Was born in 1987 so I didn't have the pleasure watching Chippy, watched snippets on TH-cam but was lucky enough he coached the U13 Irish team & we played Arsenal at the training ground & the hallowed turf of Highbury as Liam was head scout, great memories. Odegaard this season reminds me of Iniesta when it comes to vision and dribbling. Next season he’s gonna actually be able to play in the position he wants which is LCM once we sign a new midfielder. Can you imagine Odegaard on the left next season? Criminal. He has potential to be one of the greatest midfielders.

1999, last game of the season, I was there at Highbury. Arsenal-Aston Villa. Arsenal one point behind United . Spurs played United at home. Les Ferdinand scored the first for Spurs and then Beckham and Cole turned it around if i remember correctly!

People on this thread are trying to compare Odegaard to De Bruyne. They are two totally different types of attacking midfielders. Being objective, Odegaard is much smoother on the ball than De Bruyne and plays much better intricate passes in tight spaces. But where De Bruyne is much better than Odegaard is generating goals himself with lights out high risk passes that often result in him losing possession but also creating a ton of goals. It really depends on what you are looking for in an attacking midfielder. But if you are basing it on generating goals, De Bruyne is light years ahead of Ødegaard.
Odegaard: 3,783 minutes played, 11 goals, 9 assists, G/A every 189.15 minutes
De Bruyne: 1,381 minutes played, 6 goals, 16 assists, G/A every 62.77 minutes

@@TheKnowledge1 Have you even thought about MØ is doing different tasks in highpressuregames. He is leading the press, runnng most and works more like Kante in those games. Arteta gives MØ instructions, and he does what Arteta asks of him. If he plays against top clubs like LFC or ManC he dictate Arsenals attack, playing around the defend to get the secondassists.
When you say he is ghosting, he hasn't got the assist, but often have played through Saka or Havertz, so they can get the assist with a 45-pas from the sideline. MØ is the player in top 5 leagues with most created chances. This include big games like playing Porto, Bayern, ManC or LFC.

Have you ever thought about his intention is pressing to make the defenders to make a mispass. Arseanl are considered along the best pressing team without possetion in the League, just from the fact MØ is leading the press. I really don't think there are any in the football-circus thinking those runs are pointless.

They are not under pressure seeing Odegaard prancing towards them knowing he’s not actually going to put a foot in. So they can do as they please. Pressing is what prime Liverpool do being rats and actually winning the ball back. Show me a clip of Odegaard pressing and winning the ball. You won’t be able to. Wasting his own energy for pointless running stats. Work smarter not harder.

Odegaard should practice free kicks all summer. It might help him add 3-5 goals a season.
Trossard actually has a good free kick in him. They should put him on them a bit more.
I noticed Arsenal dont get freekicks on the box area because if you watched Arteta's Arsenal for the last 2 seasons they use both flanks to create chances.
They dont use central area to create chances which reduces the chances of getting freekicks

odegaard still are ignored too often near the opponents box. if arsenal can adjust this and get fullbacks who have technical ability and composure. who know how to play football in possession under heavy press, they will improve a lot

Love Ray but I feel this was a comparison a bit too far - Bergkamp (👑) is a title winner and an absolute Legend here at Arsenal - and Odegaard has only been a runner-up twice.
