The Alienware M18 R2 (2024) is a beauty no doubt. The issue, however, that I have with these gaming machines from Dell is that the display does not get very bright and that is a definite no go for me. The webcam and internal mics are okay. I will agree with you Andrew in that the Alienware M16 R2's audio quality sounds better than on its big brother. All in all, it's a great gaming machine with lots of ports, upgradable RAM and the RTX 4090 to boot. I just wished the display was a lot brighter which for me, hinders my interest in it. Great review Andrew as always!! 👍😁
Nice pc. Camera was okay and speakers sounded a little flat. As a desktop type portable pc this is a good choice. It might be a little on the heavy side but working with it on your desk this will be stable and will not move around very much. Keyboard layout is good. Numpad laid out correctly. Great review.
I'm a huge fan of the larger laptops... But wish we still had eg XPS 17 updated with better power budgets, high refresh IPS screen, and better cooling (ideally with a switch to AMD processors). If I had to buy today I'd need to give this Alienware a look... The gamer-ness and backlight issues of this model (also the numpad - I prefer centered keyboard) are the major drawbacks for me. As is I think I'd need to pass on this Alienware and still go with a Framework 16.
Sucks big time in the Display department. No OLED. No 240 or 265Hz Refresh Rate. Brightness is not good enough. I mean, come on. It's almost 2025 guys.
Growth and evolution is inherently painful. While prices of imported goods will likely increase, there is plenty of incentive for these companies on the other side of the world to open domestic U.S. factories, thus avoiding all tariffs. This would in turn boost the U.S. economy and could trigger a tech boom outside of Silicon Valley and usher in a new era of computing innovation and healthy competition. But never mind all that, bcuz orange man bad, right?
@IrisYield It's not going to be immediate, and I'm assuming it will take longer than 4 years to fully implement, all while consumers continue to suffer.
I just got this yesterday with the same specs. Beast!
I picked up an XPS 13 Lunar Lake thanks to your review.

Design looks like a throwback from the 90's, Omen, Zephyrus or Legion anyday!
I just got this beast, with same specs 4070 18inch, incredible one
Really solid review, Andrew. Thanks!
Much appreciated!
Wjats a good sleeve for this beast and not some flimsy flapper
Legion PRO 7i GEN 9(2024) review ma man?
Hey Andrew, could you please review HP Elietbook X g1a 🎉
Once the embargo lifts I will do so. I have been using it and loving it.
Would love to see the Legion 7i Gen 9 (2024) review next!
Right on time it's on the way

This laptop deserves a much better screen with a higher brightness, and either higher resolution or higher refresh rate
This device looks sick man! 😂
5:07 That's why I'm waiting for CES; I need lots of RAM.
I bring my M16 - 4090 everywhere with me. It is a desktop replacement. :):):)
I have the R18 for work and it's too big to travel with. I might get a m16 with matching peripherals for myself
@ I agree
@@ZHuang-ei1eq x16 with 4090 is 2999 I may go for that one.
@@Petitelapinou1 Not within 3-5 years. My wife will kill me. :) :) :)
I wonder what happens to those new computers that no one buys for years maybe. Do they get liquidated or something?
Yes. It gets recycled.
does anyone know more laptops with 5Gbps Ethernet port? or 2.5Gbps?
I have this with 4070. It's my cs go machine. Wish I got the 4090
There was a hidden deal 64GB, RM 4090, 2TB for 2899$
Ordered this one, and I hope it doesn't fail me.
spec write so tiny ... can t read smartphone
Agreed…so much empty space lol
Got this 5 months ago, 2 laptops replaced later and after 7 service tickets for it going wrong, just don't buy it, avoid yourself a headache.....

Alienware needs to refresh this laptop it looks dated.
And don’t forget about tariffs. 2025 with Trump on the lead, will make these gaming laptops incredibly expensive. Just saw Linus on it 😢 rip.
Sadly, no laptop meets my needs right now. No laptop has good RAM options with Zen 5 or Intel's upcoming Arrow Lake at the moment.
It's better for the USA government but not good for the people, they see China as a threat, but Taiwan are ally is a great producer.
Ugh it’s crazy price
