1:08 "But to be honest, I didn't think it would happen so quickly. I mean, when was that? A week ago Wednesday?" Probably my favourite Justified quote.
The problem with Dickie is that he thought he was more than he was. He thought he was a shot-caller in his family, he thought he was a tough guy, but when someone with any real strength came into the room, he folded like a bad poker hand. And any time he get what was coming to him, or almost got what was coming to him, he turned into a whiny, pathetic little creature. Hats off to the actor who played him, because he was GOOD at it, and playing a character like that must not have been easy to do.
It's little details like Dickie saying "fingers and toes." So many shows are perfunctory in scenes like this. Here you have an unbroken 40 second shot that does a 180 around the car with dialogue that feels individual to the characters. And 90 seconds later when Dickie is stammering about how "he pretty much put himself in there of his own doing" he's actually telling the truth! We saw it unfold like that - Dickie was polite and didn't even have to yell or point the gun. There's just such rich visual storytelling that complements the dialogue. I'm finding that level of craft missing from a lot of shows on TV/Netflix these days.
Dickie isn't in the same county, or even state, as Boyd. Real stretch of the imagination to think Dickie is even close. His voice is a little similar, that's about it. Vocabulary, wit, calm, awareness--nah, Dickie's a dumbshit.
BB is an incredible show. But a very different show. Justified is also incredible, just in a different way. And, to be honest, I think BCS is better than BB...and I would watch Justified over either of them.

Jeez, almost like raylan said that in the scene. With 1/10th of the words.
Jeremy Davies, who also played the clerk/interpreter in "Saving Private Ryan" who is drafted by Tom Hanks into combat.
You can tell your night ain't going to be great when someone flips a switch and has a gun pointing at you.
God damn this shows writing is fucking aces. FINE. Ill watch it again :(
It’s what sets great shows apart. If Yellowstone had Justified’s writers, it would be watchable.

Dickie and Raylan scenes are always some of the best. I'd put it up there as a close runner-up to Boyd and Raylan interacting.

Dickie is Upham from Saving Pvt Ryan.
Holy crap, it is.
Anybody remember, did Dickie die in this scene? I know he probably wished he had...
No, he did not.
Breaking Bad when you order the show on wish
Way better than breaking bad.
Breaking bad is just overrated
