- Hi, this song is a dear old favorite of children and adults from way back. The original words, "Jesus loves me," are taken from John 3:16, and other New Testament passages. We know that Jesus loves us, for He was willing to die for sinners like us.
Jesus Loves Me was written by Anna Bartlett Warner in 1859. She originally wrote two stanzas. Other stanzas have been added throughout the years. Here is the version we sang taken from an old Baptist Hymnal:
Jesus loves me! This I know, for the Bible tells me so;
Little ones to Him belong; they are weak, but He is strong.
Refrain:
Jesus loves me.
Yes, Jesus loves me,
Yes, Jesus loves me,
The Bible tells me so.
Jesus loves me! He who died Heaven's gates to open wide!
He will wash away my sin, let His little child come in. (refrain)
Jesus loves me! Loves me still, tho' I'm very weak and ill;
From His shining throne on high, comes to watch me where I lie. (refrain)
Jesus loves me! He will stay close beside me all the way;
If I love Him, when I die He will take me home on high. (refrain)

HI, I sent a few dollars to a childrens charity once, put a note in and asked the receiver of the funds to put up a note that said " Tell the children God loves them" after that I was thinking to myself, who am I to tell the children that? I don't know what these kids are going through...after that I drove past a church sign that read " Tell the children I love them, God"❤...yes Jesus Loves us...Jeff

The song that the "For his name's sake" had sung, it reminds me, that I've taught the little kids in the school long ago, and when you sang, it reminds me to those kids long ago, on a Christian school in Assam in India. And now those kids they had became a man a lady. Amen.
