- After cracking a tooth, I was encouraged by my dentist to get jaw Botox to prevent teeth grinding. Unfortunately, my Botox was administered to the wrong muscle, and I got botched. Here’s my story to explain why I haven’t been uploading much to my main channel (or showing my facecam).

Hey girlie! I’m so sorry this happened to you. I don’t want to influence you, but please reconsider sueing. I don’t know much about the law in Australia. But because you signed a waiver, DOES NOT protect him from medical malpractice. He admitted he has done this before stating he has done 4 girls who work in the same office, which in the US by the fact by saying that alone is giving our personal health information of other PATIENTS! Again, I don’t know about Australia, but in the US patient privacy is taken VERY seriously and would be considered against the law. Also, please consider, if this is his attitude towards Botox, think of his attitude towards more serious allegations. Again, I don’t want to influence or pressure you , but just consider about reporting at the very least.
Sorry if you’re getting lots of people commenting suggestions but if you have a microcurrent device such as the nuface etc you could try using it. The current stimulates muscles and they recommend not using it when you’ve just had Botox as it can counter the effects. It’s a few hundred $$$ to buy so you may not want to but just a thought.

I know you don't want to sue, please report this doctor if that is something you can do in Australia. If he is teaching, there is an issue in what he is teaching.
Exactly. Also, 9/10 he won't lose his license, but he will be still held accountable. He shouldn't casually get away with something as serious as INJECTING anything in the wrong spot.

I’ve had a doctor overdose me on a medicine and I developed medical ptsd as a result. My life is in shambles. I haven’t reported him or sued because when you go through trauma you don’t want to relive it. It’s extremely traumatizing to have to do that so I completely understand why she might not want to do anything about it and just move on from this whole thing. I’m the same way. Just another perspective as to why someone might not take action, it’s just very emotionally difficult.
Yes. If you have a doctors association they have to be registered to you can report them and not sue. We have this in Canada in each province. Doctors can’t practice legally if they are not registered to the board of surgeons and physicians.
Complaints about medical practitioners go through the HCCC (Health Care Complaints Commission) here.
This doctor was so dumb. Making a mistake is not the problem here from a professional perspective. This is a known complication of masster Botox as sometimes people do miss and get the wrong muscle. The part that is more likely to get him in trouble, is how he handled it. If he had just acknowledged the mistake, apologised, and given a refund then most people wouldn't take it any further. By denying the mistake and trying to make the patient feel stupid for being upset, he's obviously going to evoke way more from people.
i am a dentist who has attended many botox courses. One of the ways to get rid of the effects of botox is to just massage it with an electric toothbrush. The vibrations will help the toxin to metabolise quicker. Hope this helps

Dr's gaslighting patients is one of the worst things ever... they are in a position of power and think they can get away with saying anything. Thanks to James for being your support person and co-advocate.

As a nurse I’m so immensely pissed off by the doctor’s reaction. Sure you got the refund but to make you feel that way and then deny any issues 😡 he’s definitely done this before and never learns. Not sure how medical board or certifications are regulated there but he probably shouldn’t be certified for Botox injections.
She should get all her evidence, and get to the medical board. He should definitely be investigated for malpractice. In the UK we have Duty of Candour, trying to deny a mistake would get you in WAY worse trouble than making a mistake.

I'm a pharmacist in the US and we are trained in school on how to apologize to patients when a mistake occurs. We literally had actors come in acting as upset patients so we could practice how to be empathetic and resolve any animosity.

@@Sipu97 it was nerve-wracking for sure but such a good experience to have in a controlled setting. People get upset when things don't go as expected which makes sense when their health is on the line! I try to keep that in mind and show them that I am on their team and want to help correct the issue in any way I can. Everyone deserves that basic level of dignity from healthcare providers
I work in pharmacy too! It's always best to admit when you've made a mistake, for everyone involved, and most of the time, people aren't even that mad when you own up to it.

@@ameliawinters5473 That's so interesting! I've had awful experiences with doctors deciding to be petty instead of looking after my health. You don't have to like me, just do your job. And it never made sense to me why someone would go into healthcare then treat people like shit when they're at their most vulnerable - worried about their health and asking you for help. It's so nice to see people like you who know the importance of treating patient's mental state too.
I’m in physical therapy school and we have simulations where a patient is very upset and won’t take any options you provide but the point is to just listen to the patient and validate their feelings!! He did the complete opposite
Waivers do not absolve mistakes you guys!!! Businesses will make people sign waivers because they are typically ignorant to how the law works, and the waiver will make it look very legal and professional, but it isnt. They're counting on your ignorance. You. Can. Sue. This isn't about money. This is about being compensated for your emotional truama and holding him accountable. I'm very passionate about this lol.

You signed a waiver for a specific body part and came out with something different. I don’t think you could possibly sign anything that would protect them from that… I know it’s an extreme example but the point still stands. You paid, agreed and signed for something you didn’t get. AND was given something horrible instead. I totally understand her sympathy and it shows volumes on how amazing deli is. But the fact that he couldn’t show her the same empathy on his mistake is appalling. That alone would make me wanna take him down… I’m so sick of doctors being dismissive and getting away with it. I'm in the US, and admittedly, we are a much more litigious lot than Australians seem to be, and I am not a lawyer in your country, so...grain of salt. But this ^^ is correct from what I know. You signed a waiver against side effects, NOT incompetence. This isn't a case of normal Botox doing undesirable Botox things; it's the doctor making an actual, malpractice-able mistake that damaged your person, albeit temporarily, with severe psychological impact. This is not a normal "mistake".
Also, we, as women, have this tendency to want to be "nice" about things. We don't want to be critical or act like we're not understanding and gracious. It's baked into our psyches. Unfortunately, this is working against you here, because you do NOT have to be nice when someone injures you, intentional or not. You don't have to be compassionate to incompetence when you are literally being hurt by it. It's not about being bitchy or not being understanding, it's about being compensated for malpractice that is stealing half a year of your life while you wait for the effects to wear off. (And thank all things holy this was something temporary.)
Again, I don't know how AU law works, but you may be able to find a lawyer who works on contingent. Most personal injury lawyers will take your case and take a percentage of whatever you end up getting in the end. And you need a lawyer here -- they won't let the doctor get away with skirting blame or lowballing you, especially if the lawyer's being paid on your settlement.
Please see a lawyer. This is not something to just brush under the rug.
@deja-lynnwilcox8814 yeah there are so many cases where the big man knows hes big and just have no feelings for the victims and that can be all sexes and in every sector, i would think this case is cut and dried. Just hope she looks in to it even if its just a complaint, 1 can't make a difference but 1 on the many will,.. he clearly doesnt deserve this job. @conifercrow 100% agree. Deli's response is a great representation of how we as women are too timid and scared to speak up in situations like these. It takes a lot of practice. I have full empathy for her. However, his waiver worked how he wanted, as we can see how she and James responded by saying, "but we signed a waiver". That's how they trick you! The fact that the doctor panicked when she said she shows her face for a living tells you he KNOWS he can get sued now. He's a clown. Deli, I beg you. Sue this doctor. Get your compensation. He knows you have a legitimate reason to sue now and that's why he refunded you, knowing that you guys would believe that's the best you could get. But it's not. Please go after him. Please. He's a jerk. I'd call him something else but I'm on my best manners.
Also it’s so concerning that a GP can make a huge mistake like that on BOTH sides of the mouth. Obviously not intentional, but I’d expect a doctor to know where the right muscles are located. We put our trust in them

Tip: Botox gets processed faster by people who workout a lot and have fast metabolisms. I know this because when I was a bodybuilder I had to get my Botox topped up twice as often and my dr. explained it. I’m so sorry you’re going through this. It’s heartbreaking and a hit to the confidence. Hopefully some HIIT can help you burn through it faster ❤️

Also smile muscles are crazy strong and I've found the botox wears off much quicker around the mouth. I get gummy smile botox and I start seeing it wear off visibly around 2 months. Good news for Deli! Bad news for my wallet.
I really want to boost this thread! I think it'll give her some peace, and an outlet in the meantime to make sure she's still getting nice endorphins flowing.
If you're a hardcore grinder it won't last too long. I had a big chat with my dentist and generally when you're grinder the Botox last about half as long as it does in other areas. Fingers crossed it's not too long

I'm a med student and to be honest we're literally told to not admit any mistakes because of law suits issues, it's ridiculous and in my opinion completely opposite to the true purpose of this career, which is to help people and make them feel better, never the opposite
It's so sad that James had to speak up for him to even SLIGHTLY listen 😔. I'm sorry you're having to go through this. I'm not a medical professional by any means, but they make a jaw compression mask that might possibly be able to help with your fear of your muscles having to over compensate while the botox wears off. It couldn't hurt to ask your physician about it ❤. I hope everything from this point on goes a lot smoother 💕 .
I don't know what it's like in Australia, but in the US, you can present this evidence to the licensing board (free of charge) and they'll review the physician's right to practice.

my first thought as well. isn't this malpractice? also in the US, many malpractice lawyers do it for free so it's surprising that australia who probs objectively has a better medical system than us, doesn't have an option for this

If no one else says it to you, I'm so proud that you could be as vulnerable and open about the journey this supposedly minor procedure took you on. The raging fellow aussie mama bear inside me wants to shout "name and shame" but whilst it might not be easy to sue for malpractice in Australia, it's much easier to sue for defamation. You are such a wholesome and dignified example for girls and women. It is also so sweet to see that not only did James go with you, he didn't try to take over or do it for you until you really did need his help. (As a side note.... I, along with most of your subscribers, were shipping you and James long before you guys got together and I'm loving you as a couple).

The doctor was absolutely misogynistic. He only listened a bit when a male told him the same thing you already had! I’m so angry right now!!! What a horr1ble person! I wish you could sue him, he shouldn’t be working with this, especially if the thinks that the face only has one muscle! I’m honestly shocked.

If you have a way to report him in Australia, please do. This is NOT okay. For one, not only did he do this once, but TWICE (on both sides of your face), but he admitted to basically having botched one of his own employees. He also can't own up to his mistakes. It makes total sense that this has effected you psychologically. Not only has this happened outside of your control and as you said it’s “confronting” to see yourself this way, but smiling releases hormones that boost happiness. Also as a speech pathology student, your speech is sounding normal even if it feels different. If you’re worried about muscle compensation in that area it may be worth sticking to softer foods when you can. It’s ok not to feel ok and I hope it resolves soon ❤
Thanks a heap! Yeah I think my brain knowing I can’t “smile” made me very sad, cause I wasn’t getting those happy chemicals associated with smiling like I usually do! Now I’m believing I can smile still anyway and I feel better.
@@DelidiaryI am so sorry you are going through this, and the doctor should never have minimized your concerns. I have TMJ, and for me, muscle tension can cause neck spasms, so when I was first diagnosed before I got therapy, (from a dentist who specializes in oral facial pain) one of the things I practiced was smiling with my eyes and moving the muscles around my eyes without moving my mouth. Which was super helpful for conveying emotion while masking during the pandemic. Fully support you not doing face cam while this is distressing you. Do what brings you peace.
Horrible doctor. Amongst all the rude comments, inability to take responsibility and blatant misogyny he panics at the end because he was afraid of the fallout of a youtuber sending an army of subscribers after him. He only cares about his image, such a textbook negative stereotype of people in that industry. Makes me sad.
I hope he also injected too little or something so your recovery goes quick!
I’m concerned about how not smiling may affect your mental health. Smiling is so important!
My best advice is to sue him for malpractice, emotional distress and loss of income.
A waiver is for the common risks not a huge mistake that should have never happened
I have a history of medical trauma and I understand your feeling of just wanting to move on. It's okay to fight back but it's not a moral obligation to shame him or sue him. You're allowed to just move on and live your life. Doctors can be horrible sometimes, and you get to decide what's the best response for you.
Research has shown that our facial expressions and posture can affect our moods, so even if it didn't change how you look, not being able to smile could have a strong impact on how you feel. I'm glad it's temporary, but I know that 4 to 6 months is a long time to not look like yourself and it could cause a bit of an identity crisis for anyone.
Do what's best for you. You don't have to hide your face, but you can if it makes you feel better. I'll still be watching. ❤
That Dr. was running scared after finding out your job, he realised you could ruin him, but you are the bigger person, you haven't named and shamed him. Keep on doing what you have been doing, we love your videos.

She explained why she can't but she should honestly talk to a lawyer. I'm sure that, like the US, she can find one that'll give advice for free or a very small fee. Trust me, if they can make money, they'll take the case on no matter what she signed. And those sorts of lawyers here in the states? They don't charge you until you win your case and then they take it out of your winnings.

@@oki__ All doctors, nurses etc.. take an oath.. First Do No Harm. The simple fact that he has done this before, even to his own nurses and caused damage. One of these days the damage will be permanent. He is causing physical and psychological harm to his patients,and truly not caring at all, or taking responsibility for what he has done. That is Malpractice, and he should have his license revoked and banned from practicing medicine. He is only in it for the money, not to help or heal people.
Deli, I’ve been a silent viewer for years. I rarely comment on videos but I just felt I had to say this. You are so valid in the way you are feeling and I just want you to know that you’re a beautiful person, inside and out, and this procedure hasn’t changed that. It’s so unfortunate the way the doctor responded to this and I’m grateful James was with you as support. I’m sure once he realized you had 1mil followers, he very quickly realized you had the power to destroy his career if you named him or the practice publicly. Not that you ever would because you are a genuinely good soul. The “1 week later” section of the video, I could already see a big difference in the movement of your face and you looked much more like yourself again. You’ll get through this. Completely agree with everything you said here. I did see a big difference in the second section of the video too, the smile was already much more visible! :) Btw - I had Botox for masseter a few years ago, for similar reasons (jaw clenching, migraine) and also had the dragging sensation. I guess this is a normal effect of the Botox, in my case luckily it was injected properly, but I still didn't like the feeling and it seemed a bit like my face was pulled down. That's why I didn't get it again. Anyway - the Botox will wear off, in 3-4 months time you will be and look like your old self Deli, I am sure! Please don't feel bad about yourself, it actually isn't that noticeable, and from my pov it has already improved. You are still beautiful both inside and out, no matter what :)
That doctor definitely knew he messed up. I’m so glad you had James with you because like he said you could have done it yourself but it would have probably been very draining and traumatic to deal with that guy without some support.
I'm so sorry this happened to you Deli! I know what it feels like to be gaslit by a doctor you're supposed to trust, and it ended with me almost becoming paralyzed from a doctor telling me there was nothing to worry about and shrugging off what I was telling him felt wrong. The mental trauma you're experiencing can't be minimized, but I hope you know you have people in your corner who support you 100% on here. nah not of being sued per se cause she did sign that waiver but he's terrified because she has a large following that she can put his business on blast and HE cant sue her for defamation because shes not wrong.

Don't know about Australia, but in some corners of the world acknowledging a mistake and apologising can be interpreted as a sort of confession and lead to a malpractice lawsuit. Of course she signed a waiver, but there are always ways around it.

I'm not surprised by the doctors reaction. A full on apology is an admission of fault and he was trying to avoid being sued. I've been in that situation. I'm a paraplegic and an occupational therapist ordered the wrong size wheelchair tyres. I was talked into just accepting them "because they aren't that much different"...and then I had a fall and now have a permanent injury on top of my disability. I never got an apology, $900 out of pocket to get the correct tyres and I ended up leaving the NDIS because of it.
I’m very sorry to hear situation :( I think due to there being a waiver there is no risk for him being sued and it was more of an ego thing.
@@Delidiaryyes probably my aesthetician didn’t seem fussed at all, which is ego mostly and she just said it’ll wear off. That Botox doesn’t last six months - mine returned within 2/3 months,
@@Delidiary Hi Deli, I'm a lawyer here in Melbourne, this isn't my area of expertise BUT just because you signed a waiver doesn't mean it will be enforceable. There are a lot of factors that can effect enforceability. If you wanted to, I would go and speak to a lawyer about it. If the doctor acted negligently, that waiver means nothing.

Seems like he was scared to admit guilt for legal reasons, despite the waiver. Then when he told him what you do for a living maybe he kicked you out because he was worried that you’d been recording or somehow filming the whole thing and would show it to all your followers.

The doctor was absolutely unprofessional. I don't like that you can't sue him. I hope you don't ever go back to him. Good job, James, for backing up Deli. Deli, I'm so sorry that the doctor didn't even have the common decency to apologize or to listen to you.
The best thing I ever did for my own teeth grinding and clenching, resulting in my own cracked teeth, was getting an occlusal splint. I also worked as a dental assistant for 4 years, so I knew what would be best. The dentist I worked for always left botox as the very last resort, when nothing else would work, and patients were in too much pain to even function in their daily lives. Once your botox wears off, try an occlusal splint if you can, or if you haven't already. Life saver for me :)

While you may not want to sue, I do definitely think you should expose him for his misogyny and the way he treated you - I DON'T think he's a decent person, I think he gaslit you and treated you very poorly.

Hey, Deli. I bet most of us wouldn't notice! You're right. We do tend to notice on ourselves more. I was born with a jaw deformity and it's extremely obvious to me, but almost no one notices. They just think I have a cute lisp and a cute crooked smile, not knowing how bad it is. You're still YOU and still gorgeous. Take care of yourself!

I really appreciate your sense of justice when you say, to paraphrase, "just because someone fucked up and it hurt me, doesn't mean I need to retaliate by making them hurt". Obviously you deserve reparation/compensation, but SO many people don't understand this justice thing, which is the basis of terribly punitive justice systems that we have all over the world. Deli dear, You can absolutely sue him. For negligence, if he is a doctor + who also teaches that to others + Showed you a picture of the human faces muscles, and don't "know" what muscles there is in the face that he supposedly mastered - You have a reason to sue, and also, he absolutely gaslighted you and James and tried to get away with it. the reason he immediately told you both to go and gave you a refund as soon as you mentioned your Million subs, is because he know that if the word get's out - he is done. I’m a plaintiffs ‘ trial lawyer - I sue. In the U.S. the costs of a med mal case are about a 1/2M to a million dollars -meaning the case would have to be worth a lot more. The value is based on permanent injury correlating to pain and suffering. While disgusting that there is no recourse for what happened to Deli (though her case has more value bc of her work), the value would roughly be her lost income times about 3. In other words the cost to bring a suit is not economically viable. // It is why I, in another comment, suggested filing a complaint with the medical licensing board (or appropriate authority in Australia). This guy and his attitude need to be to be stopped.
Yes, exactly that's why he gave the refund when he found out how popular she is here! Plus he probably realized that she COULD have people following her that are lawyers and would take her case on for nothing!
I'm so sorry this happened to you. Mistakes can and do happen in medicine, but his behaviour is atrocious. I work in medical law in Australia and you should definitely keep getting legal advice in the back of your mind if things don't improve the way you expect or you're feeling worse as time goes on. In the meantime, it would definitely be worth submitting a complaint to AHPRA because his reaction to your concerns was abhorrent. Sending love and healing vibes your way xx

Oh, Deli... I feel for you. I've had an autoimmune disease for 25 years and had a few crappy doctors. It's always been hard to advocate for myself. They've made me feel like the little 'hysterical' woman. My husband never went with me to confront the doctors so I give James a lot of credit for being a good Deli supporter.
You are so very lovely and I have always loved your storytelling. It really is a gift. Stream in whatever way is comfortable for you and we will all still love you from afar!
I hope you report him to whatever board there is in AU, as well as leaving a negative review online. Others deserve to know he has pending complaints, both about the mistake and his awful awful attitude (yeah being a jerk isn't illegal, but again, people should know). Also, since he tried to brag about his "influencer" employee's numbers, I am glad you flashed your numbers, just to make a point. I hope you fully recover faster than expected, and that there is some other option for the jaw/teeth clenching issue!

Aw Deli, I'm sorry! Time flies; it'll go faster than you realize. Botox also is meant to last "many months!" but everyone is different. My Botox was almost completely gone is less than 2 months the first (and only) time I got it. Continue smiling, gal!
Mine too. It was almost gone after 2 months. It strengthened by the 2 week mark, then stayed at that level for 2 weeks then hopefully it will slowly start to soften and wear off. And I wouldn’t Rory about permanent damage. It would take linger than 2 to 3 months for that. Sending love! ❤❤❤
also, it wears off faster in high movement areas, I believe it will be gone way faster than the expected.
Does it actually “wear off”, or does it just spread out underneath your skin? I’ve heard it’s the latter.

Botox is metabolized (processed by the body and removed), it's a chemical injected into the muscle that basically "paralyzes" It for a period of time.
Filler (Juviderm, Restylane) is also metabolized BUT not entirely. It's common that it will spread out over time. Too much filler? Too much migration.
Fillers like silicone (which isn't FDA approved) are notorious for migrating.

I love how he tried to kind of belittle your job. Girl in his office has 50,000 followers on instagram, well good her her. And she is fine. You and an internationally known TH-cam personality. You use your face and smile in your work.
I had a similar experience with Bell's Palsy, where in the span of a few hours, the whole half of my face suddenly paralyzed and I couldn't move any muscles on the right side of my face anymore. It's extremely scary when you don't see the face you have seen for years in a mirror, and can no longer make movements that felt so natural to you before. It has nothing to do with vanity, or pride. It's a feeling of losing part of you.. Many people have no idea how extremely stressful that is.
I'm glad you are taking the time to process this, take care of yourself! I'm not saying it will happen soon, but there will be moments in the future where suddenly you see improvements again. For me, my face started 'opening up' again after a few weeks, and it was moments like being able to chew on that side again, or drink from a straw.. When I could whistle again, I cried.
I'm back at 90% of my former movements on that side again, and now I can kinda joke about it having just a new, little bit lopsided grin.

It is SO important to advocate for yourself. My mom had thyroid cancer, and she kept being told it was cat scratch fever. Or just some inflammation. It was cancer. She finally found someone who was a personal friend to do a biopsy, and she lost her thryoid, 14 lymph nodes, and 6 radiation treatments.
They told me there was nothing wrong with me because they checked for gallstones and other things, but it turned out my galbladder was DYING. It stopped working nad was gangrening inside me. It was an emergency surgery. I could've gone septic. I was in the hospital for 3 days for what's normally an outpatient proceedure.
ALWAYS ADVOCATE FOR YOURSELF!

my friends dad has/had lymes disease and the doctors kept saying he looked fine until he had a seizure and was internally bleeding on the floor. he is doing a lot better now but my friend at the time was 15 and found him like that. :(

Also, when I went to art school, I had to study the muscles of the face. There most definitely is more than one in the lower half in the face.

So sorry you're having to go through this, any big change on your face is very difficult to go through especially when your job is on camera. You still look beautiful but do what you need to do to feel comfortable we'll love your videos no matter what. Hoping it wears off quickly for you just so you can feel more at peace. That doctor seemed very gaslighty, didn't want to admit he'd done something wrong because he's worried you would end up taking it further.

Wow, not only is it so distressing to deal with a botched procedure, but to be treated how you were afterwards, I don't believe the "doctor" should be working in that field anymore. Not because of the mistake but because he couldn't even identify it was a mistake, or refused to. That's the scary thing. He treated you utterly poorly, to add insult to injury, and you have been so gracious about it. I'm so glad you had the care and support of James.

Girlfriend you are always beautiful! I got Botox around my eyes a few months ago and they got too close to my left eye- it was horrible and even caused vision issues and dizzy spells - I understand what you are going through love! I couldn’t drive, walking my dog was hard, so not fun but I am back to normal now. Big hugs!

I had Bell's palsy last summer and half of my face was paralysed. Even though I was properly treated and assured it will go away (and it did, a bit over a month later), it was sooo tough to look at my own reflection and see 'myself', if it makes sense? so I totally understand what you must be going through ❤️ Stay strong and don't lose hope. I had bells palsy also, back in 98, a week after I had a baby. Took 9 months before I could close my right eye and smile, 26 yrs later and my eye still droops a bit and my smile too only when I'm really tired tho.
I woke up with Bell’s one Sunday morning as a 15yo. That initial “OMG, I’ve had a stoke!” panic is awful. But it does give proof of concept for Deli that good physiotherapy can get things as back to how they were as possible.
I think it's great that you brought James with you as those types of situations are difficult when you also deal with anxiety. I agree that the doctor's attitude sounds very misogynistic though which is so frustrating that this still happens. I go to a male psychiatrist who told me I couldn't have ADHD when I first brought it up, because it would have been diagnosed in childhood and then later confirmed he had infact diagnosed it, but only after I asked my female psychologist to write to him. You did the right thing going back and standing up for yourself. It's definitely a tough thing you're going through but you got this!!

So sorry you went through this. His reaction made me rage and think that’s reason enough to take it further if you want to. Don’t be too concerned about the waiver, they have limits. You may have access to initial free consult or a lawyer on contingency.

If its an option in Australia I would leave a google review or the equivalent. It can inform others of what happened and help them be aware of this issue. And also tell your dentist to never refer anyone there again.
Important to advocate for yourself. Educate yourself. Doctors do not know everything. This advice is especially true for women. Most medical studies involve men and they just apply it to women. You've learned a valuable lesson. I'm very sorry you had to go through this, just the emotional strain alone is hard enough. I'm glad you're able to see the humor as well. It'll get better!
The emotional and psychological effects are so real and valid..When I was 21 I had Bells Palsey which caused the entire side of my face to go slack. When I smiled it looked like I was smirking meanly at people. At the time I was waiting tables, so my tips took a massive dive because all of my customers thought I was being a jerk. It took about a month and a half to fully recover and I can still remember exactly how hard that time was.

Being upset and feeling the way you feel is totally valid, I think all of us would feel the same. I will say that people who don't know you or your smile probably won't notice anything. I have friends who have downward smiles and even Khloe K has it, so if I didn't know your usual expressions, I wouldn't think anything of it 100%! But still, hope it doesn't get worse and starts wearing off in record time ❤

Aw Deli! I'm almost in tears for you! It reeeeally sucks that you've experienced this and I can't help but think that you might not have got a refund if James didn't come with you. There have been a few times where I've felt my male GP (general practitioner) hasn't listened to me, therefore gas lighting me into thinking I'm at fault when I'm actually in immense pain or discomfort. It's so common for male doctors to act this way towards women because they assume we'll just accept their mistakes and misdiagnoses with a pinch of salt - as if it's not an important health concern! Or they do so with the idea in mind that we're weak and so won't stand up for ourselves. There's also suuuch little research about women's health, it's horrific.

I have the same problem as you; I clench my teeth so hard at night that I have cracked my teeth as well. I've thought about getting Botox in those muscles, but haven't done it. I'm SO sorry that this happened to you Deli. It would absolutely devastate anyone physically and mentally.
