Cry of Fear means a lot for me. This is quite a unique game and during my life CoF often pops up in my mind, mostly during evening and nighttime. I am fully confident that most of Half-Life games (and even popular mods like CoF) are truly masterpieces in terms of art, aestetic, gameplay and else. I remember this mod came out, it was popular like Slenderman games and there were so many let's plays on TH-cam. I am fan of Valve games and Half Life series and mods, but CoF had great success as I've seen people not familiar with Valve and Half Life talking about CoF.
Like Half Life 2 with its aestetic, Cry of Fear was alway some kind of personal piece of art, especially for its atmosphere and music. Music is my main interest in life for many years, I hardly listen to music I used to since my taste grew up with me. And I am very surprised at moments when music from old games I liked to listen separately give me chills (now also with a doze of nostalgic memories).
Most of CoF soundtrack calms me as I feel right listening to it. I decided to write this comment because I wanted to share my emotional experience. In comment sections to videos like this there are always people who also find this personally satisfiing

My favourite psychological horror game for all time. It may not have the best graphics , but the characters (Simon, Doc Purnell, Sophie, those creatures, that try to murder you ), the background story of CoF , Simons head ( the madness, anger, hatred, panic attacks and so on..) , the sound , the atmosphere and dynamic of the game are just fulminant and deliver us a perfect way of playing a sick , young man, who is paralyzed and doesn´t know what to do with his life after this life-changing incident. Well..we could be in the same situation like Simon..paralyzed, depressed and full of negative emotions and memories..what a life. I admire him for his path , what a man. A game, where we all feel connected and deep. Thanks Team Psykskallar. What a masterpiece..

By far, one of the best eerie soundtrack I've heard ever. This is something you would imagine a nightmare with only this being the only thing you can hear.
try out The Forest main menu theme. It's cool too.
Darkwood's main menu theme is amazing. I also recommend you play Darkwood. A truly terrifying yet satisfying experience.

@@Janfon1 I do very much agree with ya. Though I would say, For Horror/Creepypasta/survival horror, Cry of Fear gets the spot. For depicting the horror of wars, World at War is at the top.
what a sound to hear, cry of fear honestly gives out a meaningful message about isolation and loneliness and it's atmosphere is so depressing, i love the game so much, hopefully gonna do a playthrough on it very soon even though i'm late to the party aha xD
"Cry of Fear" is just not another survival horror game, it is a study of a deep depression and it has a social message, which is very rare nowadays in modern video games. The plot of the game shows really dark scenarios about what might happen, when person affected by this illness is not having proper support. I wrote about social message, because it has two sides: first - disabled persons need to have proper support, so they won't feel alone or rejected by the society and second - those persons need to show, that they want such help.
For me personally this game is a masterpiece and I don't care, that it borrows lot of elements from "Silent Hill" series for example. "Cry of Fear" truly moved me and I am very grateful to Team Psykskallar, that I had a chance to play this game.
Cry of Fear, a experience to be reminded. I've heard of this game many years ago, but I didn't had the guts to play it.
But, last year & this one in particular, I've been going thru a lot. So much so that I desperately searched a way to trigger a new kind of a emotion.
One that would even creep me out. Just to feel something. I was ready to take that risk, but to my surprise the game wasn't that horrible.
But little did I knew, the effects it possessed were very impactful, in the psychological direction.
It made me realize how much I resembled with Simon. Restless nights all by myself, thinking and judging my past.
Every dark thought I had was a distraction from reality. One that I couldn't simply just make it disappear.
Sometimes, you need to swim even through the deepest parts of your soul to reach inner peace.
Those eyes are like the Abyss. if you stare at them long enough, they'll stare back into you.

I love the feeling that this soundtrack gives me, its like a feeling of nostalgia, time holding, calm vibe to it. I remember playing Cry Of Fear like not too long ago (want to say maybe a year almost) I would stay on the main menu a little and just imagine and think about my past, and even how Simon feels. Not a depressed person but I understand what he goes through playing the game.
This music give me a strange feeling. It's like going into a dark cave that we've never explored

This game… really scared the hell out of me. Not really from the shock factor stuff, though there is some of it. That emptiness, yet feeling unsafe, the anxiety, it really was nauseating. First game to do that to me. My own fears make me think of Simon’s world.
Completely agree, this has been the only game to really make me feel uncomfortable to my core and deeply scare me, even after my first playthrough. Not even the OG silent hill 2 did that to me. There’s something very raw about this game

Fun fact: in some old versions of cry of fear you can hear the scream of a slower, but this is impossible, because it only happend when you play the game for more than 10 hours

I'm in a very strange period of my life.Just another comment, on something, that seems to be just ambient for just ordinary horror game, but for me, for others like me, there is something so familiar within ourselves, presented in this song.Life changing experience

@@Torun7199 I look at it differently, I feel lonely. The melancholic melody, along with the guitar strings, brings loneliness and the feeling of being alone.
When I go for walk, mostly it's dark, I'm just listening to this music and pretend I'm the only one in the world.
Also, I get calm and relaxed when I hear this kind of music 😌

I distinctly recall feeling too unnerved by this music in the menu to even launch the game itself. I had the same experience with the main menu of Amnesia: The Dark Descent.

The game wasn't the best, but certainly far from bad. I did quite enjoy the soundtrack.
8 hour ago i am happy. But now i feel weird. It's not just a game. The story made me dead. But if i thinking happy things like cats, family, childhood... childhood. I am 4 years old and i'm playing Ultimate Doom. Oh no dead bunny. This is a evil's cricle. But i fight for better life: helping others, love family, love life.
