The thing I don’t like about mine is how short the gearing is. Once I’ve finished college I’ll start commuting and I’m not looking forward to the fuel cost.
Greetings from South Africa. From a daily driving point of view the stock exhaust on the 1.6l petrol models sound a lot better than the stock exhaust on the 1.25l and 1.4l Fiestas because although it sounds a bit too throaty to me, overall, they give off a nice deep hum while the 1.25l and 1.4l exhaust systems sound almost like quietened down versions of performance systems.
I've had my 2006 1.25 for 14 years admittedly only done about 35k miles but it's fast enough and like you say nimble. I've got 15" alloys on mine and duel exhaust sounds amazing and is nippy
The Mk6 breaking spring seemed to be a common issue. I owned three cars, 'S', 'ST' and 'Silver' and all experienced at least one spring breaking. Kept my Sport for 6 years, the ST just over one year, fun but the list of issues kept getting longer.
So basic zetec models all have the same springs, the zetec s petrol has lower and stiffer springs than those and the zetec s diesel has stiffer front springs cause the engine is heavier. The ST has different suspension from them all because the duratech is a hefty piece. The ride in the zetec s is fantastic compared to an ST though
Yeh great first car make sure you check the rear arches for rust as the earlier versions can have the onset of the sill corrosion. Not much goes wrong, abs sensor £15, fan resistor pack £10, coolant bottle cracking £20... Lots of fun and handling for cheap....
The quality and appearance of the plastic of the door handles and the door protectors is unfortunate, I had to paint mine, otherwise it is a fun car to drive with decent performance ... but it swallows the gasoline
I own one and had it now for 5 years , and still loving it , parts are easy to get and cheap too
Bought mine 2 weeks ago. In black too. Such a joy to drive. 06 plate on 80k Miles and is immaculate inside and nearly on the out 😂. I love it though

You dont change one spring always do both sides same for wheel bearings

Isit about the same speed as a 1.6 vtec ep2 same for handling?
