His father was a sexual sadist, and the apple didn't fall far from the tree. David Parker Ray's crimes are the stuff of nightmares.

I don't believe you can attribute someone becoming like Parker Ray solely based on genetics. From what I've heard it's a combination of nature and nurture. Nature vs nurture is a false dichotomy. And that makes sense to me. If you're born with genetics that might predispose you to become a monster like Parker Ray, yet there is nothing in your environment that this predisposition might act on, it will have very little consequences. It's all about survival and thriving in your given environment. Genetics is just a configuration. Some configurations are helpful in order to survive your particular environment, and some are not.

There's a whole recording of someone reading the transcript of that tape on TH-cam. It's pretty awful. I got most of the way through it, but I didn't get much past the dogs bit. It's a lot. Like, take what you know about this case, assume it's much, much worse than what you think, and it's still WAYYYY worse. He alleges that there were police officers involved, which I think may be true.
Also, I know you didn't touch on the individual cases, but one woman was taken, abused, drugged, released after I don't remember if it was a weekend or a week or two. She went home. I don't remember if she was the one who called the police, but she was the one who identified herself from video clips law enforcement was showing on TV trying to identify more unnamed victims because of her tattoo. She had in the years following her ordeal convinced herself it hadn't happened despite the obvious long-lasting PTSD symptoms. On top of all that trauma (including the police report, let me tell you from experience that's a nightmare itself when you're reporting a "simple" rape, especially when you know it's not likely to come to anything--I was told that directly by the officers--which is why many don't even bother) when she got back home her boyfriend didn't believe her, accused her of cheating on him and broke up with her. A real keeper, that one.
"Please call the police, honey, I'm so glad to be home, so glad to be alive! I was drugged, kidnapped, raped, and tortured for the time I've been gone, I only remember it in nightmare flashes but am obviously physically injured and I definitely remember enough to validate my story!" "I don't believe you, I think you invented this awful story to cover up going out cheating, because all this is about ME."
Yeah. Real great guy. REAL great.

Good Morning. I give the history around the time the person was born to give listeners an idea of what the parents might have been living through as possible stressors or what external environment they were exposed to in their very early life.
