality he might be a CIA asset or he might not be one, in either case he ended up being useful to the CIA by discrediting the idea of going against the official US/NATO narratives.

I have a former co-worker who is just like this (Alex). Can't hold a normal conversation w/ colleagues/friends without bringing up pyramids w/ eyes, doing a triangle shape w/ his hands over his eye, talking about "Sanat Kumara" and other "demons" that tormented his family, etc...used to make bizarre TH-cam videos yelling in a hillbilly voice, flipping off the camera and mocking people that dance in church, screaming about "Lucifer controlling the penis headed coworker who cost him his last job", etc. At one point, he went on this long 'rant/lecture' about different philosophers/etc. like Rene Descartes, Isaac Azmov, Carl Sagan, etc. saying they were all secretly controlled by Satan and that their teachings somehow led to the "lie of the serpent".
Worst part? Guy was a teacher for 25 years.

It's pretty simple to me...he'd rather see himself & everyone else dead than to be "poor" like the rest of us peons. It's an extreme version of narcissism.
