    I just learned how to use this lift at work I was playing around with a fidget spinner drone and got it stuck like 20 feet on a beam, thanks for explaining how to operate it, it was surprisingly easy 👌

    It is very important that you perform all of the functions test for the Skyjack Scissor lift because one of the checks involves disengaging the brakes and then reengaging the brakes. If you don't do the function test the brakes may be disengaged before you start operating the lift and if you are on a level surface it may give a false indication that the brakes are working but once you are elevated it might take off rolling on you and there is nothing you can do but hold on and pray.

    Great video! Thank you. I'm hoping some here can help! I have a Genie GS3232. Whenever I move full throttle forward, the lift automatically turns to the right. If I throttle slowly it goes straight as intended. Anyone else ever have this issue? Thanks in advance.

    do not physically touch hydraulic lines and fittings during any part of the inspection as this poses a pressure injection hazard to the individual.

    I was using a genie lift one time and I was probably about 20ish feet in the air when it decided not to lower itself. Every other function of the lift worked except going down. Also the controls/emergency release on the bottom of the lift wouldn’t work either. Someone had to grab me a ladder and the lift stayed in the air until a maintenance tech could come out...

    • @abdulqawiy3592

    He mentioned the level sensor, but did not mention the swing arms that deploy when the lift is raised. If you look at the 3:17 mark and watch the very bottom of the lift you see a swing arm come out from under the lift, that's a very important safety feature as well, if that swing arm is blocked by a rock or speed bump the lift will rise ~12 " and then stop. Those swing arms help prevent the lift from tipping over that's what their for but he didn't even mention them. I don't know exactly what they're called but they're kind of like out riggers they help stabilize the lift.

    • @SoupLegion
      @SoupLegion 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was surprised that the up-down didn't even work until the outriggers were set down, even on a level, indoor surface. but glad I watched the video.

      See I’ve been using one the last week and working about 35-40 feet high. Every time you would go up, it would stop at about 12-15 foot. Was concerned so asked the lead man what it was doing. “It stops because the speed changes.”
      Now I know why it was actually stopping… Fucker was swaying all over the place.

    As far as batteries the rental company should be checking that as the renter you should be able to use it with no issues. But always do the normal inspection for safety issues before using it.

      That's not what i'm asking. I use it daily to do commercial electrical work in large chain grocery stores where it gets packed with customers. Some store managers don't like it, and I've even had a customer complain to the store manager that I shouldn't be using it if I don't have a spotter due to "osha" rules. I don't believe him, pretty sure he just wanted to complain but I want to be sure that I can use one by myself without getting me or my company fined.

    Good video but I was concerned that you did not use any PPE (gloves, safety glasses, fall protection, etc.) when touching the batteries and that you did not drop the safety arm when you reached under the raised platform. These are "little" things to an experienced service technician but they are the things that will get newbies injured or even killed.

    • @rsoul7282
      @rsoul7282 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Why would you wear fall protection when checking the batteries numb nuts, do you do it suspended from the platform or something? Much easier to do it on the ground.

    • @keneofugotti4957
      @keneofugotti4957 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@rsoul7282 Charles actually had great point but typed it incorrectly. Use gloves and safety glasses with the batteries and a safety harness getting on the lift. You must have a safety harness on when operating one of these scissor lifts. I don't know why this instructor didn't mention a safety harness..You might possibly be required to wear a hard hat also.. I remember taking a class years ago but can't remember every detail. And to actually refer to somebody that's concerned about using equipment safely as NUMB NUTS is belittling to your own character..

    • @rsoul7282
      @rsoul7282 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Keneo Fugotti my friend, wearing a harness is absolutely not a requirement when operating a scissor, if you were to fall out of one while wearing a harness in all likelihood you would be killed by smashing into the scissor stack or pull the machine over if you are high enough. The only time you would consider wearing one is if short sighted safety policy at a workplace requests one. Apologies for my previous harsh language.
