I'm guessing you've, only, seen the old translation from the 90s. In Japan, in the newer translation, and in Crystal, her name is "Usagi", which translates to "Bunny" in English. However, I like the idea of calling her Usagi the Moon Witch.
I've loved Sailor Moon since I first saw the first episode, back in the 90s.

About what?
Azula looks amazing. Like a burst of flames appeared out of nowhere and she’s emerging from them. I almost feel a little sad for Azula because she went insane when she could just see the error of sins and redeem herself. She could’ve been with her brother, she would have her friends back, and maybe she could’ve found love. But alas, she fell into the abyss of insanity. I still she looks awesome though.
Sailor Moon looks super kawaii. I don’t know wether to kiss her hand or her boot. Overall I love this video and I can’t wait for the next one.
Oh and one more thing, keep up the good work on expanding your multiverse.
Did you know that they had planned at least one more season and she was going to be redeemed so she would be a good earth person but they decided that they wanted to focus on the live action video so they had to completely cancel it

It makes a lot of sense to have Sailor Moon as a witch.

Both are amazing! The 4 candles could mean the four bending arts. Maybe Azula y burning the connection to those arts to be the only bender in the world. A dark hex! Moon is a classic! The moon is inspiration for many healing charms! Maybe you could draw princess toadstol as a witch :)

Both Azula and Serena aka Sailor Moon came out looking bewitching in your reinvisioning of them as witches Mei Yu. While typically witches get the spotlight in the witchcraft arena there are male counterparts to witches known as warlocks. They're showcased much less as witches are but they're equally as powerful if not more at times than witches. Perhaps you could do a reinvisioning of two opposite gender couples as a witch and warlock couple Mei Yu. Another type of challenge you may like to take stab at might be human characters as animal-morphic versions of themselves. Basically taking a human character and fusing them with an animal to make an animalistic humanoid hybrid. I'd suggest picking an animal that best matches the character's looks and personality reflecting both of them. Just a passing thought Mei Yu. A splendid famous princesses as witches challenge Mei Yu as always.
Warlocks being male witches...well, I guess it depends on the lore you're going with. I kind of write warlocks similarly to the way D&D portrays them, a magic user that makes contracts with otherworldly beings. They are tragically underused, though.
@@hithere911 Well I'm familiar pardon the pun with that view of warlocks. I was looking at it from the perspective of the television show Bewitched where male witches were nomenclatured as warlocks.

Before I move on to theories on how these witches came to be, I have ideas for a potential turn [fill in the blank] into witches. First of all, we already know and love her, and she's already a witch, but I think you could push the envelope a little further with a witch design. Try and recreate a new witch design for the Cosmic Witch from Mario, Rosalina (and maybe other witches that don't quite have that witch-like aesthetic. Also, it would be awesome if you pulled something out of the FNDM (RWBY fandom), possibilities are boundless in that series for artistic liberties as well.
And now, the theories on these witches.
(I only have Azula because I still know next to nothing about Sailor Moon. Sorry.)
Azula (the scourge): Many years ago, the world was segregated into four nations, each with their own covenant of mages. These mages each would control one of the four elements of creation. Among the two poles, we see the hydromancers, with the ability to manipulate the flow, structure, and purity of water. Hydromancers that master the art of purification can use this water to heal any wound or potentially raise the dead. Terramancers can change the integrity and form of stone and the earth around them, with some that can even melt it down, turning it into lava. They can be seen throughout the mainland, with several sects being isolated from the rest of the world with the largest and strongest sect being in the city of Ba Sing Se. Aeromancers travel throughout the land from the highest mountains to the deepest valleys, during frigid cold days, blistering hot days, and all else between. The aeromancers usually keep their true homes in temples among both the mainland and a small archipelago to the southeast, using ships and gliders and their knowledge of aerial magic to guide them. And finally, with a small island nation to the west, there are the pyromancers. The pyromancers, for almost a century, have been the most feared among all the mages. They can create and control fire, and much like the hydromancers, who gain more power from the moon, the most of which when it's full, the pyromancers gain more power from the sun, and the most at noon. Among these covenants, only one individual can be called in a cycle to master spells from all four elements, dubbed the Creator, and when one Creator dies, a new one is reborn throughout the cycle of creation. Lord Sozun of the pyromancers saw this as a threat amongst the small nation of pyromancers, so, when the previous Creator died, his childhood friend, Roku, he sent his troops of pyromancers to find and kill all the aeromancers until they were all extinct. Little was known that the new Creator has escaped, and he would become their greatest adversary. During this century, there was a war among the three remaining nations, with the hydromancers and terramacers fighting against the pyromancer forces, with many lives taken. The princess to the throne, Princess Azula knew exactly what she needed to do to ensure the victory for her father's nation, for though she and her father, Lord Ozai, were talented pyromancers, they also shared that same thirst for power, to the point where they have gone drunk with it.

@@Shy_Lonely_Raven Thank you, because that took a long time to write and I had to make it sound like I wasn't just copying Avatar to the letter. Even there, I don't think I did a great job in making it sound original while still showing that Princess Azula and Fire Lord Ozai were in fact drunk with power.

Sailor Moon’s was just so magical and Azula’s definitely puts the Wicked in Wicked Witch, plus her design was my favourite (there’s just something about black and red just working so well together with hints of orange and yellow). Sailor Moon is such an ironic character, it's amazing how many "Magical Girl" anime that are takeoffs of her and the show.
I have no idea who the first one in this video was until you mentioned Avatar, the Last Airbender. Since I've never seen the show, I can't, really, comment on her.
For the next one of these, maybe you should do Odette from Swan Lake, Anastasia, or Thumbelina. I'm not, entirely, sure how you'd indicate that is, as Hans Christian Anderson described her, no bigger than your thumb. Good luck with that.

The Sailor Moon witch artwork looks stunning, especially the skirt, both in how it flows and how the colours give it shine and volume.
These videos are really inspiring me to work on my colouring skills: I'm not bad at drawing the lines of figures, but then the colouring is still often a phase in which I'm more concerned with not ruining the artwork rather than elevating it. I notice I use the same markers as Mei, yet I'm so far away from mastering what these tools can achieve.

Sailor Moon as a witch reminds me of old school magical girls, like Sally the Witch. You definitely got the Sailor Moon/magical girl warrior feel while still making her a witch-witch. And Azusa definitely looks like a formidable, scary wicked witch! I like both for different reasons, but as a lifelong magical girl, I gotta go with my Moon Witch bias!
