I agree with your assessment of the sound of the two TXs. The Lectro sounds slightly warmer than the SD. Probably both could be matched exactly with EQ.

Hello Micheal been watching your vids for close to a year now.
Thank you for all the knowledge you put online.
I’m going to Nab also! I’ve only gone one time. I heard there is a day for production sound mixers to meet but I couldn’t figure out what day that is.
    Hope your doing well

Hi G Man, they do the Ramps dinner every year which is like the OG of social media for sound folks, if they do have it on that Tuesday, I plan on being there, do come introduce yourself!

Sennheiser SK 5212-II has better sound quality than Wisycom MTP 41/40 transmitter... Yes SK 5212 was released a long time ago in 2005, SK 5212-II is a bit newer it was released in 2010, but I think it is the best analog transmitter, and EM 3732-II the best receiver. There is also a handheld version SKM 5200-II. Have you ever tried using that equipment if so what do you think?

Hi M.K, thanks for sharing this info. I don’t have any experience with those particular wireless systems.

    Wow I didn''t expect such a big difference !
It would be cool to hear a comparison with a hard wired 6060. Obviously the adapter and preamp would have an influence but you could check your impression of the A20 mini sounding similar to a SD preamp.

U think hard wired 6060 sounds better than using dpa adapter ?

    • @rperret6
      @rperret6 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@creativegreatsvisuals I meant bypassing the wireless transmission completely by using an XLR adapter. This way we could compare with the virtually unaffected sound of the 6060.
I don't think the microdot adapter changes the sound it's just wiring :)

Great video, as usual, Michael! Thx! Both systems sound great, but indeed, the A20s are more detailed in the highs and I prefer that.

Another great video of your , thank you . I agree that both units sound very well . "Smiley EQ curve" on A20 or bit of gain in the "middle" on DBSM , was my first thought (my guess is Smiley on A20) . Also, A10(AudioLTD) vs A20(Audiotonix:) soundwise , would be very interesting comparison .
    Cheers.

Thank you Dejah, very keen insights! There’s so much more to discuss with these transmitters and their corresponding eco systems, I could go on for days!

Super curious about range performance comparison. I had some DBSMs that i sent back because they were too buggy for me. I was an early adopter. Playing with the nexus now. Ive found the older lavs get a small noise floor with the increase of power output. I found this in the DPA slim and non-core 4060. 6060 seems resistant to mw increase noise. The drop outs on the nexus are very dramatic though. Instead of full mute, it is full mute with ramp up back into full volume. Realllly don't enjoy that. Have you experienced this too?

Hi Voiceguitar, I have begun initial walk tests with the A20 mini & DBSM side by side, and have been using both on set with all the usual RF suspects. I need to do more testing to put out some conclusive results. I can’t speak for the performance of Nexus at this point as it’s only been in my studio and not on set since I’m using the A20RX with my Cantar mini. However, there is a digital hardware upgrade for certain Lectro units available. Anything purchase from Lectro less than three months ago will have the latest RF hardware which is what I’m currently using.

Lectro has more mids, SD bit more warmer and more air to it. Listening through MBP2019 and HD-26. Can't say which is better. Would like to hear also Wisycom even though its analog rf.

what's lacking is a solid range test of these transmitters. not clipped on belt or anything like that. the real world test for us sound mixers would be in an ankle pouch buried, or in a pouch completely hidden on the back.

A real comparison is with a $1000. condenser mic for a boom on a digital transmitter.
