Really impressive kit...very well thought out ...
I've always struggled with adequate shelter options in a compact kit ... I ended up going with a cut down closed cell sleep mat big enough to sit and lean on against a tree whilst wearing my U.S. military poncho ,creating a hot micro climate with a couple of tea lights inside my 58
Pattern canteen cup ,I have the heavy cover lid ,so I can snuff out the candles before going to sleep ...
My mat is big enough to lay on but not long enough to go psst my knees ... in a pinch I could kay flat and pitch my poncho as a tarp tent ...I think your set up is more compact and looks efficient ... but I like tougher gear and I always think mylar might fail ...
      Great video .

@@davidjacobs828 Hi David yeah I know what you mean, the material does feel robust but I think if it ripped it would be useless. I think the smock and tarp would be a safe back up. Thanks for the time to view and comment.

Great interesting video mate, well thought out 24hr grab bag kit. And excellent demonstration of some of the kit. I know you got it jammed packed to the gunnels but is there any room for a couple of suggestions?
2 or 3 oxo cubes and maybe a hot chocolate sachet ( cant beat one for a nice hot drink especially before you get your head down 😋) should be able to squeeze in the bot pot ok.
An Exotac hot burn candle to heat up that survival shelter or even to heat your water or food in an emergency where a fire is out of the question. ( obviously id go fire with a reflector behind it to beam the heat back into the shelter but again not always practical or possible ) or maybe a royal marine Artic candle those baby's give off some lovely heat in a confined space.( inside the bot to stop any fire risks as snow holes dont usually catch fire but mylar can !)
Now for the biggest thing ....an orange plastic survival bag. Im thinking more as a ground to air signal panel but also to help protect your sol emergency bivi bag, can even stuff the gap between the two with leaves, grass etc like your heatsheet to make a impromptu sleeping bag to up the insulation value of just the bivi on its todd. My thinking that itll breath and any condensation should be absorbed by the grass or leaves 🤔. And only other thing would be a fold up water bag or collapsible rubber bottle to store purified clean water in to save having to wait everytime for mr millbank to do his magic 💦. But as always these are just my ideas to boost your existing kit. Id be well happy if your grab bag was all i had to survive the night in the wilds no matter how bad the weather. 😊
hope your doing ok health wise now.
    Stay safe mate
    Atb Rob 😊 👍

Hi bud. Yes I hear you malteser drink is @ 17:41 and the orange bag is full of leaves @ 23:03 which goes under the don’t die in the woods shelter to protect the Sol, an explanation of the system @ 21:00 ish. Something to sleep on, something to sleep in and something to sleep under. Also the SOL bivi was inside the shelter @38:24. I guess I could have shown the last bit better but the battery was away to die. I closed the camera door to save it and was a bit off with my aim (Not for the first time 😂) I love the idea about a candle in the bag defo stealing that and I do have a plastic roll up bottle somewhere, which shall now be shoved in 😂 somewhere. All good here mate lost two stones in 3 months, I guess with the smock on nobody noticed. Getting fitter each day but all the chemotherapy has played havoc on my hips. Probably more like from carrying that bloody Inch bag 😂 Take care bud next time something a bit different and posh. Thx for taking time out to watch and comment. Love the interaction with you.

@@STIXSURVIVAL didn't see the malteser drink mix mate honestly took it as a coffee sachet. Yep see the heat sheet bag as a mattress under your shelter I was thinking a poly survival bag over your sol bivi to add insulation and protect the outer layer from damage, 🤦 complete brain fart about the orange heat sheet of course would make an excellent ground to air signal panel. It did all make sense it was probably my interpretation of explaining what I meant about the poly survival bag that was confusing ( more a crayons, mime and expressive dance kind of guy if truth be told lol ) glad the candle idea was useful too, surprising how quickly they help to warm up a small shelter and could make all the difference by several degrees.
Good to hear your on the road to recovery mate. I'm battling it at the moment my self right now ( prostate ) . Luckily not having chemo but radiotherapy instead 8 sessions left to go !I was offered surgery but too many negatives then positives for me personally. Keeping positive everyday though.
Once again great well thought out grab bag set up.
Stay safe mate ATB Rob 👍

@@Rob-qf2fs Sorry to hear that mate it sucks, if you ever need a chat let me know. I had 3 months Bone Marrow and other chemotherapy followed by 30 radio therapy treatments, extensive jaw surgery and some of my stomach taken out for good measure,so I know what it feels like. You sound very similar to me in a lot of ways, the fact that you understand survival means you’ll smash it. Honestly, if you feel down at any point and fancy a chat through instagram or something let me know. We can talk pish if it helps you out. I went through it all when covid was here so had absolutely no way on even leaving the house. One stiff of that and I’d be done for.

@@STIXSURVIVAL Mate I appreciate that more I could ever say, thank you. Definitely try to live up to Commando mind set of " cheerfulness in adversity" and compared to your journey mate, mines been a doodle. Think your definitely right when it comes down to survival though, especially the will to survive. The right mind set is key.
Same here if your ever struggling mate always up for a chat and the odd giggle or two. Thank you once again mate. Means the world 🙂👍

@@STIXSURVIVAL I learnt the hard way being stuck out in the mountains two days away from the car and I roll over in my tent onto my glasses. Like you, I did have some gaffer tape which worked as a temporary fix. But in an emergency situation decent glasses matter.

where is good place to bug out in scotland and forage all season away from people?

    • @STIXSURVIVAL
      @STIXSURVIVAL  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

That’s a tricky one. Scotland has great foraging potential especially around the trossocks, but full of people. To get away from the people the further north the better, but not so good for foraging.
