    YAY! Everytime the FPP posts a video about loading an old 8mm or 16mm movie camera -- I jump for joy because I get to her John's famous "PRESSURE"!!!!!!

    Thank you. I thought my camera was broken until you said it was a wind up. 😅

    Back when commercials were entertaining and enjoyable to watch and listen to, in sharp contrast to today. Another winner, FPP!

    Just came into possession of a Brownie (I think it's a model I), and it has the names of my great-grandparents on it. It's a nice piece of both camera history and family history!

    Do you have any tips for when your first roll is finished, and it’s time to swap to another roll while outside?
    I plan to film a lot in nature so I’m a little worried I will destroy both films during the swapping process
    THANK YOU for all you do and these amazing videos!!

      Pick up a "black cloth" (the type that large format film photographers use) and pull it over you and your camera to change your roll. It won't be light tight but will be dim enough. - Mike

    Hi, thank you for this tutorial! When looking through the view finder do you generally want to stay within the yellow region or can you go as big as the red without having any of your image cut off?

    I’m a bit confused, when you flip the film to side 2 and it gets exposed to light does it get ruined?

    • @FilmPhotographyProject
      @FilmPhotographyProject  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The film is on a "daylight spool" - flip in dim light and the film is protected.

    So--roughly 30 seconds of filming per winding? Is this generally consistent for all key-wound 8mm cameras?

    My grandfather left me the family *Kodak 8mm Brownie Movie Camera II 13mm F/2.3 )* along with their other past camera as my part of the inheritance. I am the photographer in the family, so it means a lot ❤ I have been looking where to buy color film because I definitely want to put it to use.

    So for the counter that counts the feet, would you reset it to 25 when you put in a new spool/flipping to the other side?

    I recently came into possession of my families old Brownie II Movie Camera. I believe there is still film in it, is this film no longer able to be developed anywhere? I don’t want to open the compartment and ruin any film if it still can be processed.

    • @FilmPhotographyProject
      @FilmPhotographyProject  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Watch the video on how to handle the film. The film is vintage Kodachrome and can no longer be developed as color. You can contact Spectra Film & Video CA regarding processing and scanning.

    My son's friend just gave him one of these cameras, There is film in it already, he opened it so that film is ruined? And from your explanation, it is on the second side already. Not sure where the friend got it but it was a present to my kid. Is the Cine8 the only film that can be used in these or just the one that is highly recommended? It runs, would it be beneficial to have it looked at to see if it works? Thanks!

      The film in the camera is vintage Kodachrome which can no longer be developed in color. Best to use that roll to test the camera. The Brownie takes Double 8 film (branded Cine8 at the FPP). BW is the least expensive option - filmphotographystore.com/collections/movie-film/products/double-8-film-bundle-film-develop-scan-25-ft?variant=41620322844846

    Can you cover the Kodak brownie turret movie camera? It’s basically this camera but with a turret lens. It’s one of my favourite movie cameras :)

    What's the difference between the Model 2 and the original. My Brownie looks almost identical to yours but it doesn't day Model 2 on it. Thank you

      Some lenses are f2.3 while other models are f1.9. Otherwise, cameras are very similar.
