The after care for wisdom teeth is really what makes the experience for everyone different you got a good doctor especially with the aftercare advice he gave. just for everyone's reference the reason you want to ice the heck out of your cheecks the first 24 hours is really what allows you to stop the bleeding fast. because ice adds compression and the cold temp makes the blood coagulate faster. this applies to any sort of open wound or bruising. after the 24 hours you do not want to ice it any longer because at this point you would have already stopped bleeding and your facials muscles especially around the cheeks are going to go to the next step of recover so it's going to start swelling which is the results of some inflammation that happens typically so in order to like calm down the inflammation and reduce the sweeling you wanna add warmth similar to when you get period cramps for the girls. so basically post 24 hours after the surgery it's mostly going to involve pain management and infection prevention. first 24 hours after surgery you don't want to brush because that might disturb and disrupt the healing process where the blood is trying to coagulate but after 24 hours you actually want to brush lightly and maybe do a rince because you want to prevent an infection at this point but you also don't want to be harsh because it's still within the healing process. after 48 hours typicaly you should already start to get back to normal to finally start feeling normal. some swelling is still going to be around but typically after 48 hours you should already start to feel better and the risk of dry socket at this point is very very low unless you have some sort of disorder that typically takes longer for your wounds to stop bleeding then really after day 3 the risk of dry socket isn't even there anymore. you should still eat soft food but it's more so because of pain management since the gums are going to stay sore for a while. edit: please don't think I'm a nerd I swear I'm not I'm just very unfortunate when it comes to health so I've gotten quite familiar with aftercare procedures (also because of how paranoid I get at wanting to prevent things from getting worse because of my chronic illness)

it is wild to me that anyone could manage having all four wisdom teeth removed AT THE SAME TIME. I got two out at the same time and was a complete wreck.
I got 4 pulled out and they were impacted but never gave me laughing gas, just numbed my mouth and no medicine afterward to…. Lol it sucked but I survived and managed and was better 2 days later, although had to miss thanksgiving dinners those days
I've also been getting extensive dental work done in the past few few weeks. You know you have a good doctor when you don't go through alot of pain, you have an easy and speedy recovery, the bleeding is minimal! I feel so lucky to have a good dentist as growing up my parents never took me to the dentist so I need alot to repair 😢 don't neglect your teeth in your youth, who cares about not smoking, vaping or not drinking for a few weeks! Or if you can quit this things for your oral health and overall health even better! Take this from your Unnie 😌

For my wisdom tooth surgery, I only needed the bottom two removed, and they gave me an IV instead of laughing gas to knock me out. I woke up afterwards and was totally fine-- no weird behavior or anything lol I was SO paranoid about acting strange and saying weird things, but thankfully I was alert and coherent 😂
This video is low-key giving me PTSD from getting my wisdom teeth out because my dentist didn't give me painkillers and my parents didn't buy any, so I was lying on the couch in excruciating pain for hours until my parents got tired of my begging and finally ran to the store to grab some. I just got all my wisdom teeth taken out 6 days ago. I had zero swelling, no bruising and stopped needing any pain meds after day 2. Idk why but I was terrified of getting them taken out but I don’t remember a thing since I was sedated and recovery has been a breeze thank goodness
Just wanted to mention this just in case, if you are using an irrigation syringe to clean the wisdom teeth holes, make sure you check for any air bubbles! When I had my wisdom teeth taken out, there were times were I didn't do that and an air bubble popped in there and it hurt A LOT.

I was given iv anesthesia as well. I was out of it for a while after waking up. I don’t remember anything until I was getting in the car to leave.
