It depends from City to City, bc every City has its own "Comment", which are rules for the mensur, if not properly followed in the mensur, the Referee ("Upa") can interfere and can expel a side from the Mensur. Usally a "round" is 3-5 seconds. Also the student himself dont gives up, bc they are not allowed to talk during mensur, only the Sekundanten talks (U could translate sekundant to some form of coach maybe?) and if a side has a hit, the Doctor (Paukarzt) gets called an checks the injury. If the Doctor thinks that under medical reasons the mensur cant continue, the Paukant (Guy who fences) gets a "abfuhr" (removed from the mensur) and is stitched up again by the doctor or the doctors, depending on how he was hit. The hits are called schmiss.
